Cockney Rebel - Here Comes The Sun Lyrics

(Little darling) it's been a long cold lonely winter
(Little darling) it feels like years since it's been clear
Here comes the sun, here comes the sun and I say
It's alright

(Little darling) the smiles returning to their faces
(Little darling) it seems like years since it's been here
Here comes the sun, here comes the sun and I say
It's alright

Sun sun sun, he comes
Sun sun sun, he comes
Sun sun sun, he comes

(Little darling) it seems like ice is slowly melting
(Little darling) it feels like years since it's been clear
Here comes the sun, here comes the sun and I say
It's alright, it's alright, it's alright, it's alright, it's alright, it's alright

Cockney Rebel Here Comes The Sun Comments
  1. C.... ....

It's funny singing a song celebrating the Sun, and in the meantime wearing sunglasses .... :-p

  2. J.... C....

Sang it there way rather than copy The Beatles. Love it

  3. S.... M....

A lesson in how to do a cover. And the drummer on this was awesome , really creative and funky.

  4. d.... ....

So cute. They ma-a-ayde it into a ji-i-ingle for thomas cook hols

    d.... ....

Hope he's not waiting for the royalty cheque...

  5. A.... B....

intro reminds of winters tale by david essex

  6. S.... B....

STEVE HARLEY's The Human Managerie and Psychomodo, best glam rocks ever!

  7. G.... W....

Wonderful memories of a happy time in my life

  8. g.... ....

thats, why aliens and animals wont talk with us anymore..

  9. J.... M....

This was a happy time in my life.

  10. G.... I....

    Top cover bro!

  11. G.... W....

I.m old and tired now this reminds me of when I was a young man chasing girls drinking cold lager with my friends in the best summer we have ever had what glory days they were and how I miss them and the friends that I never see anymore

  12. P.... M....

Summer 1976 and the shine has faded - throwaway cover of a great Beatles song. Up to this point Steve made rhree great albums that define him to this day.

  13. T.... ....

    Steve loves his horses!

  14. J.... R....

hate to admit it: 1976, I thought Steve Harley and Cockneey rrebel wrote

  15. P.... D....

Who isn't better than The Beatles, possibly the only act ever whose good material is wasted on them? :)

  16. t.... t....

I have 'Timeless Flight' and 'Love's a Prima Donna' on vinyl LP, and the wild keyboards on this LP track are more prominent, well worth finding a listen, they are brilliant - and all done with the fingers!
....and Horse Outside, I agree a pre-Paul Weller.

  17. g.... r....

Playing this while stuck in the house cause of Beast from the east. ,wishful  thinking.

  18. R.... L....

Great version remember this from the summer of 1976 when summer was a summer

  19. i.... m....

Like Beatles original but this is even better. In my Summer songs Top Ten.

  20. M.... S....

Classic for sure, def better than the Beatles!

  21. D.... S....

Still a classic by Steve and the Rebs.

  22. P.... D....

    this version is the best

  23. W.... A....

    Cheeky such a bore:-)

  24. B.... H....

    this version is bloody awful

    B.... H....

Agreed. The version done by american folk singer Richie Havens is pretty cool.

  25. p.... ....

So much better than the Beatles

    p.... ....

    you can't beat The Beatles

    p.... ....

    fuck off

    p.... ....

    the beatles rule

    p.... ....

    Absolutely

    p.... ....

Good version, but the vocals and synth layers on the Beatles' original make it the better song IMO. This version is tighter though.

  26. H.... O....

he was paul weller before paul weller.

  27. J.... R....

Das músicas mais lindas do Beatles

  28. l.... ....

... great version and Steve's 70s style porn-sunglasses are the icing on the cake!

  29. H.... F....

    Summer 76. Fabulous.

  30. i.... s....

While they were dressed up for an audition for Rainbow The Sex Pistols were Blasting out Punk in 1976

    i.... s....

+igor stein Yes they are different people in different bands making different types of music well done

    i.... s....

    +igor stein
So What Led Zeppelin & Yes had No 1 albums in 1977 Punk did not change music as much as you think

  31. J.... H....

Unusual to see an actual live performance for TOTPs

  32. H.... S....

    delightful presentiment of of PUNK

  33. H.... S....

    Killer gorgeous!

  34. M.... C....

The sun came all summer that year. It was scorch!

    M.... C....

  36. N.... B....

    Great Harley cover.

  37. G.... ....

IIRC 22nd July 1976 (particular exact TX date) of this performance now as it comes from a DLT edition.

  38. C.... ....

    Miming.
Great song but like most acts on TOTP, its a mime.

    C.... ....

    Don't think it is a mime !

    C.... ....

Sure it's a mime, hence the outrageous eye rolling and offhand bored act. Bit of pantomime for the audience.

    C.... ....

    so what

  39. N.... F....

brilliant track by a brilliant group one of the top groups of the seventies

  40. M.... ....

So in your opinion only people that actually play an instrument and sing in a band can have an opinion about music? I guess we should all become Professors in Politics to have an opinion about Obama then? Idiot.

  41. M.... ....

Right on. Two thumbs down to this garbage.

  42. M.... ....

Yeah, just as proud as the Rolling Stones must have been when the retarded freak known as "Britney" covered their shit.

  43. M.... ....

Wow. This idiot raped a beautiful song. What a shame, man.

  44. C.... ....

The sound quality is not the best but i would have to say. I dont agree. In fact I think it`s better than the beatles!

  45. R.... ....

Its good-try Steve Harley's 'Sebastian' -the long 10 minute version if you can find it.

  46. P.... C....

Great cockney attitude.....trumps georges version much as I like the beatles and george himself ...RIp

  47. R.... ....

    From my point of view.
The best way a Beatles song have ever been played..... :)

  48. m.... ....

awfull proggy and shite, no need

    m.... ....

    mickslyness
Of course it's proggy. It's 70s synth cover of George Harrison. What did you expect, hip-hop?

    m.... ....

Now know why punk had to happen... Thank god... Save the...

  54. d.... ....

@GBPaddling It's absolutely fine, the original is a little bland in comparison.

  55. G.... ....

Totally abysmal - don't believe me? listen the original,an example of a song that could NEVER be covered and made better, like Stairway to Heaven,or Bohemian Rhapsody,or Bridge Over Troubled Water.Classic songs should be left as they are and admired for all time, not copied and ruined!!

  56. T.... ....

Harry Hill ripped off those high collared shirts!!

  57. A.... P....

    @corpsemunger
    Agreed.

  58. B.... H....

  59. j.... ....

@JustLoveForMe No I have this on 'The Beatles Collection 1967-1970, and I really like Steve Harley's style as well.

  60. J.... ....

It was originally released on Abbey Road, is that what you have it on? I love this version, although I can understand why some people might not like it if they don't like his style, but I personally really like it :)

  61. j.... ....

@JustLoveForMe Yes George Harrison wrote this in 1969. I have the original on a Beatles Album. A great version this!

  62. J.... ....

RIP Lennon? George Harrison wrote this

  63. C.... W....

The bassist is probably the most epic win to walk the earth.

  68. J.... ....

What is that percussion instrument - a glockenspiel? I loved the Beatles original, but this has something different going for it that is really pleasant :)

    J.... ....

Haven't you heard of tubular bells?? That's the name of the instrument!

  69. G.... ....

IIRC July 22nd 1976. This performance really rocks and but someone has it timecoded on a full complete one.
