Coheed And Cambria - Three Evils (Embodied In Love And Shadow) Lyrics
Across the floor in the hand of where we drove the drill
A cautious ear to the mouth of your confession
Think of all the things we put him through
In the face of his god would he tell the truth?
When eyes go blind in this man of what could once become
Sever the limbs off his torso in sleep
And burn what remains so the world may now see
No longer...will we wait for your answers
Back to the hell where you've come from
Think of all the times you once had
Write them in a letter that says "goodbye"
You'll listen to reason while you're face down in the dirt
You'll stomach the hurt and break for him here just how much he's worth
Slowly discarded were the remains of his lonely youth
Among the alley where the dwellers scare to notice
Picture a young boy in pieces and streets with leveled malfunctions
No name to be called redeemer
We'll fix him restore him...with the love is no other
Think of all the things you did before
Write them in a letter that says reborn
You'll listen to reason while you're face down in the dirt
Following you across the interstate walking away...I'll fire on
Following you across the interstate walking away...I'll fire on
Following you across the interstate walking away...I'll fire on
On the wrong way out
On the causeway to neverwhere
On the wrong way out
On the causeway to neverwhere
On the wrong way out
On the causeway to neverwhere
after beyond this when will our nightmare ever end?
Dear my friends in the time we've spent forever
after beyond this when will our nightmare ever end?
Pull the trigger and the nightmare stops...
Pull the trigger and the nightmare stops...
Pull the trigger and the nightmare stops...
Forever you will, forever you will learn

Coheed And Cambria Three Evils (Embodied In Love And Shadow) Comments
Just before Coheed went on their full tour to promote the new album they went on a small national tour playing a 50/50 mix of older and newer stuff. I didn't know they were going to play all the old favorites and I just about choked on my beer when I heard the opening riff of Three Evils. The crowd went fuckin wild.
Whatever one's interpretation of this song may be, it makes me wanna live.
Man I found this 2005 warped tour double CD and i dnt have the 2nd one that has this on it ! UGH. When will the nightmare end - please pray for my Epilepsy its crazy
Woke up with the urge to hear this shit.. got my fix
This is the song that got me into Coheed.
A bop. A bop about being brutally dismembered, sure, but a bop none the less.
Don't do it, fam. Permanent solutions to temporary problems.
"...Forever you will learn.."(?)
please correct me if I am wrong XP
Love This Song. Thank You.
I can't live without this song
Damn they're coming to Daygo soon!!!
Heard this song for the first time when I was about 15 or 16 working at Target in 2002-2003. It was on that continuous loop of videos they played on the TVs back then. I didn't want to like it cause I hated "emo" but I could tell something was different about it. In short, emo sucks, coheed is tight.
i remembered today being at a group event with my parents for people with disabilities and my dad telling me not to identify people by races or disabilities and thought about how great the world is also the vocals plus some of the words and remembered reading one of the amory wars novels, hardback and being intoxicated with pleasure so glad for my heroes
"Pull the trigger and the nightmare stops", this should be the theme song to the 2019 Sonic the Hedgehog Movie.
So much Jimmy Eat World in this song it's mind boggling
One of the best endings ever... Such a good rhythm and then the leads are so perfect... And the fade out is a bold choice.
FOLLOWING YOU ACROSS THE INTERSTATE WALKING AWAYYY
3:14 on is so catchy, great song
I dont know why, but this is one of my fave Coheed sonfs. lol
The song is about Sizer getting dismembered by Mayo, who's later found by Claudio, and put back together again
Face Down In The Dirt
Growing up I hated myself, my family, everything. Abuse was all I had. I started fighting at age 4, dancing at age 7 and I lost mobility at age 13. I was in so much pain daily that whatever pain killer I was given I would take them more than what was prescribed because I wanted to die. I tried to hang myself, over dose, I was a child who lost the very thing that helped me stay out of the house. I started listening to Shabutti when I was very young and then Coheed came about. I was able to meet Claudio a few times and I told him everything. Telling him that all that he is and all that he creates was the only thing that kept me going. I'm 24 now. 5 hip surgeries, 3 foot surgeries, I even had a tumor removed from my head.... Next month I have a surgery to make my life a little easier and all I've done is listen to Claudio's voice and remind myself that once I'm better, I can see him again. Thank you Claudio for helping me through my 24 years
Damn! Sorry you had to go through all of that. You will be nothing short of strong ass individual at 30.
Very moving. I wish you all the best.
You can make it out and will be better. God bless sweetie. :)

I'VE FOUND IT
I'VE FINALLY FOUND THIS SONG
I'VE ALWAYS LOVED COHEED BUT I COULDN'T REMEMBER WHAT THIS SONG WAS CALLED
Why is this song removed from Spotify?
because it's too good
This song saved my life
I love how this is a catchy, upbeat pop punk song that wouldn't sound out of place on a New Found Glory album or one of Fall Out Boy's first albums, but the lyrics are extremely dark
Coheed & Cambria can play so many genres
blurnsball3001 how?
But it is a pop punk song. I didn't say they were a pop punk band.
Might I add they do pop punk better than most pop punk bands.
Even then, pop punk isn't some objectively bad genre. Even if you don't like all the Hot Topic-ish bands, not all pop punk bands are like that.
The fact that they can play prog, metal, pop punk, and various other genres shows how versatile and talented C&C is.
@BUMBO THE CLOWN This is definitely more along the lines of late 90's emo and post hardcore bands in term of guitar playing and the way Claudio sings on this record.
This song, considering lyrics and melody, wouldn’t be out of place on My Chem’s “Three Cheers fo Sweet Revenge” either
@communistdaughter lol no
This song needs more attention
"Think of all the things you said before. Write them in a letter that says reborn." Clearly the song is about an intergalactic stegosauras with intestinal gastris problems.
Not gonna make up an excuse and just fucking say I should have this album. I like C&C the more I hear their songs and I like the fact that I have not heard all of their music. Thank you for making such great music C&C this song was a gem.
I don't even care what anyone says, seeing this song live during their IKSSE Neverender tour was the coolest musical experience of my life.
The album is about us going to war after 9/11 And bush
Such dark lyrics set to such a chirpy and upbeat melody
Lol, That pretty much sums up all CO&CA songs. Utter perfection.
One of the hidden gems on this CD
This song is about a cyborg being interrogated, his limbs being sawed off one by one. Eventually, he begs his captor to blow his robo-brains out to stop the pain.
This song is not about suicide...
I stand corrected
Read the comic, and listen to Claudio. He actually says the music and comics are a mix of fiction and his own life.
@zero rose I love you
Claudio always says the way he writes lyrics is he uses the Amory Wars as a way to talk about his real life feelings and topics but just through a fictional story. This song could easily be about suicide some way or another.
@Rogue Planet I think there is something about sadness there...
With lyrics like leveled malfunction no name to be called, slowly forgotten were the remains of his lonely youth, etc.
The emotion in the song also just feels like there was a sort of sadness and loneliness which Claudio had to learn to accept.
I also take (as in the meaning I put into it) pull the trigger and the nightmare stops as do you destroy yourself or those around you who hurt you.
"music video"
The reused the melody from the end of this song on "The Suffering"
THE MF KEYWORK!!!!!!!!!!! Could go on forever but not enough exclamation points in existence.
reminds of american pie. idk why
"Pull the trigger and the *nightmare* stops"
Gawd........everything about this album hits me in the feels. The music has been inspiring me to be a better guitarist since it first came out. It still gets regular play on my turntable.
If you can write such dark lyrics over such catchy upbeat tunes, you're a mastermind.
@Kurt Lamprecht That doesn't make any sense
I went to your channel Kurt, no relavent content to study. This song has gotten me through many times even when I was like 8 and didnt even know what suicide was. I understand that everyone has their own perspective but if you have seen Claudio live you would know he is a humble gentle man and this is a representation of his imagination mixed with humanism from his own experience. Your comment comes off as cold and ignorant. Suicide and or as in the comics asking others to take your own life is quite a big subject. We have assisted suicide here in America. Life is a journey between you and the particles you are composed of. If he expresses his sadness this way he is not a tool he is another human
@Kurt Lamprecht you mean like every Motown act ever? You know, the label who never cut a record that didn't hit?
@Ryan Mecillas tl;dr cool story bro
@Dean Smith yeah, Coheed and Cambria isn't on Motown, dipshit...
a very artistic band.. not one of those band that talks about the daily shits in life.
Lyrics:
Across the floor in the hand of where we drove the drill
A cautious ear to the mouth of your confession
Think of all the things we put him through
In the face of his god would he tell the truth?
Still recorded were the words that dribbled out his kiss
When eyes go blind in this man of what could once become
Sever the limbs off his torso in sleep
And burn what remains so the world may now see
No longer will we wait for your answers
Back to the hell where you've come from
Think of all the times you once had

As great as this song is, a friend's son's friend recently was brutally tortured and it's extremely hard to listen to this song with that in mind, especially as this is the chirpiest song about torture I've ever heard!
No wonder the band had to issue a disclaimer in the lyrics booklet.
I thought it was about suicide.
Honestly the one track that sounds like beat it is worse I find it all amusing and I was tortured and have PTSD from it and wake up at 430 am and soon as my eyes open I sing this. So I don't know I like it.
Henry Haze what do you mean “the track the sounds like beat it”?
am i the only one that in watching this video, came to realize what lyrics in paragraph form looks like?
lol same here but at least lyrics are posted
@DonD512 haha yeah
Raises the question about art imitating life vs. life imitating art.
"Pull the trigger and the nightmare stops." On the surface, it could be about suicide, yet the main character in the Amory Wars story is a kind of cyborg with a gun for one of his arms. He is prophesied to use that gun against the corrupt rulers of his world. Still, he's got major baggage from the fact that his father (Coheed) murdered his two siblings (Maria and Matthew) at the beginning of the story. So at whom does he pull the trigger? Himself or his foes?
Could just be me reading too much into it but I think this is a metaphor for real life. When things are so bad that there appears to be no way out, where do you direct the aggression? Do you destroy yourself or do you make a stand against the things in the world around you (and within you for that matter) that have created the dark circumstances? Considering how the story actually ends, I think this song is actually very uplifting and hopeful:
"We'll fix him, restore him."
"Write them in a letter that says reborn."
It sucks sitting here wanting to know about the comics when i jus like a few songs fron them, whats the story behind it they lovvvee a comic ?
They literally put the number for the suicide prevention hotline on the album sleeve following the written song lyrics. I know nobody buys physical albums anymore but this song is about suicide. It's completely obvious.
Their first seven albums follow the Amory Wars story line. This one follows Claudio after the events of Second Stage Turbine Blade, and splits off to tell of Inferno's rebel faction. The song is about Sizer, one of a handful of IRO-Bots made by Inferno, being captured by Mayo Deftinwolf and tortured for information about the enemy. Sizer wouldn't say a word, and his retorts kept making the torture difficult for Deftinwolf. His final words were "Pull the trigger and the nightmare stops", for both Deftinwolf and Sizer. After being "killed" and discarded, Claudio and Ambellina find him and fix him back up, bringing him back to life, where he would then help in fighting the Onstantine Priest that appeared.
Man it's so cool his comic has fans
@「Tᴀᴛᴇ Eʙᴏꜱʜɪ」 • S̲a̲b̲e̲r̲ oh dang

pull the trigger and the nightmare stops.
I got that shit tattooed on my fingers about 5 years ago still one of the best tattoos if ever gotten
Someone tried to tell me it was PULL THE TRIGGER AND NIGHTMARE ENDS LMAO
They literally wrote that in the physical copy that it wasn't meant to allude to sucide
@kingof Troy Maybe they got confused with the previous part where it says, "when will our nightmare ever end..".
= listen well will you marry me
omg i love 3 days grraace
+S0phisticatedZ0mbie lmfao exactly what I thought when I read this comment
hahahhaha
This is slipknot jackass
"You'll listen to reason while you're face down in the dirt"
for the longest time I thought he was saying "You'll listen to reason HE'S UP while you're face down in the dirt". but he actually holds the word 'reason' for two extra syllables to turn it into 'rea-ee-son'.
fucked me up for the longest time because i would read the lyrics with the song and sing the next words too early.
+Chaster Mief nice name
+Chaster Mief I used to think he was saying "You'll listen to Reed, he's up..."
"Slowly discarded were the remains of his lonely youth.
Among the alley where the dwellers scare to know the truth
Picture a young boy in pieces in streets
with rebel malfunctions
no name to be called redeemer
We'll fix him restore him...
with the love if no other

Im happy i recently purchased the record :D
I suggest any fans do so aswell, sounds really great.
We need to start supportin the artists again the $ from streams aint enough
And this is my 2nd time buying it
+Nonexistanthuman
Yeah. I'm a musician myself, and I've more or less moved on from expecting people to buy physical records. Still, some groups are just so damn good that people are actually willing to buy their albums. I think as a fan you get so much more out of the music when you can hear the audio in HQ on a great set of speakers, rather than some chincy Youtube MP3 through a set of earbuds.
+Ronn Fontana You're aboslutely right its sad that people stopped buying music but it could change in the future who knows. Once youtube starts charging for music like pandora/spotify thats when life is gonna change for us once again. Im blessed to listen to Coheed & Cambria and along of many other bands/artists on the 80s/90s stereo set up i have obtained and piece together to get the most out of my listening pleasure.
First record that I get from my first job... very expensive on those years, by the way, I still have it... masterpiece!!
@XXDOD same. got the CD
I love this song :')
Oh fuck! This album is the fuckin' SHIT!
true true. jammed this shit allllly summer '04
04 man. fuck
It is an injustice that they cut out the priest scream at the end.
What's up with that? It's fucking scary, I thought it was a Dark Souls monster or something. What's the lore behind the priest?
