Cochran, Eddie - Hallelujah I Love Her So Lyrics

Let me tell you about a girl I know
She's my baby and I love her so
Every morning when the sun comes up
She brings me coffee in my favorite cup
That's why I know, yes I know
Hallelujah I just love her so

When I call her on the telephone
Saying: "Eddy's all alone"
By the time I count from one to four
She'll be knocking on my door

In the evening when the sun goes down
And there ain't nobody else around
She kisses me and she holds me tight
Eddy baby everything is alright
That's why I know, yes I know
Hallelujah I just love her so

In the evening when the sun goes down
And there ain't nobody else around
She kisses me and she holds me tight
Eddy baby everything is alright
That's why I know, yes I know
Hallelujah I just love her so

Hallelujah I just love her so
Hallelujah I just love that chick so

Stupid Rolling Stone Magazine never even lists him in their 100 great guitarists. In the studio, Eddie was a Glen Campbell before Glen Campbell, doing the guitar tracks for several performers in those days. Eddie could have sat in with 'The Wrecking Crew' anytime he wanted. BTW, that's Gene Riggio of 'The Kelly Four' back there on the drums. This photo may actually be from the "Hallelujah" recording session.

She'll be on my door, well

Says "Eddie baby, everything's all right"
    That's how I know, yes, I know

Lemme tell you baby, in the evening when the sun goes down
And there ain't nobody else around
She kisses me and then she holds me tight
    Says "Eddie baby, everything's swingin'"

@Mervyn Mather To the best of my knowledge, that's still the case although there's a rumour that a copy of the Boy Meets Girls footage is in someone's possession in the States. Whether there's any truth to that is another matter. I would be surprised if it was...

The great Eddie Cochran. There is currently a TV advert here in South Africa that features either Ray Charles's original or a very good impersonation thereof. It occurred to me that I hadn't heard Eddie's version in many years - so here I am. I suppose it's defective memory, but I have in my mind that Eddie's version had a background of strings. Am I correct in this - probably not; or could there be more than one version?
I remember in 1960 (I was nine years old!) when he came to Britain - for that fateful tour - that this was his current single and he played it on 'Oh Boy' and, perhaps, other TV shows. Was this his last non-posthumous release? He had so much charisma and talent. I couldn't help but shed a tear when I heard of his death and even now I feel a great sense of loss. Thank you for uploading.

+promerops This is the version Eddie wanted to have released. The strings were added after and apparently he was furious when he heard them. This story was told to me by Jim Stivers, who played piano on this session for Eddie. The UK TV show Eddie performed this on was Boy Meets Girl.

Eddie often had takes with and w/o strings, or background vocals, e.g. "C'mon Everybody" with strings/"Let's Get Together"w/o; "Little Angel" w. and w/o background vocals; this song "Hallelujah...", and there was another I can't remember off-hand. I always preferred "without" b/c I like the raw sound of the rock 'n Roll band. I think a lot of it was that the producers, coming out of the Big Band era, preferred a more orchestrated sort of music. Luckily, Eddie transitioned into a more independent road when he started doing his own stuff. The producers always wanted to sugar-coat it.

Cover of Ray Charles 1956 debut single. Demoed by the early Beatles in 1960. Covered by the Animals in 1964(?). All 3 and the original are in my "Beatles covers and uncovers 2" playlist. Thanks for the upload!
