Cockburn, Bruce - Mystery Lyrics

You can't tell me there is no mystery
Mystery
Mystery
You can't tell me there is no mystery
It's everywhere I turn

Moon over junk yard where the snow lies bright
Snow lies bright
Snow lies bright
Moon over junk yard where the snow lies bright
Can set my heart to burn

Stood before the shaman, I saw star-strewn space
Star-strewn space
Star-strewn space
Stood before the shaman, I saw star strewn space
Behind the eye holes in his face

Infinity always gives me vertigo
Vertigo
Vertigo
Infinity always gives me vertigo
And fills me up with grace

I was built on a Friday and you can't fix me
You can't fix me
You can't fix me
I was built on a Friday and you can't fix me
Even so I've done okay

So grab that last bottle full of gasoline
Gasoline
Gasoline
Grab that last bottle full of gasoline
Light a toast to yesterday

And don't tell me there is no mystery
Mystery
Mystery
And don't tell me there is no mystery
It overflows my cup

This feast of beauty can intoxicate
Intoxicate
Intoxicate
This feast of beauty can intoxicate
Just like the finest wine

So all you stumblers who believe love rules
Believe love rules
Believe love rules
Come all you stumblers who believe love rules
Stand up and let it shine
Stand up and let it shine

Regardless of Peter's views, and he is entitled to have them, God knows - his art is seriously stunning and I believe that Cockburn would be honoured to see his words put to such beauty :) Your art is glorious to the eyes and to the soul, Peter.

@PainterofPaint OOPS My bad: It was Samir Selmanovic:
'Atheism at its best grabs us by the collar and throws us to the ground, demanding to see lives well lived, forcing us to dig deeper and live up to the best of our own religions…Atheists are God’s whistleblowers.' - Samir Selmanovic

    G.... ....

"any fool can ask more questions than a wise man can answer" but a man of understanding will find himself in the kings presence...

    G.... ....

If atheists are God's whistleblowers means they believe in him. "
"No atheists in the foxholes". And that's where it really counts.

  18. R.... S....

@PainterofPaint As I said, I know Brucie is very much a man of the left but he's far more insightful than any of the American left wing bomb throwers. Plus he seems to actually care for the dispossessed instead of using their existence to further denigrate the people he might disagree with.

    R.... S....

    Too true!

  19. G.... ....

@silvi01977 If by 'some of my slogans' you mean images of former president George W. Bush, I would ask you to study some of the other songs in same album "Life Short Call Now". And while I don't concur with everything Bill Maher stands for, I do feel people like him (and people like George Carlin ..) help keep religious people and/or "middle of the roaders" on their toes. Who was it who said "atheists are God's whistle blowers"? Anyway, I'm glad you like the paintings and the song.

  20. R.... S....

Good song, good paintings. As a longtime Cockburn fan I know that he's no conservative but he's never been part of the reactionary fringe that Bill Maher or some of your slogans seem to have been picked from. It cheapens an otherwise interesting video.
