Clutch - Gimme The Keys Lyrics
Squinting from blinding rays of the Sun
Deep in the heart of July
There to perform for children of corn
Whose crop stood well twelve foot high
Three knaves remained to the end of the day
Standing our ground we played for the ears
Between the harvester's teeth
Great Plains hardcore scenes
May not be the biggest but Lord they're mean
And though my mind has been shot to hell
The details of that night I remember well
Gravel and locust they swore to rope us
We did our best to steer straight
Praying to Jesus and the holy saints
Despite the violence, sometimes I look back
A nostalgia begins to take hold
Wisdom of sorts is found in due course
In the rows of silver and gold
Great Plains hardcore scenes
May not be the biggest but Lord they're mean
And though my mind has been shot to hell
The details of that night I remember well
Gimme the keys, they can keep the guarantee
Gimme the keys and get the hell out of Dodge
Hey man we don't got your
We don't got your SM-57
Look dude why don't you
Try some old fashioned P.M.A.?
Through bloody butchers we ran for hours
Then hours grew into years
Stalked by the fury of John Brown's eyes
And still the storm hasn't cleared
Despite the mileage sometimes I look back
A nostalgia begins to take hold
Wisdom of sorts is found of course
In rows of silver and gold
Great Plains hardcore scenes
May not be the biggest but Lord they're mean
And though my mind has been shot to hell
The details of that night I remember well
Gimme the keys, they can keep the guarantee
Gimme the keys and get the hell out of Dodge

Maybe Budweiser should hear this shit Im like an old crow I likes my corn
Awsome, kinda reminds me of deep purple & Black sabbath
Neil's lyrics spin a lot of strange and exotic tales, but this song really hits home just how absurd life on the road must be. One of my favorite songs from this album, if not ever.
I'm d 'runk white now. What's this thing about skinheads?
Lyrically reminiscent of the Clutch Clutch era.
Trop bien
Fuckn great band been a fan since early 90s come to new Zealand clutch

My favorite song as of This Moment In Time is give me the keys this one right here I love it I listen to the whole YouTube thing this and there was another song I think it's the last song on the album was good forget the name of it I think it's titled after a girl but anyway I love this
Hey John Paul I know you and the guys read my comments on that one song when it first came out so I know that you guys are telepathically in communication with me and we all are with each other but give me a signal or a heads up 2 months before you guys want to get together and start going over songs for the next album [email protected] I'm going to write the first song tonight I need a way to communicate with you so you can put the drum beat to it well in advance of anybody else injecting or projecting anything not pure into the song yet you must put the drum beat in your mind as soon as you hear the song so I don't know how I'm going to send you this please contact me thank you
This song makes eating pretzel chips and mexa-cali dip a hearty binge of satisfaction! 🤘🤘
I will forever find it weird that this song was released the same day I bought my second car ever, a Dodge.
Oh, the coincidence..!
Love the story behind this song!
Surely Lawrence Kansas being a longtime home for William S. Burrouhgs is a coincidence...
I think this about a gig at the outhouse out side of Lawrence KS. ......I was there!
Simply the greatest band making music today!
Can't wait to see these guys in Amsterdam next month , new album Rocks!.
Now this is great music. Nothing better then Clutch!!!
this may sound weird but I remember Clutch having released the song ''Gimme the Keys'' years ago. i never heard it but it popped up in my autocomplete.
or am i going insane?
So pumped to see them finally on the 23rd
So, are the details of the story written anywhere? I am intrigued.
YES.....FINALLY!!!!!!
All over an SM57?? Lol
Great tune
All I can say is WTF
CLUTCH IS MY DRUG
It is gettin better by the spin....
awesome I love it. :)
The ole' Outhouse. Grew up seeing many bands (including Clutch) play then spent many a dollar in my adult days seeing some titties.
Good job on the music..... the rest sounds tragic 😂😂
Can't wait for the tour, looking forward to some live clutch in Amsterdam.
I haven't seen them yet. Hell I just been turned on to them a couple months ago I'm looking forward to seeing them in concert.
As always, good stuff. Looking forward to the wife seeing her first live Clutch show next month.

https://youtu.be/m3V-yKsCV3s Clutch - Gimme the Keys live at Tuska 2018 festival in Finland
THIS BAND literally kept me alive in the day.
C L U T C H rules! Seen 'em about 26 times and this October again in NYC!
New Clutch is always welcome. Pretenders weep.
That picture at 2:33 is amazing
I was worried the album would be to much like How To Shake Hands, which I only heard today, thankfully seen this song after, much better. Looking forward to the new album.
Sounds better with every listen.
Sept. 29th in Atlanta, eh? Well, alright then.
I love it! It reminds of early day Clutch when they had a little bit of punk sound to them. Regardless, it is Clutch and it is GREAT!
thats why pres can only serve 2 terms, cause "three times is jive"
As much as I loved the last 2 albums, they seemed too stripped back and concise. These new tracks just seem to have some of that earlier feel and freedom. Love it!
Clutch is still kicking ass . This is proof . Don't leave your hateful comments on here ,leave them on whatever trending Dogshit you invested three weeks into only to find out they're just Jehovah's Witnesses and not really Doom Metal Wizard Caca with an illegable logo . My Balls.
I just drummed my steering wheel loose
I took my pants off in 3 seconds...
We were there that night The Good'ol Outhouse what a great venue .
Old fashioned PMA!! Right on brother
THANK YOU
old fashioned PMA... love the reference
Maize haze
Nice to see my favourite band is also a Trump supporter too :)
Heres the flyer for that show: https://pbs.twimg.com/media/Dd-glvSVwAA21p2.jpg
He didnt call me a "Knave" by name, so I cant sue him. LOL!
I cant figure out how to extract internet drama-dollars out of this, so I'll be standing in the cornfield and for $2 dollars I will point people at the exact spot behind the Outhouse where this happened.
The Outhouse was a truly amazing time and place, Clutch's experience there was extremely rare, and maybe had a bit more to do with their OWN "PMA".
See my comments here: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4wLX3J_8pcM&lc=UgwJ3pcslOuOIz3j5n54AaABAg
Dont get me wrong, because I think "Book Of Bad Decisions" is a great concept for an album. I have no clue what the other songs are like. I love "Tour story songs" (With the exception that ANY band that covers "Turn the page" should be shot. And of course Fallon took some poetic and artistic license (And a thesaurus) to make this song out of that incident. But thats OK, I mean, no one takes "The Wreck of The Edmond Fitzgerald" as a historical record of that shipwreck.
Everyone is wrong its sounds like more psychic warfare and a can already tell it's going be kickass with the new song how to shake hands I have listened to live on YouTube a dozen times.
Look dude! Why don't you!!
Don't know what to think on the song. Guess it needs a bit of time and listens.
Belt rules!
The greatest rock band ever
They're surely great.
So good...
Omelete?
Stoneruț.
I have mixed feelings. I'm interested to see how the rest of the album is.
I know the Outhouse well.
Plus I grew up in Dodge.
Heh heh.
Gimme the Clutch!
FUKN CLUTCH BABY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The Outhouse in Lawrence was a fucking crazy fucking place! Fucking awesome to see Neil write a song about it!
