Hey Cody, I am dealing with an issue with anger and resentment for racial justice. As a legally blind black male, I hear stories about how black people deal with racist attacks from whites. I've never experienced it myself, but I understand it's a big problem in our country. How do I forgive and love white people? I most definitely care about my people and other races. I just need to know what to do. I am a Christian man myself, always have been since I was a kid. It seems like things are getting worse.

He then visited and spoke with his disciples "after" His crucifixion on "the cross" and was witnessed by over 500 people after his "death" then he ascended into Heaven.
The "cross" is just a material object that you(Cody) as the artist are using to represent Jesus Christ but that itself is grounds for idolatry. Ultimately it is our Lord Jesus Christ who has the final Word, not "the cross."

I do take into consideration that this is your song that you have composed and written and that you may have a different interpretation of your own lyrics but it is a literal false teaching, and symbolically it is idolatry.

After my dad passed on i was angry at God, confused and all. Then i stumbled on this song and my healing began. I love the part that says "evil may put forth its strongest fight... the cross has the final word". I hear this song in my sleep many times and wake up to it in my heart on some days. There is really nothing greater than the name of Jesus.

The cross will always have the final word, it's for our sake that the cross of salvation began.

The cross of Jesus has the final word over all sin, shame, disease, fear, etc. Jesus said "it is finished" at the cross. And those three words of Jesus are the inspiration of this song. Just a thought, the cross was an instrument of death not life. If the cross truly had the final word then Jesus would still be dead. The Father, Son, and Holy Spirit had the final word not the Cross, nor the Romans nor the Jewish leaders. I would change the song to Jesus had the final word.

My wife calls it poetic license. However, the reality of the words in the song The Cross Has the Final Word means that Jesus lost. What you are really singing is a paradox. Either Jesus is all powerful and defeated death or the cross had the final word which means that Jesus is still dead. To be consistent with what you believe and what you are singing it should be Jesus had the final word not the cross. There is no cross of Jesus there is only the cross. The cross was designed to be instrument of execution. The cross of Jesus did not have final word over all sin, shame, disease, fear, etc. Jesus was victorious but the cross of Jesus did not. You said I am not saying the cross has the final word over Jesus but that is exactly what the words you sing mean.

Words (lyrics) matter, especially if they are apostate, blaspheme, contradict, or are heretical to, THE TRUTH. HE will not share HIS Glory with any created thing!

I heard this song last Friday at a Bethel United Church in Dyer Indiana I felt drawn to it but I did not understand why they were singing the "cross" has the final word. I felt led to look it up here. I think I understand what you are trying to say but I still can't agree. The redemptive blood of Jesus has the final word, The resurrection can even have the final word but the cross was just a method....or a vehicle to death of that day. It was a tool of execution. It would be like saying in modern times The electric chair has the final word or lethal injection has the final word. I will keep studying but as for now I cannot agree. There is no power in the cross ... but there IS power in the Name and Blood of Jesus.....Ressurection Power! Sorry to disagree here under the video but I do love the message you set out to convey.

@Cody Carnes That makes so much sense. When we feel hopeless, shame, guilt we can go to the cross. Thats why in the bible he told us to pick up our cross and follow me. We are following in christ foot steps. Just think about all the struggles Jesus went through leading up to his crucifixion. Jesus died for us knowing that if we repent of our sins and with the holy spirit one day we will be with him in paradise.

If you have problem go to Jesus. Jesus will fix it. He knows everything before you even ask him. That is how powerful God is.
