Cocker, Joe - Just Like A Woman Lyrics

Nobody feels any pain
Tonight as I stand here in the rain.
Everybody knows that baby's got new clothes,
But lately I see her ribbons and her bows
Have fallen from her curls.

She takes just like a woman.
She makes love just like a woman.
And then she aches just like a woman.
But she breaks just like a little girl.

Queen Mary, she's my friend.
Yes I believe I'll go see her again.
Nobody has to guess that baby can't be blessed
'Till she finally sees that she's like all the rest
With her fog, her amphetamines, and her pearls.

She takes just like a woman.
She makes love just like a woman.
And then she aches just like a woman.
But she breaks just like a little girl.

It raining at first, and I was dying there of thirst,
So I came in here.
And your long-time curse hurts, but what's worse
Is this pain in here.
I can't stay in here.
Ain't it clear...

That I just can't fit.
I believe it's time for us to quit.
But when we met again and are introduced as friends,
Please don't let on that you knew me when
I was hungry, and it was your world.

You take just like a woman.
You make love just like a woman.
And then you ache just like a woman.
But you break just like a little girl.

Love this version - Joe sang with so much soul.  His take on I Shall Be Released from around this time is also pretty special.

Joe tu resteras à jamais dans nos cœurs, avec ta voix très particulier, nous avons toujours le sentiment d'être très proche de toi. Ton corps est loin, mais ta voix raisonne encore en nous.

  13. M.... V....

I love this version! Also check Nina Simone's and Jeff Buckley's! And just out of admiration for these artists, here is mine :)

  18. C.... H....

Watched the doc about Joe on Sky Arts (april 22nd 2017) Reduced me to tears again especially his last concert in Germany. As he walked off you could tell he knew that was the end.

  19. A.... T....

Best version I've heard. A man of soul.

  20. b.... ....

I missed seeing Joe in Detroit in 1970 on his Mad Dogs and Englishmen tour.  Had tickets to the second show Saturday night  but the people from the first show wouldn't leave.  Cops got called.  One of the greatest and most unique voices.

    Assim Como Uma Mulher

    Nobody feels any pain
Tonight as I stand inside the rain
    Ev'rybody knows
    That Baby's got new clothes
But lately I see her ribbons and her bows
    Have fallen from her curls.
She takes just like a woman, yes, she does
She makes love just like a woman, yes, she does
And she aches just like a woman
But she breaks just like a little girl.

    Não consigo me adaptar

  22. T.... B....

This wonderfully soulful voice was silenced just a few year's ago in 2014, but it will live on through songs like this moving cover of Dylan's classic!

  23. G.... W....

Not taking away from Bob Dylan greates songwtiter who wrote and sang this song.
But Joe does this one better, imo. Always loved his music since the early 70s.

    G.... W....

Guess Who, I could not agree more. Dylan is a much better songwriter than he is a performer even though I do like his version of the song as well. Joe totally knocked this out of the ball park s he did other covers. RIP, Joe.

    G.... W....

You should listen to Jeff Buckley's version, it's the best one in my opinion

    G.... W....

JEFF BUCKLEY YUK NOW HIS DAD TIM THATS MORE LIKE IT

Matthew Fisher (Procol Harum) on organ. Great performances all around.

  26. T.... C....

JOE YOU COUD SING ANYTHING YOUR THE MAN

  27. J.... C....

One of the greatest stage performers of his time.... saw him at the Midwest Rock Festival, about a month before Woodstock.... Blind Faith was there, Led Zepplin, Jeff Beck when Rod Stewart was in his band, Rich Havens, Buffy Ste. Marie, so many more.... because it was put together in less than a week, less than 100,000..... But also people who wanted to play couldn't break contracts.... Just to see his performance... song stretched to maybe 15 min. was worth the whole thing...

  28. K.... R....

    best cover ever

Beautiful song. A great singer well missed.

  37. C.... H....

God how brilliant Joe was.  It was like losing family when he passed over.  Proud to be from near his hometown of Sheffield.  Pity he never got the recognition he deserved in the UK.

  38. D.... W....

Damn good. Such a pity it isn't live.
