IMHO probably his best ballad taking into account the year it was recorded Cocker was going through a very hard time, I think it's the best performance of this Jimmy Webb's song

It's a Jimmie Webb song, and Webb is playing piano on this. I think this is the definitive version of the song. Everything else sounds pretty flat in comparison. Webb's masterpiece.

Radka Toneff don't sound flat. Both Joe and Radka us nailing this song. They are both very emotional.
I'd agree - Cocker's voice captures something else. At the same time, there's always Glen - his version on "Glen Campbell in session with Jimmy Webb."
