Clutch - Scavengers Lyrics
Behind the surgeon's tent
Muzzles at the door
Wait for the scraps
Growl for more
Under the shadow
The crown of creation
Victim of fleeces
And ichor up to his neck
So say the chorus of predator drones
Cower as savages, fight over bones
Campfires cool under violet skies
One by one the scavengers rise
The trenches are filled
The ledger runs black
The wagon man is paid
Outside the surgeon's tent
There's a look in their eyes
And the crown of creation
Is more than happy to oblige
So say the chorus of predator drones
Cower as savages, fight over bones
Campfires cool under violet skies
One by one the scavengers rise
Will you accompany me to Manassas and watch the show?
Perch on the picket, watch the whole thing unfold?
See how they leave their standards and run with pieces of country and gods?
When they are dust it's just between us, the shovel, the vulture, the dogs

Clutch Scavengers Comments
Hell yeah!
Even their bonus tracks are insanely good, Clutch is without a doubt the best band I have ever heard.

"will you accompany me to Manasses and watch the show?
"see how they leave their standards and run, with pieces of country and gods"
Slick references to the battle of Bull Run (Manasses) where citizens of DC actually made the treck and would picnic on a nearby hill to watch the battle. And they got caught up in the Union Army's unorganized retreat.

Clutch "Scavengers" (Bonus Track - Earth Rocker Deluxe Edition)

Thanks MrStonebeliever
It's amazing this was cut from the final tracks of the album. This song is fucking great. Clutch never disappoints....even their leftovers are tasty and filling....
They almost have enough songs to do that, AFAIK of. There's at least 10 non-album tracks from Robot Hive and on scattered throughout re-issues, vinyl editions, deluxe editions and 7" releases. When you put 'em all together and find a nice order it makes a killer playlist.
I'll have to give that a try. I've only found a relative handful (mostly ones from PW and ER(2)) from post-RH/E albums.
There are so many unrecorded songs too, several from 1999-2004, like Medula, Slow Boat, High Priest, Alkaline, and Hot off the Grill, that you can find on youtube. Can only imagine how many from other eras.
Some of their legitimately best songs are bonus tracks.
@H V Been saying this for years... Slow Hole (the '09 re-release) is probably my fav by them...
spread out our wings and watch the whole thing unfold
Great fucking track. Lyrically, it reminds me of The Elephant Riders.
That snare sounds incredible
Sick drumming...can't understand why this didn't make the album...killer tune
@notafraidoffuture dream theatre is great, this is great.. the only thing that sucks here is you.
@TheLasagneLP If you want to call ordinary music great then knock yourself out. At least you aren't idiotic enough to say Dream Theater sucks.
@gamerwarus He started the bashing by making ridiculous comments on a Dream Theater video. I make it a point to ridicule buffoons on youtube. You can't bash Dream Theater, call them ordinary and "like" this shit and get away with it.
@notafraidoffuture Stop acting like your opinions are the end-all-be-all. The fact you felt the need to follow this guy around and mock what he likes is sad. He's a buffoon for not liking what you like? Get the fuck over yourself. Just because you think Dream Theater is the best doesn't mean they fucking are, stop being an ass. I think Clutch is the best, but I don't go around and act like they are. What you think is best is dependent on your tastes, you are not the Commissar of Opinions. I can't believe I have to explain opinions and subjectivity to someone, fucking Christ...
@gamerwarus Then explain that to your clutch buddy so he doesn't do the same thing on DT videos and then I will gladly leave. Why give me all of the heat when he started it
?
Killer f*cking tune...long live clutch
goddamn, so good!
Awesome been waiting to hear this one thanks for the upload.
Do you have 'Night Hag?'
Yeah man....I just uploaded it now
@MrStonebeliever Thanks Dude much appreciated :)
Quite possibly some of Neil's best lyrics. Its a damn shame it didn't make it on the original release of Earth Rocker. Definitely one of my favorites.
Gotta agree. That chorus is easily up there for favourite C! choruses. Sad this song and Night Hag never made it to the original, but if you bought the white Earth Rocker Live deluxe CD, Night Hag is track 4 and Scavengers is track 12.
Damn shame indeed. One of the best tunes they've written.
It's by design. With so many people buying digital these days, they put a couple of good songs on the vinyl releases to prompt people to buy physical, from which they (probably) stand to make more money. Smart move, if I do say so myself.
good way to start Mondays...CLUTCH.
