The vocals are strange on this one. Sounds like a different guy almost.

Sounds like he's singing in a lower register and distorting his voice more like on cuts like "Strange Year" or "Pattern Walks." It took a few listens, but I like it a lot.

What I loved about you Cloud Nothings was the Fugazi swagger of No Future/No Past, and the At The Drive In intensity of Wasted Days. The stuff I really didn't like was the more pop punk hooky stuff. Unfortunately for me, this is the latter and not the first two. Maybe it'll grow on me like The Hotelier kinda did, but I just feel like this is not for me. Wish you all the best though, you're good dudes and you shred.

You heard The Echo of the World yet? I'd say that track would have a bigger appeal for your tastes rather than this track. Plus, CN's songs always sound in the context of the album imo. I'd say wait till the album comes out and give that a listen before writing them off.

Smooth Operator yeah it sounds a lot like a live performance rather than a studio recording

Reading the bandcamp's description of the new record gives me the impression that this is on purpose, as they seem to be pursuing something closer to their live shows captured on record. It'll be interesting to see how these translate to an actual live setting. Seems like a lot of Life Without Sound's tracks were flat out better on their KEXP performance rather than the album version, so that could be an explanation for the return to the rawer, less refined takes.

These past 2 singles have been less than par in my opinion.

Energy on these new tracks is great. More raw than the last record but keeps all the hooks, keen for the LP.

This is kind of ehhhhhh
