A bit of background:
Major Minus is the Head Silencer in the Mylo Xyloto Comics. He is waging a war on sound and color through his strict and scary dictatorship, sending demented "Silencer" police officers to take out the "Sparks", or the citizens with the power to spread color and sound throughout the country. When the song says, "Be careful when you're walking in the view" It's warning the people to be careful what they do in front of the scary silencers. Also when he says, "Crocodiles ticking round the world", he's referencing Peter Pan and the crocodile that ate Captain Hook's clock and starting ticking. Perhaps a way for the Sparks to spread sound? Anyway, that's my take. Chris Martin is a masterful songwriter.

The guitar at the start just gets me every time. So much nostalgia for me. I miss those days.

I wish the whole album had been more like this song. They're not really considered a rock band anymore. Which there's nothing wrong with the genre shift, but Coldplay is one of my top three bands almost completely because of their first three albums and b-sides. Like I said, as long as they're not being shitty people in general and they're making the music that makes them happy and that feels right to them it's okay. But imo, if the whole album had been more like this song and less poppy it would have been so much more adventurous and fun to me and I would've listened a whole lot more than I have. It happens with a lot of similar bands that I like too, which is fine, but it starts to get pretty disappointing after a while. Guess I'll just stick to my faves and explore other branches of the indie/rock genres. And keep this gem on my playlist.

Man time flies I remember playing this on YouTube in 2011 when it had like 334k views no joking like I asked to my self hell this is a good song but why so few views but now it has 6.2 mil views I’m surprised tho buy the way I miss the old Coldplay tho

I've just noticed in this song, they made a reference to their other song "Us Against the World" and another reference in Life in Technicolor ii with "Now my Feet Won't Touch the Ground". Ingenious. This is a moment of gr8 realization.
