Cocker, Joe - Can't Find My Way Home Lyrics

Come down off your throne and leave your body alone.
Somebody must change.
You are the reason I've been waiting so long.
Somebody holds the key.

[Chorus:]
But I'm near the end and I just ain't got the time
And I'm wasted and I can't find my way home.

Come down on your own and leave your body alone.
Somebody must change.
You are the reason I've been waiting all these years.
Somebody holds the key.

[Chorus]

But I can't find my way home.
But I can't find my way home.
But I can't find my way home.
But I can't find my way home.
Still I can't find my way home,
And I ain't done nothing wrong,
But I can't find my way home.

    Special

  2. T.... ....

    Cocker not Coocker.

  3. M.... G....

I have heard several others sing this song...but....this song NEEDS Joe's voice. It only sounds right with Joe singing it!

  4. T.... S....

He found his way home. In memory of the best singer of his generation.

  5. J.... E....

George Carlin said that “white guys” had no reason, nor should they ever sing “the Blues.” Maybe, Professor Carlin never sat down and paid attention to the genius and talent of the likes of Joe Cocker, Robert Plant, et al. Oh, well... George wasn’t always right!
Rest in Peace, Joe! I love ya, Bro!👍❤️😁🙏🏻

    J.... E....

Jon, you might enjoy reading George Carlin's autobiography, "Last Words". Brilliant guy. But as you wrote, "George wasn't always right!"

  6. N.... W....

Leave it to Joe...hell yeah! Grand Master at work. The 🎸 is killing it . Sing it Joe.

  7. N.... B....

Yes, I miss him too. This version is better than the original in my opinion.

  8. M.... C....

I *L-O-V-E* this song and have for years ever since I heard it the first time. I was so blown away when it was used in Tennyson and the feeling of love for this song returned. I hope that Mr.Cocker is singing for the angels now. He is indeed missed so very much.

  9. P.... P....

There will never be another Joe cocker

  10. D.... M....

Lavandina, PLEASE write Joe's surname right in title.

I have loved Joe's music for about 50 years. Finally in summer 2012 I attended a Joe Cocker concert. Fabulous beyond words!

  14. F.... V....

    extraordinary version!

  15. .... ....

Балдею от его голоса, от его музыки.Бесконечно можно смотреть на его руки,как - будто бы пальцы перебирают струны гитары или ноты.

  16. T.... ....

The first time I saw this bloke perform live was in 1977, at Festival Hall in Brisbane. The tour kicked off at, of all places, a resort up the coast named Great Keppel Island, which was, at the time, being promoted as a resort attraction for the younger set. Their advertising tag was "I got wrecked in Great Keppel Island"! If television interviews and reports are anything to go on, Joe and his old mates, Bobby Keyes and Nicky Hopkins, did their very best to get as wrecked as possible themselves.

Despite all of the drunken behaviour and the then common sight of Joe suddenly bolting off behind the amps to lean over a conveniently placed bucket, the band got better and better as the tour progressed further south and they attracted more interest. So much so that extra shows were added. I think he ended up doing 5 shows just in Melbourne and one of the shows in Adelaide was televised. Not a bad effort for a so called washed up soul singer with a drinking problem. It stands in stark contrast to the disastrous tour in 1972, were he became a pawn in a political game, orchestrated by a politician facing an election and a police force that was more than willing to play up to the press for the sake of a few headlines.

I've often wondered about the irony of Joe being an Englishman who was less popular in his own country than he was in the U.S. and Australia and also places like Germany. Aussie crowds loved the bloke and no matter what condition he was in, they turned up at his shows in their droves. I think his free-wheeling attitude to life and his seemingly casual ability to shrug off a lot of the problems that came his way, appealed greatly to a lot of Aussies. He epitomised the Little Aussie Battler, except he did it with a Yorkshire accent!

We will never see a singer like him ever again.

  17. R.... T....

Amazing version. RIP, Joe. A great loss...

  18. S.... J....

Love this version. I got wasted once ( 40 years ago ) on some good panama red and couldn't find my way home for hours.

  19. K.... ....

    BEST FOREVER.....

  20. J.... f....

12 idiots gave this a thumbs down apparently. What do they know about music I say.

  21. S.... J....

His name is Joe Cocker not Cooker.

  22. J.... f....

    Outstanding.

  23. J.... f....

Prime Suspect 1973 brought me here.

  24. T.... I....

I think Joe does the most soulful version of this song I've ever heard. BTW, his last name is Cocker, not Coocker.

  25. j.... b....

R.I.P Joe. Original song by Blind Faith 1969-1970

  26. L.... M....

Glad I. Got to see him live

  27. B.... B....

I miss you so much Ronny.....damn it. why did you let addictions destroy the beauty of "us"? we were so perfect! Get down off your thrown.....our son holds the key....my heart breaks every single day, when I'm alone and watching him grow without you.

  28. R.... K....

Joe Cocker was one of those singers who added a special signature to everything he would sing, through feeling and soul. Too many good makers of music leaving so soon.

  29. J.... B....

When he smiles, it's just so perfect. He knows.

  30. O.... L....

Try it at 0.75 speed... Makes the pleasure last longer!

  31. V.... L....

    Dans benny et joon merci

  32. s.... ....

Totally one of a kind voice. He lived in my state for awhile apparently. As with most on this cut, Benny and Joon is where I'd first heard him as a kid. However, this tune does remain my favorite from his catalog. Much prefer his take on it than Winwood's.

  33. T.... M....

    we miss you

  34. D.... M....

    Fave song.

  35. C.... S....

Prime Suspect 1973 brought me here. What a superb song to use for the start of the first episode.

    C.... S....

Me three. Great music in the show & Joe really gets into this performance.

    C.... S....

Me 4. Great opening to a great series. Superb song that I can't believe I hadn't discovered until now...

    C.... S....

Me too. I knew it was going to be a good programme by using this song.

    C.... S....

    I should've said me 5! Ruined it 😂

    C.... S....

Same here! I got cold chills hearing the first notes coming out of the kitchen making dinner and thought, "That's Joe Cocker!" This has always been my favorite song by him. :-D I was born at the tail end of 1969 and my mom raised me up on his music and the music from the 60's and 70's. Prime Suspect 1973 not only blew it out of the park with this song for the start of the first episode, but the whole soundtrack is absolutely incredible! :-)

  36. l.... ....

    prime suspect 1973

  69. S.... Q....

When he sings "I'm weary", you believe it.

  70. q.... ....

´´1972 ? i havent got any memories of that year.I simply cannot remember..`` quote :Joe Cocker.

    q.... ....

quogir1 I HAVE that same problem a lot ! 1973 ?75?77? Then I married the girl that I am still married to and SHE saved me ! I think that God sent me to her.

  71. L.... ....

Best version ( aside from the original of course) I've ever heard of this song....just beautiful.

  72. J.... H....

A song perfect for spending around a night awake at Lavalle, with some glasses of Criadores...
I love that Argentine whisky! ?)

  73. P.... P....

Love this song, so much---almost as much as I love JOE COCKER !

  74. M.... ....

Joe is astounding and spellbinding in a live performance. Saw him about 10 years ago in Tacoma.

  75. j.... s....

One might argue Joe is vocally the "Satchmo" of his generation. A distinctive voice and an "acquired taste" aurally, but always beautiful to listen to.

  76. s.... ....

along side the other greats - Windwood and Clapton - Oh Lord!!! What a generation!! I'm soooo glad that I recall such gemsbreaking through!

  77. 6.... ....

This is my favorite version of "Can't Find My Way Home". It's just so much more powerful, full, and richer in tone. Don't get me wrong, I love the others but this is the one!

  78. B.... K....

Mr. Cocker always puts an awsome new sound to songs
