Coheed And Cambria - 33 Lyrics
it's not what you have learned
but what they said about you under your shirt you know they never will
they'll make sense of what you gave them
and now it's all down hill from here
well in case you break my fall
patrick short flip and outside
boundary lines
(i'm running you down) ooh yeah, well nothing looks right from up here
(inside out) i'm still unclear about the things you might have said
in pieces they stagger embedded
rush me to the emergency room
flat line equals frantic endeavor
but i guess this will have to do now
we're bringing it home
(i'm running you down) ooh yeah, well nothing seems right from up here
(inside out) i'm still unclear about the things you might have said
(down) ooh yeah, well nothing seems right from up here
(inside out) i'm still unclear about the things you might have said..
'bout the things you might have said
hold on to the things you favor most
shift right and let it run down
if my peace could find a way up
let go of the youthful honesty [x3]
(i'm running you down) ooh yeah, well nothing looks right from up here
(inside out) i'm still unclear about the things you might have said
(down) ooh yeah, well nothing looks right from up here
(inside out) i'm still unclear about the things you might have said
(i'm running you down) ooh yeah, well nothing looks right from up here
i'm still unclear...

How do you make a song about Patrick Ewing in a concept album
+Devyn moyle in the comics he's Patrick McCormick, Josephines (Claudios Sister) boyfriend. This is a song about after Patrick witnessed his girlfriend get murdered by her parents (Coheed & Cambria). Long story but he basically buys a gun and runs down a monster.
+Jon Campbell ya i have never read the novels so thats how i wouldn't know but i do have a couple of the comic books but they are the first 2 of the second stage turbine blade.
they are also fans of patrick Ewing tho
i like this
its kinda awesome how he can write and deeply lyrical sounding song about Patrick Ewing num. 33 and make it sound so sweet this whole band rocks even though they have changed members they managed to at least keep a lot of what they originally had.
This song is about Patrick McCormick from Claudio Sanchez's storyverse about "The Amory Wars." Patrick is the fiance of Josephine Kilgannon.
In this particular song Patrick attempts to run into a bar where he can get a weapon to fight off something that is chasing him. Unknown to Patrick, he is being chased (and subsequently will be killed) by a mutant known as an Onstantine Priest.
cool! thanks for letting me know. :)
@Joseph Solace I agree with Aric that the part he's referring to pertains to the story but this song was originally written about Patrick Ewing. In fact this song was written and recorded while they were still called shabutie. Before the whole concept of the amory wars story even existing. They moved the song 33 over to the second stage album since it was a hit. what claudio sanchez did in this case was make the story he created fit the song.
beautiful just beautiful
By FAR the most underrated Coheed song in their whole catalog. No idea how this song is so under appreciated. Always been one of my favorites.
The song is about Patrick Ewing the basketball player. Claudio is a big knicks fan. He's describing how he acted like a bonehead during a critical time that could have cost them the game. He's arguing with the ref about a bad call, risking a technical foul. Claudio is in the stands disgusted by such a high caliber player acting like an idiot. He really cant hear what Ewing is saying to the ref but Claudio just wishes he can let it go so they can win the game.
This song is my favorite to play on guitar.
It's so fun.
Honestly the story makes the music more powerful in my opinion.
Plus the comics are just really good in general.
I know some of the story, but I do not follow it. I love the music regardless, but think about how amazing it is to have all these great songs and actually have a story behind it. I think that takes a lot of talent and a really intelligent mind. I mean even Claudio's side project is involved in the story. I love it
@sean devine read the Amory Wars. The comic series written by the lead singer of Coheed.
so what does a lyrics like ''patrick short flip'' mean>
What about me?
The Chorus on this song is absolutely perfect.
@hala4haters 3:29
I assume the collective Coheed and Cambria fan community are keeping this clip at 333 likes on purpose? I for one won't be the one to ruin it. ;)
I thought when they wrote this, it was about Patrick dying in a car crash, then reworked it in the comics as a priest...
PATRICK EWING NY KNICKS #33 FTW!!
Yay patricks song =]
so uh guess what? JOSH IS BACK
definitely patrick ewing
Patrick Ewing. Number 33. Running down the shot clock. Unclear of what he was saying to a referee. Just sayin.
this song is completely breathtaking it's unbelievable
@vegaspunx66 It's actually really jacked up the way they released all the comics, because it actually the bag on line adventures, then Good Apollo graphic novel, first half of second stage turbine blade, Year of the black rainbow novel, second half of SSTB, and then he's almost finishing up IKSSE:3...btw, he's planning to make the whole concept into novels as well, he said he's working on SSTB right now...he also said not to read good apollo because it wasnt tru to his vision, he's remaking it.
@HollowInsane I actually bought the whole second stage turbine blade in one book about a month ago...I suggest you do the same because they stock the individual issues at different times...I think it's like $40...and definitely worth it coheed fan or not, I think it's a great comic book series. My only complaint could be the length, I wished it was just a bit longer.
@SmellyWeenis i've heard good things about it, the only problem would be finding them all, i heard that issue #1 is very hard to find cause its out of print, or so i was told.
Any issue #1 is tough to get?
Though I love all Coheed and Cambria, Shabutie and Prize Fighter Inferno songs - this one's pretty special - my name's Patrick. I love this band.
hard riffage
OK, The Fall of Troy. Yes, I know these guys cam first.
just so all you guys are clear yotbr is a prologue to the amory wars, its not really supposed to be read with or with out the amory wars, its a stand alone book.
33 has won me a considerable amount at the roulette wheel. even the repeat! woot!
Read The Amory Wars in the order they came out, or however you want.
@crassisdead voted ya down just so you could keep 33 thumbs up
@RobTheWhiteZombie Buy them from The Amory Wars website (google The Amory Wars). Then start with the SSTB, then IKSSE:3, then GAIBSIV:Vol1 & Vol2, then YOTBR. That's the correct "chronological" (excluding the Bag.On.Line series) way to read the comics. If you can't find them on The Amory Wars website, try looking at your local comic book store before turning to amazon or ebay. :) You'll save on shipping and support your own community instead of a industrial giant. :)
@TheRy2113 Lol... you're wrong with that one, just sayin'.
@Crassisdead You have 33 thumbs up, Thought id point that out :)
I really want to read the Amory Wars series, but I don't know where to start or where to buy them
@crassisdead Oh look, 33 thumbs up.
the 33 shirts at the SSTB shows are fucking sick
@evanrist i missed it :(((( damn bills
@crassisdead i cant believe you made it a year with nobody being a dick and pressing it the 34th time lol
@quaqa88 The song is based on Patrick, having witnessed Josephine's murder by Coheed, be killed by an onstantine priest while on the run. The onstantine priests were originally the mages who oversaw the Keywork and Heaven's fence before Ryan took power, at which point he 'zombie-fied' them into monsters intended to scour Heaven's fence for the Crowing, i.e. Claudio.
What is 33 in relation to the concept?
@crassisdead I won't thumbs up this comment because it has 33 thumbs up.
@Poorbutters Gotta vote you down. Can't hate on Coheed. The band grew, nuff said.
@Poorbutters I hear you, Black Rainbow is so much different from SSTB, but that's part of what I like about the band. They completed their 5 album cycle, kept it a cohesive narrative, and were able to grow as a band over 8 years. They started with emo-ish indie rock (SSTB), added some epic, rock opera-ness (IKSSE:3), then started to get heavier and trippier (Apollo I), then went all out rock and roll (Apollo II) and finally mixed elements from the second and third album back in (YOTBR).
@crassisdead
I voted it down, because some tool liked it up to 34. Its back to 33 now :).
I got a 33 on my Math regent!
Patrick McCormack funeral song basically
@crassisdead your a hic shutup loser
@crassisdead go make love to a girl virgin
@crassisdead THATS NOT HOW IT WORKS YOU FUCKER!
@ljpyoyo ahhh i cant like it cuz it has 33 likes!!!!! sorry....just know i like it(:
@ljpyoyo and this comment has 33 thumbs up... hmmm...
@PyrHead 10 points for our fearless leader
the ending line "I'm still unclear" just makes me smile, it's just the magic of Claud's voice that makes it epic!
Dubz, checkem
damn these guys sure know how to make music
@richter101
Course it is
@NatoRawk
Well, its a little...."up for grabs"...by that i mean it can be taken many ways....if you watch claudio perform NWFT(song) live, you'll see him go:
What did i do...to deserve all of this(gestures behind him)
What did i do..to deserve all of you!(points to the crowd)
so it could very possibly be a shoutout about how much claudio, and the band respect and love their fans for the support....or it could have something to do with the Amory Wars, like 99% of coheeds work :P
@theJKDshow
Captain Obvious has arrived.
Can some1 explain the relevance of the phrase "what did i do to deserve this?"as its a recurring phrase in blood red summer and comes up again in no world for tomorrow.
McCormick, holmes :P,not Ewing, Patrick Ewing was an nba player(number 33,coincidentally,probably the reason why patricks license plate(in the story) says 33,and why the section was called 33,as well as this song)
The dude from the story, patrick, his last name is McCormick if i recall correctly, cant find my sstb volume2 atm :/ but its in the 33 intro,it says his name
yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhh that song rockssssssssssssssss
Beast mode son :P
Hah yeah, "What did I do to deserve this???" Nothing lol. His lucks just shit.
Patrick's luck really...
Really blows lol
um. nope. it's about patrick ewing.
I love how this song is called 33, has 33 ratings and is 3.30 minutes long
this is by far my favorite coheed song
patrick...ewing? who was number 33 for the new york knickerbockers? "patrick, short flip and outside, boundry lines.... i'm running you down"... sounds like a lovesong to patrick ewing.
hahah, yea, before everyone starts attacking me about the sci-fi story line, don't bother, i know, i was just making a joke.
33.....rd degree mason??
If you hate it so much then why do you even bother? Other people like it and dont need your your shit.
you're so cool...
Yep. He gets owned, just like almost every other character on this album.
Lol, he was partially right, since it used to be a mage.
it's at this point that josephine's boyfriend patrick gets killed by the onstantine priest right?
Fair enough. >:)>
Its an Onstantine priest that kills him actually, to be specific anyway.
Ding ding ding! You win!
I think so... The Mage eventual catch up with him and eliminate him.
I love this part in the story. Patrick is like "OMGWTFBBQ" is going on?!?!?!! It's awesome and funny.
Thank you for the awesome uploads. You rule dude!!!
amazing
