this is my favourite coheed and cambria song. i had no idea it was the end of the comic series, ive never really read them. Maybe I should reading these comments. Weird ive liked them for nearly a decade and have never read one of their comics.

Also, I love the "HAIL!" bit, and especially near the end, with the reprise of "The Willing Well IV: The Final Cut", which was the final song of the previous album.

Yeah, but they're all prequels to the ending that supposedly happens here. The popular theory is that Claudio/The Crowing succeeds in destroying the keywork thus ending the Amory Wars by effectively destroying the universe. There's no external narrative (comica, novels, etc), so the theory is purely based on the lyrics of the album

The change to that like 'hell!' marching thing is really out of the blue, I always thought it was just I had like a version of the song that skipped the segway aha but that's really how the song goes.

Every song by coheed is underrated. as far as prog rock goes... they're the best. no doubt.

This and the camper vallerium 11 the backend of forever are the most underrated i think just my opinion

I love how the outro riff links to The Final Cut.

It's meant to sound like The Final Cut. There are plenty of themes that run through the first 4 albums, like that riff.

I was kinda iffy on YOTBR, but it really grew on me, I love the lost sheperd and the broken and world of lines, it's coheed alright, don't forget that they're progressive rock, like yes or rush, they keep progressing, but with sentry the defiant, it sounds like it'll be sounding like some of their old stuff, all in all, every single song is art.

3:23, you're thinking "Dude, this sounds just like In The Flesh." You then keep waiting subconciously for In The Flesh to kick in, but nope. 3:46 "Ham! Ham! Ham! Ham!"

from 5:20 onwards its the same riff as The final cut on Good Apollo, I'm Burning Star

3:22 - nearly the same chord progression as the start of "In The Flesh?" It's crazy when you think about how Coheed's writing style is heavily influenced by Floyd. Everything in The Amory Wars is a show, being portrayed by the one most affected. Just like The Wall.

Sounds like this one's got a little touch of Pink Floyd to it in the beginning & some towards the end also.

The final cut wins it for me, but On the brink is so epic itself. It's only the "hails" in the middle that pulls it down slightly for me, but the bit at the end is pure awesome.
That, and I am just obsessed with the guitary instrumental bits of the final cut <3
