Cold Chisel - Saturday Night Lyrics
Saturday night
Saturday night
Saturday night
Saturday night
Walking into Sunday, and I find
All desires are cold
I could walk forever, I don't mind
Show me a light, your company
Goes a little way to help me see
The path on which I'm bound
Rather than the things I leave behind
I've got the keys to the city
Baby
I got two days' money
If you light me up
This heart will shine on
"L'esclavage D'amour
It will be ours forevermore"
Words we both recall
Either from a lover, or the law
Saturday night, my steps have shown
I can walk away from all I've know
Goodnight, my friend, goodbye
Remember what they say,
When you're alone, laugh or die

Cold Chisel Saturday Night Comments
Saturday Night. Saturday Night. Saturday Night. Saturday Night. Saturday Night. Saturday Night. Saturday Night. Saturday Night. Saturday Night. Saturday Night. Saturday Night. Saturday Night. Saturday Night. Saturday night's already old...

Why dont we have great Aussie bands like this and great, classic Aussie songs like this anymore?
Seems that the 80's was the one decade where Aussie bands were just doing amazing things.
Nightlife in Australia in the 80's was amazing. Of course I was too young at the time but I remember the sights as young kids as we passed by. There was so much atmosphere. It was raw, unadulterated. Wish I could have been old enough to be part of it.
Sydney was the place to be.
I remember sat nights ....good times back then.
Fuck yeah
1:08 is that Borat?
Real Australia then, not now, never....
Bloke at 1:06 wonder if he ever realized he was in a music video?
nei miei anni giovanili trascorsi nella terra degli aussi ho scoperto la loro rinnovata musica. I Cold Chesel sono stati artefici della mia felicita, in quel periodo e porterò sempre con me i concerti ai quali ho assistito con grande gioia
Classic.. still live for Saturday nights. Enjoy
If you don't like it then why you standin err for 20mins!!!!
All the people lamenting the loss of Kings cross and wondering what went wrong.....!!!!!! Well yeah if you watch the video, its all those people hanging in the cross in the 80's and 90's who grew old and bitter and took the power to ruin it for everyone else! Boomer Trash!
So in love with this song...Always n Forever #2227
Just love the sax parts in this song ...
I've loved this song since it came out, it was the farewell song from when they announced their break up in 1983. But reading Jimmy Barnes' books, I learned that several people had told him that the Mardi Gras footage held images of friends of theirs who'd died of aids. Makes me see the video with fresh eyes. :)
Great song.👌🏾
Still better than Jake Paul “Saturday Night” song
I remember Hey Hey It's Saturday used to use this song going in and out of commercial breaks.
3.59 thats me next to the bikes hahaha back in the day omg
I love the old Cross...Iwas there when they were filming this.....so much ...FUN!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Love it!!!!
Only song from them that I don't tire from. Love it ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️
I was lucky enough to experience the cross in the late 90s while it was still a tad crazy. So sad to see the place deserted these days.
hey Mossy how r u ? It's been a long time
Early 80s KX. Remember it well.
Magic!!!
Remember when the cross wasn't a ghost town?
Well if ya don't like it what you standing there for 20 minutes 4!

What do cnts do sat night in cross nowadays?

Before smart phones social media and other bubble gum millennial lol generation stuff... Sydney used to be cheap and affordable for the working class, not anymore.. Now it’s a rip off dog eat dog urban jungle far worst than the past...
When you hear Dragon - Rain at 0:25
Again proving the best Chisel songs are the ones Ian Moss sings. Certainly gives a real feeling of what Sydney was like in the 80's with the video clip.
I love this song.. every time i hear it... My steps have shown, I could walk away from all i'v known..

would love to go back and live in sydney during this period
Like to live dangerously?
No you wouldn't, it was shit.
@Dazza Howard You were shit.
Love this tune so much ... Reminds me of my life back then ... The boys wrote brilliant tunes. Most folk would have no idea how complex they are.
those days live on. i went down the cross a week ago, walked around a pile of spew and trod in some chewing gum. i looked at a hot hooker i didnt have the cash to screw and i felt young again.
jellyfishbones0 ..haha ..good times ay

Haha ... I remember
Gun comment;)
NSW government ruined Saturday night.
you'd think as time went on things would become more progressive.. but I think new media, to be honest, is what has fucked it up. 3 irate citizens on Twitter can bring it all down. 20 years ago, the same 3 (without a soap box) would stomp up and down at the local cop shop and be told to walk away while the arseholes were put away. A bunch of incidents in a city of 5 million really equates to bugger all. What happens may be awful, but it's happened since the day dot and this sort of response is totally out of proportion and pisses hundreds of thousands of people off and erodes culture.. simply so a handful of people; who probably rarely, if ever, go out can feel better about themselves by saving the population from itself.
@S S First of all mate they’re called coward punches or sucker punches, not king hits. Second of all, no they had fuck all to do with the red tape mafia that controls council decisions. By the way, whatever happened to the City of South Sydney?
😂🤧😉
The so called Lockout Laws will be lifted/scrapped on January 14 2020.
Saturday night in Sydney will most likely return to its former glory? I guess?
Rick Terscale
If you call a spike in alcohol related violence, then yes, the overrated Kings Cross will be back to its “former glory”.
Well Sydney has changed quite a bit....
ah this country used to be great before politicians and political correctness fucked it up for everyone!
I was never a big fan of this song, until I heard Chisel do it live ( now one of my favourites). They were, are and always will be a LIVE band!!!
I remember Hey Hey It's Saturday used to use this song going in and out of commercial breaks.
Saturday Night
Best Australian band ever.
Great song.👌
the cross looks a bit different these days sadly :(
The darker side of Sydney just around time of underbelly.
Myself and 2 mates all just turned 17 in 84 , left Tassie on a $90 dole cheque , one way airfare was $45 to Melb. Then hitch hiked up the Hume to Sydney , got a place to stay and jobs, lived there for 3 months , we used to catch a red rattler from Granville to Liverpool and score a foil from the Bikies at the Railway Hotel , jump on another rattler smoking spliffs on the trip to the cross , fucking loved the 80's
Pinkenba Weighbridge HA!!Thats Awesome!!
Still better than Jake Paul “Saturday Night” song
What do you mean "still" better? Its like you're suggesting this song isn't great. This song is an Aussie rock piece of history. The Paul brothers will be forgotten within 2 years.
I love this song, brings back memories. I hate Sydney after living there but there is some good history.
Dazza Howard Hi Dazza Howard any relation to Ra Ra Howard From Brissy? Just Curious.
classic track
I think that bloke sitting outside Kings Cross Station is still there :)
Great song.😎
One of the great songs of its time. So raw.
Old school
Back in time when one could enjoy a night out in Sydney... How did it all go wrong.... One simple answer - out of touch politicians, bureaucrats, developers and so called do gooders that have all combined to bury Sydney into the dark ages... #RIPSydneynightlife
@jellyfishbones0 get a grip, yes you did. Everything you just said is hilariously stupid
@jellyfishbones0 Im gonna go out on a limb and say its new ethnic groups, the same people who caused the Australia day riots king hitting guys and killing people. Back in the day, you got in a fight, nobody got really hurt and sometimes you'd have a beer with the guy later.
@jellyfishbones0 too bad you are wrong mate. too many other races in sydney that is the problem. bring back white australia if you want good times to be had in the cities
@death to islam im rubbing my chin thinking about what you said, it makes sense.
Coz all in pub brawls, glassings , bouncer bashings, rapes and sexual assaults had absolutely nothing to do with it?
Trust me, I saw alot in my youth and am thankful for some, not all of the changes
chisels classics love them all...
im watching this Saturday night.
Great song. 😎
Ian Moss made this..
when kings X was kings X, now its a cemetery killed by modern gentrification and authoritarian lock out laws
Regarding the intro to the studio version i think jimmy might have sustained a head trauma or is expressing OCD traits.
Yes Jimmy I already know its Saturday night, what comes next?
Nichboy. Thing Of The Day. Good Game. Pocketeers. Anyone?
RIP gg pocket :(
on my trip home soon lookin forward to stepping foot on home turf😃
its Saturday let's rock

@tradie 4theladies did you not get your weeties this morning? Go have a sandwich you grumpy 😡
Well if ya don't like it what you standing there for 20 minutes 4!
GO AUSSIES! 👍💛 😚
Great song. 👌
I'm not really a chisel fan but they have written a few brilliant songs, one of which is this and the reason is Ian Moss... I love his vocals, his voice is so orgasmic... so soulful and calming and his melodies and harmonies were always great... My other fave chisel song is when the war is over, and naturally he kills it in that but my biggest gripe has always been... why the fuck does Barnes always have join in, in the second verse and then take it over and ruins it for me, always hated screamers (unless we're talking metal that is haha) but like in hounddog, another song I love moss's vocals in but in that they are too short... yeah but what a great voice Ian moss had 👍🏻
TheRevLimitrSiccun Your Funny. L.O.L
How can you not be a cold chisel fan you're an idiot
Reminiscent of early Tom Waits, Small Change era -- and man, whata voice! Fantastico!
fav song
Sydney in the 80$!! too deadly 👏

Well if you don't like it why have you been standing there for 20 minutes??
Always imagined that statement was made in a pizza shop...
saterday night started when hey hey its saterday finished. then we hit the streets and didnt get home till daylight or later...outnabout cruising the streets having a ball..how times have changed
Plucka Duck :D
@Kaylene Petersen Wow, we have actually seen Aussie culture at its finest..Too bad it is gone.
@Tim's Witan It's a mix of chinese and african culture now. Or at least it will be when my kids are adults, without a white australia policy.
Yes Greg, totally agree, the landscape is changing to something unlike we have seen before.
To be honest Stockburger has a point. Australia did have a lot going for it.
It's Thing of the Day

"Like sand through some sort of, sand...time contraption, so are the things of our days."
back in the days when sydney was a worthwhile place to visit and party all night. Now it's all over red rover with the new lockout laws. Hope they don't do this here in the Gold Coast. Australia has got to be the most fucked up and retarded place on the planet. We were having a BBQ with family visiting from back home (Switzerland), at the Burleigh Heads park, with prawns and steak sizzling away, as my mum and dad made a compelling reason for me to leave Australia and return back to civilisation. Sorry, love the beach and climate above all. Then a couple of the local constabulary came along, apparently we can't enjoy a glass of red wine with our BBQ, and to add insult to injury we were forced to empty the entire $30 bottle of red on to the lawn. That made up my mind about my family's suggestion I should return to civilization. Back home in Switzerland you can enjoy a drink in public, you have freedom, the people aren't fucked up and retarded like aussies and actually possess some intelligence not needing the nanny state mentality that the bogan aussies are, as yep, I'm leaving this fucked up, pathetic excuse of a nation soon as well, Australia used to have a lot going for it, until the people's average IQ got so low, its now somewhere between that of a cockroach and a rat, and governments have to control everybody, even that tiny majority of us who take responsibility for ourselves and think before we act. Real shame.
+Roger Stockburger SeeYa.
Anyone who loves Australia should give this comment a thumbs up, 'cause we have taken something great and fucked it up big time. They used to say Australia was the lucky country. Today we are a tricky country run by lawyers, otherwise known as corrupt politicians who have created a bureaucratic dystopia. Under John Howard we had our highest ever immigration numbers - over 300 000, and the numbers continue to rise. A big price to pay for something we never asked for (or voted for) - a big Australia. Standard of living down the toilet, unaffordable housing, destruction of cultural heritage and the environment, it's all about making a quick buck these days. Great country Australia. If it's just as fucked overseas then overseas can get fucked too.
Roger Stockburger lol enjoy your lakes
Roger Stockburger You crack me up... You know nothing of Australia... And honestly I'm glad you went back home.. Is your comment about the song cause I'm thinking not or did you just think we as Australians really give a F*ck what you think about our country..
Roger Stockburger HE Has a POINT!!!Trust me!!OZ N SWISS Halfway Is the WAY!!GO CHISEL OILS N PRINCE
Remember when the cross wasn't a ghost town?
