Classified - Powerless Lyrics

It's hard to be strong when you feeling powerless

"I'm sorry that she is affected I did not ever intend to hurt anyone"
"How in the name of god would you think that she wouldn't be affected?
How? you have no idea how devastated we are feeling because of what you did!"

She wonders why nobody hears her cry
The footsteps in the hallway have her terrified
Scared as she looks into his staring eyes
He crawls into her bed and she just lays there almost paralyzed
Feeling (powerless)
She feels so (powerless)
She close her eyes and hides under the covers as her father tried to touch her
He took advantage of her took all her innocence from her
She tried to explain to mother but she said she don't believe it
Nobody want to talk about it
Cause this don't happen to good people, this don't happen to good people
At the age of seventeen she finally went to the police
Charged him for the crimes he did and finally took him off the streets
And at the trial, she had to relive it all again
On the stand explaining how this man had took her life but then
Abused for nine years, he got four months and a bit
She got a lifelong sentence, he got a slap on the wrist
It happens all too much but too many keep it hush-hush
How these kids supposed to trust us, man
Don't let them feel powerless

I won't feel powerless...

Thank you to my hero, I hope to meet you someday, can anybody out there hear me
I hope somebody can hear me, cause I don't wanna be here no more
One day, one day, cause I don't wanna be here no more
One day, one day, cause I don't wanna be here no more

Shout out where my birthplace is and to the first nations
And to the people making the best out of the worst cases
Too many unanswered questions and open murder cases
Without a voice how we supposed to encourage changes
My grandmother was part white and part native
In fact my high school was part white and part native
I'm personally connected, I've met people who been affected
They been asking for some help, but they been continually neglected
How many more of these indigenous women have to go missing before somebody will listen, huh
We need to change the conditions
Maybe it's blatant racism
Maybe there's hate in the system
But we got to fix it
Cause the people feel (powerless)
And the mother's feel (powerless)
And the father's feel (powerless)
Like don't anybody care about my daughter
Don't anybody care if she's alive or she was slaughtered
They deserve to know so they can go and bury her with honor
Big up to those fighting on and everybody fighting strong
I wish that I could do more than just write a song
I feel so powerless, I feel so powerless
It's hard to be strong
But don't feel powerless, don't feel powerless
Nah, speak up and keep on

Thank you to my hero, I hope to meet you someday, can anybody out there hear me
I hope somebody can hear me, cause I don't wanna be here no more
One day, one day, cause I don't wanna be here no more
One day, one day, cause I don't wanna be here no more

One day
For some people
All they have is hope
Hopefully one day
To all the things that we don't like talking about
And we know we should be talking about it
This happens a lot more than what we think it does
Don't let them make you feel powerless

I’m very happy this was shown at my school this week for Indigenous Week. I’m glad Classified made this, thank you. This will be one of my favourite songs for quite a long time from now on. ❤️

I’m still shocked that I haven’t been told about what is happening to these people. This year was the first time Evie ever been told/informed about this issue and I’m absolutely disappointed in most of my schools - Thank you again, Classified for making this wonderful and very powerful song about this issue. You probably will not read this, but I thank you. ❤️

There are still so many people that can’t admit the things that have happened to them because of shame and fear and it causes them so much pain throughout their entire lives. Some people never recover. I’m not ashamed to admit I’ve been abused in my childhood, at least 3 times before the age of 10 by multiple abusers, people that were supposed to be taking care of me, I kept the last time a secret for so many years because I was scared. I’ve struggled through addictions my entire life because of this and many other things, and to this day I have so many mental/physical health problems due to being unable to heal properly. I also have been affected by the 60’s scoop, foster care, and mmiw, I remember reading the detectives report of my grandmothers murder, she was stabbed and left to die in a dirty basement, and the man who murdered her walked away a free man saying it was self defence. I still carry so much anger, hate, and pain from these things that i have panic/anxiety attacks almost daily. I just wanted to share a part of myself with people through this song so it might encourage others to not be so hard on themselves or others that are battling life. We are all warriors and we need to keep fighting. Don’t give up.

  20. C.... e....

The world is coming to a stand still.
Its near. Its going to free everyone from the grip we find ourselves caught in. Soon we will be fighting against that very hand which fooled us into believing it was a caring hold..
Not the evil grip that it is.
God bless u all and your familys. Peace comes after.

Every decision you make that is consistent with kingdom values will cause you to advance on the path that I have chosen for you, says the Lord. Your obedience to fulfill your commission is of utmost importance. Do not underestimate your impact on others. What you do and say will either lift up or tear down the people around you. My will is for you to always do good. Psalm 34:14 Depart from evil and do good; seek peace and pursue it. Shalom

We need to protect them by twisting our institutions into ones that reflect the multi faceted collective personhood of all of us. I watch our mayor and our premiere and our prime minister all shielded by this same cloak. The ever present privilege that comes with money and a historical relationship to power, PET to Justin, Tory law firm and family to Tory, and Mike Harris and Doug Ford Senior to Doug Ford ...............steps down each generation as they rise without challenge.

  94. m.... 1....

Such a powerful song with a powerful message , keep up the good work Classified getting the message out there .
