Cockburn, Bruce - Clocks Don't Bring Tomorrow, Knives Don't Bring Good News Lyrics

You tell me tomorrow may be coming
Sometimes I wonder if it hasn't already been
But like the firebreathing rebel
I'm not sure what I mean
All I know is you're not me and that you'll never be

He tells me the future is not to be believed in
"Don't waste your wishes on what hasn't already been"
But like the strong arm policeman
He's not sure what he means
All he knows is he can't see what he will come to be

He says if we burn up the roof from above us
We surely will see the light and maybe more
But like the burnt out hooker
We'll only see down to the floor
All we know is that we're here until we are set free

  1. B.... L....

Eugene also plays a great lead guitar on this number. Great blast from the past.

  2. B.... L....

    Pure Bruce Cockburn.

  3. M.... C....

As a long time Bruce Cockburn fan, the last piano portion of the end of this song is one of my all time favorites. He is such a talented guitarist, the addition of the keyboards on this one really stands out to me.

  4. l.... ....

    Great song, overproduced, as usual

+lejoe48 yeah...it took T-bone Burnett to get him to learn how to end a song. Still, this is one of my favorite songs/albums of his.

    l.... ....

lejoe48 In "Rumors Of Glory" Bruce said Night Vision was an attempt to make it sound like more of a band than a solo album. Whether you see that as a good or bad thing is up to you.

    l.... ....

    Nope...like it just like that...

    l.... ....

Over produced - as in too many instruments / sounds? I would say No.

  5. K.... ....

There was a time when this never left my CD tray. Thanks for posting.
