Coe, David Allan - Please Come To Boston Lyrics
Please come to Boston for the springtime
I'm staying here with some friends
And they've got lots of room
You can sell you paintings on the sidewalk
By a café where I hope to be working soon
She said, "No, David, you come home to me"
And she said,
"Hey rambling boy why don't you settle down
Boston ain't your kind of town
There ain't no gold and there ain't nobody like me
I'm the number one fan of the man from Tennessee"
Please come to Denver with the snowfall
We'll move up into the mountains
And throw "I love you" echoes down the canyon
And then lie awake at night 'till they come back around
Please come to Denver, she said
"No, you come home to me"
And she said,
"Hey rambling boy why don't you settle down
Boston ain't your kind of town
There ain't no gold and there ain't nobody like me
I'm the number one fan of the man from Tennessee"
Now, this drifter's world goes 'round and 'round
And I doubt if it's ever gonna stop
But of all the dreams I've lost and found
And all that I ain't got I still need to lean to
Somebody I can sing to
Please come to L.A. to live forever
California life alone is just too hard to build
I live in a house that looks out over the ocean
And there's some stars that fell from the sky
A' living up on the hill
Please come to L.A.,
She just said,
"No, david, you come home to me"
And she said,
"Hey rambling boy why don't you settle down
Boston ain't your kind of town
There ain't no gold and there ain't nobody like me
I'm the number one fan of the man from Tennessee"
Please come to Boston
(Hey rambling boy come home)
Please come to Boston
(Hey rambling boy come home)
Please come to Boston
(Hey rambling boy come home)
Please come to Boston
(Hey rambling boy come home)

Coe, David Allan Please Come To Boston Comments
Great song and singer !! Love it !
Love DAC but I disagree with most of you in comments ...David Loggins sings it much better and with very impressive range especially near the end . Of course he wrote it but DAC does a great cover of it
Good song. But it's a great song when DAC sings it. Love this version.
Awesome version by DAC. Sure beats that generic crap that George stait and Garth Brooks put out.... pop country shit.
I never knew he sang this one. Beautiful
This was one of my brothers favourite songs, just thinking back today..See you again someday Jim..love an miss you bro
I like looking at how many Self Proclaimed DAC Super Fans can't spell his name right. Though I see it as a Minor thing. If you only knew how much of a Shit Fit David goes into when someone misspells his name.
Let's give him the respect he deserves..
Still makes me miss my ex wife! Why I don't know?
My opinion...the best version & one of his best songs....
the funny thing is he wasn't Tennessee hes in barest that he is born in ohio
To bad all country cant be this good and talented in song writing and singing new artist aint got got shit on this
One of my very favorite songs of all time
Love David Allen Coe!!!!Great song!!Classic
David Allan Coe ! ML&R my long haired brother.
DAC is truly one of the most underrated singers of all time. Having heard pretty much *all* of his songs (YES, including the *really* raunchy ones), I completely understand why country radio was a little leery of giving him much airplay. Still, his raunchy songs don't detract from his cleaner ones, and in my opinion, he's got one of the best (and grittiest) voices in the industry. The guy was seriously ahead of his time when he first came out.
So fucking great
This God damn rhinestone cowboy is the best .... fight me😂
DAC is top 10 all time easily
I love Coe, but on this song he aint no dave loggings,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
*D.A.C.* : bigger hillbilly star ☆
*David 4 PRESIDENT 2020-30*
No little hats involved with this
The best version is by the man that wrote it. Dave Loggins. imho. You may have a favorite version but Loggins nailed it in the beginning.
This song reminds me of how a boy and a dream carves out a life. Reminds me of the man id like to be.
Was this ever released on a DAC album or was it just a single? (Not counting compilation albums.)
One of them moods.
boy why don't you settle down,,im the number fan,,,of that man from tennessee, baby you come home to me.........
By far the best iteration of this great song. DAC has a great voice and honest presentation. He's got a reputation as a racist and brash performer/songwriter, and he is. He's also the writer and performer of some absolutely incredible songs, so i don't give a shit about anything else. This performance itself is hands-down one of the best performances of ANY song, ever. Pure, clean, goodness. Dislikes just don't understand music.
OUTLAW COUNTRY VERSIONS ARE ALWAYS THE BEST
Now that's country, as DAC would say kick ass country ...take note Blake.
Morning legs lol 😂 love you too and 😘 Man legs lol 💋 have a great day 😘 Man legs lol 💋
Legs lol 😂 love😂 love you too babe
Long live Mr.Coe, very talented musician. good old Ohio boy like myself!😉
he always adds his name to almost ever song he sings
Please come to Dimebag, we got lots of booze!
From start till finish every song on his albums you can listen to no doubt . Except 18 x rated hits
I think this is Dave Loggins! Can't be Coe!
Like loggins version a tad more.
He wrote this song. Along with Tennessee whiskey.
The best!!
Dammit..man...
This song makes me rly emotional because when I was little (2-5) my dad used to sing this to me every night and we just recently heard it and I haven’t heard it for about 8 years now but I immediately recognized it
Dac did this best I saw the other comments about the original singer and writer but there's absolutely no emotion in that version.
Hey kids for your information, this is country
Real country music! Not this shit they play now. Jamey Johnson is the last real country music
Excited he will be coming here to Sacramento even out here in Calif he sells out what ever venues he plays,, wish I had been able to see him when I was younger , my first songs I heard by him was divers do it deeper and if that ain’t country ,, I was hooked and crushing hard on this crazy man!
Like it
Absolutely the best cover of this song...imo. Great vocals, what emotion he conveyed here is second to none.
Please come to Dime bag's, we got lots of booze!
DAC sings this song better than anyone. obviously some people on here dont know true country artists like DAC, Willie, Merle and Jesse Colter, etc.
reminds me of when i was little. my parents used to have friends over to play cards and blast DAC.
OMG -this version is dreadful
yay right like any one world turn down a chance to live in LA LOL
Cowboys laugh at Yankee city slickers.
Bil Nadeau , thats the long lost verse from this song
David Allen Coe is true old school country! Grew up listening to him and still listen to him this day. Kick ass Coe!
Me too!! 46 and going strong! Much love from New Orleans WWG1WGA
I also have listened to him all my life. Still do always will.
Absolutely stunning
Man im 9 listening to this then it's gotta be good😮😶
my liberal girlfriend should listen to this.its a shame she wouldn't understand because it speaks volumes about a outlaw man and an artist
Dn't you mean your EX liberal girlfriend..hint,hint.😁just kidding around.
Next to Dave Loggins DAC does it very nicely. More outlaw
I absolutely love David Allen Cole!!!! Would love to see him in concert!!!!
Lisa Fitzpatrick David allan coe
The best.
I love David Allan Coe
i love this song.... reminds me of serving my country, being a marine, being an american.
thank you
Thanks for your service devil dog! Great song for sure!
Thank you for your service and defence of our great country. I salute you my brotha
79 truth on the real
fuck loggins Dac is where it's at
Best version, he made this his song
It WAS his, he wrote it...
@Ronny Lee
Actually the song was written by David Loggins.
@Ed Ford Yes, you are correct...
Ronny Lee no he didn’t
Just listened to David Loggins...my, so much better instrumentally and great voice, a convincing voice. Coe's voice wavers. Also Joan Baez does a great job
can't nothing beat the original but david did a good job
that was sarcasm.
This is a Kenny Chesney song. Who is the best outlaw country SONGWRITERS there will ever be. And in no way is he a hermaphrodite with a mangina.
Bo Wallace you think Kenny chesney wrote this? LOL
Bobby Walker Kenny chesney wasn't born when this song was wrote. chesney is a pussy pop country singer.
I think I can clear up some confusion: While DAC is certainly one of the all time legends, and he made this song his own. The great Dave Loggins, wrote this wonderful song ; I would venture that it is semi-autobiographical, and Dave himself is the man from TN, Moutain City Tn to be exact, we are very proud of him. I heard some gossip that he is related Kenny Loggins in some way.
Wikipedia says he is Kenny's second cousin.
tippimail1 so basically like his brother in TN xD
Akron, OH.
Danga zoneeeee
Doesn't give a $hit what his fans want to hear in concert, though.
He has to talk about all of his ex wives and IRS
I had the opportunity to see him at the knitting factory a few years back i met a legend and experienced won of the best and most meaningful shows of my life that old crusty bastered was still rockin when must people his age are shitting themselves and clueless who or where the are . luv ya David
He once played purple rain at a concert
@adam agans I think I was at the same show. One of the best shows I ever saw, hands down.
WITHOUT A DOUBT THE MOST UNDERESTIMATED OVERLOOKED,IGNORED,SNUBBED SONGWRITERS IN THE HISTORY OF WRITING.PERIOD!JUST WONDERING,DOES ANYONE KNOW IF DAC HAD A DEAL WITH JD?DID JD CUT HIM A CHECK??IN ITS TIME,JD IF U PLEASE,WAS A BIIIGG HIT.JUST CURIOUS..TY
LOL he didn't write this song.
LOL ur right ,Dave Loggins wrote PLEASE COME TO BOSTON.
BUT DAC IS underrated greatly!!
well you cant ask me for my drawers now, do you miss country music
song writer magic
lol hard to believe this is the f*ckin in the butt guy
Doug Bauer prison changed him a lot. and how he wrote songs. we got a cd and it's the only cd I ever play never heard of him untell my uncle put that cd in and played it. love David Allen Coe.
He is very talented.
Great singer songwriter..love DAC...the man the legend...
pure country one. of the best of all time
Best Version! ❤some DAC..that's when country was country
I WISH I still had that album.....and all my old albums. Got ruined in a flooded basement in the early 90's. Thank god for youtube...I can listen to that album and look at that picture on that old Shovelhead with the "Outlaws" tank...man it brings back memories.
+Chad M they sell the cd at Walmart
April Stewart WHAT THE HELL HAS CHANGED?? COUNTRY IS STILL JUST AS LITERALLY COUNTRY AS ANYTHING IN THIS TIME ERA OF DAC
willam Parker thanks for sharing that shitty store and wasting my time I spent reading it
Check out New Found Rd covering this... Killer
for a guy that was such a rotten, dirty dog.. what a beautiful piece of his here..
A rotten dirty dog? Lmfao. Read about gg allin. Dac was a saint
@Jacob Chapman DAC hasn't had a Drummer for 3 years. He uses a Mixer Box for all the band members he no longer has. It's basically David and that Washed Up Harley Whore Banging that Tambourine on stage. David is Flat Fucking Broke. He can't afford any band members. He never pays them.
@Ben Mastin like him, you mean like doesn't pay his Band or Road crew for months at a time? Works for Cash Only, so the IRS can't get any of the $900,000 in back taxes he owes? The man that went 9 months without making payments on his Tour Bus and Truck? And got pissed at his Road Crew and Band for failing him? The man that lied about being on Death Row? And was later Called out by the Warden back then?
Curt Ekstrom if people knew what good music was he wouldn’t be broke. Sounds like to me he’s just staying one step ahead of the system. Long live DAC
Curt Ekstrom if people knew what good music was he wouldn’t be broke. Sounds like to me he’s just staying one step ahead of the system. Long live DAC. The original Rhinestone Cowboy
Strikeing he looks just like Albert pike ._..Dots
His voice is pure poetry
Will be 77 on Sept 6 and I am invited to his party
awesome
well done
ghengy u apparently wouldn't know good music if it run up and fucked u in you're ass!!!!! David Allan Coe is country music!!
1000th like! I'm so cool
+Daryl Miller : 1124 now
My favorite rendition.
+Dave Retchless all his are my favs ;)
The best version of this song without question! Also one of the best and underrated songs ever.
Cold play
amazing
I personally think this is one of the best remakes of a song! Great job DAC!
he wrote it, sold it, and owned it.
He wrote it!
@Shamrock Power I tell you Brian I just don't know. For twenty years I was told loggins wrote it. One day and old fellow told me D.A.C wrote it.. if you Google it, Google says loggins.. Google it again and it will say David Allen Coe.. I give the HELL up! I have even heard Joan Boaz or whatever co wrote the song..
@The Zodiac help me out zodiac,, did loggins or DOC write this song?
@Eddie Barnett I heard David Allen Coe and Joan Baez wrote it together ... lol. No kidding. All I know is ... Loggins version is better :). No one wants to give David Allen Coe any recognition for anything because of his "other" songs.
DAC doing this song is the very definition of cognitive dissonance. Sounds great, though.
coe wrote this song morons
In my opinion best version
Except Dave Loggins of course! No one can ever touch Dave Loggins on this epic song.
Hands down from a BOSTON BOY
You seem to go to every country version and make your Hippie reference. Dave Loggins is from Mountain City, Tennessee, and you don't get any more country than that. This song is about a drifter that's looking for work, so that rules out the Hippie theme. Peace!
Dac version my fav he's voice sounds more emotional then l
Do people really think that the person who sings a song must have written it? Thanks to Dave Loggins for writing this, and singing it better than anyone. DAC does a good job on it, however.
Classic.
God bless you Mr. Paycheck. Heaven has it's singer now
Are you lost or what
sclasscustoms dude what? David logins wrote this
GOOD SONG.
