First learned of these girls when one-half member Bianca spoke highly of Missy Elliott in January 2006 by way of "Dazed & Confused" when she praised Missy's latest album "The Cookbook" (2005) and loved the eff out of Missy's sneakers collection. Stokes A I always feel like the darkness represents our greatest fears in a way of them presenting our thoughts. I think smokey taboo is content with herself and has a clear idea of who she is and what she stands for. She might be afraid of the surroundings but she's not illuminating the fear herself. That makes sense in my head although it's hard to explain lol

I've been obsessed with CocoRosie for 10 years +! I've spent a lot of time trying to find similar artists but few measure up. Definitely try Wilsen Anahita, Dillon 13 35, and Daughter Landfill, (all available here on YouTube.) Above comment about Joanna Newsome is a good tip too!
