Cochrane, Tom - Breaking Curfew Lyrics

Walk out
Through the rain
Where the sound of your own footsteps
Speak of change
When we take our refuge
In a higher place
Somewhere no one knows
We'll meet it face to face

Breaking the curfew
Walking where we want to
Dodging the big lights up on the wall
Stand tall

Stand up
Don't slip away
Thought they had you tied and beaten
Not today

When someone tries to tell you
That I was never here
Or our love is obsolete
Turn away, stand clear

Look out
Don't walk away
Could have been that finest hour
Break the chains
We're the ones who feed
The wind that blow again
Screams behind the barricade
Stop the bloody rain

My favorite Red Rider song by far. Did not know it was their song until maybe 8 years ago although I first heard it in the early 90s .

I somehow by the grace of god I suppose found this album in the States, pretty far from the Canadian border and was honestly surprised I found these guys. I bought this album for 50 cents and it played just fine

This is the only clip of the acoustic version I can find anywhere, intriguing yet so mysterious

    B.... W....

This acoustic intro of Breaking Curfew is on Tom Cochrane’s box set Ashes To Diamonds. The rest of the song starting with the drum intro is on the Breaking Curfew album.

I was out on summer vacation in B.C. My sister played this song and I just felt like partying.
Wow to be that young again.
Ever since then it's been on my playlist.

Plays at the bush parties lots. Be sure to come back for another visit.

seen them live promoting this album...... awesome

I’ve seen quite a few Tom Cochrane concerts but not one of the album Breaking Curfew. It’d be curious thing to hear those songs live.

If I remember correctly, the acoustic portion was recorded in Africa during one of Tom Cochrane's World Vision Ambassador tours.

The acoustic rendition that you are thinking of on Tom Cochrane’s World Vision tour is “Not So Far Away” originally on TC & Red Riders album Victory Day album but recorded in acoustic I believe with some children listening in Mozambique. It is on the box set “Ashes To Diamonds.”

Last friday i was out in the city with my friend in a pub and when we went out for a smoke i suddenly discovered this song being played on some online rock/metal radio on the speakers placed outside and i was like daaamn what's this ?! So i recognized it with my smartphone. Since then i listen to this song 24/7. DAMN what a catchy tune!!

this song sweet and cool and awsome!!!!!

Got stuck in a ridiculous traffic jam on my way to work today. This song came on the radio, so I rolled down my windows and sang along at the top of my lungs.  You just gotta sometimes, ya know?

This has got to be my favourite Red Rider song, can't believe I've never heard it on the radio. Lunatic Fringe is okay, but if you're going to play something over and over just to meet the Canadian content quota, come on! Expand the catalogue and play some of these great tunes too!

    v.... O....

I hear it lots on the radio here in BC. It was a hit before anything came out from Neruda when RedRider finally really got noticed.

    v.... O....

They play it on our local classic rock station

One word for you Mike..... AdBlock+..... I NEVER see ads on any Youtube video

  14. t.... ....

Too bad about the stupid ads opening the songs. Takes a lot away from the buildup to the song which is immensely underated. YouTube is going into the shithouse with all the freaking garbage you have to close before you can hear the song. If they want to make money why don't they just let us sign up to a YouTube music account where we put $20 into it and if we want to hear a song, we click yes and it costs 5 cents and then we get to listen to it on UToob anytime we want. They'd make gillions.

  15. d.... ....

    they were the real deal.

  16. K.... ....

@PainDealer86 Same here, man... 1984 wasn't a bad year, but a decade earlier would've been great. At least we can still hold on to great music like this, instead of the crap they're pumping out today.

  17. x.... ....

Seriously blows my mind with his lyrics, We must protect earth and humans, as well the resources.

  18. 4.... ....

    Thanks, this is simply fantastic.

    @cletortain I know what you mean, I wish I was born -76 instead of -86 :D
