Clash, The - We Are The Clash Lyrics
Punk rockers, hip-hoppers
Brit poppers, show stoppers
Beboppers, hair droppers
Are you ready to sing?
I want something
Easy to say
Bout what do you think
[Chorus:]
We ain't gonna be treated like trash
We got one thing
We are the Clash
What?
We are the Clash
You can strike that match
[Verse:]
With my guitar now
The Cuban's last dance
I see them where they beatin' from
And the injuries stay
Beating on a drum
Did they tell them 'take it in'
Got the nervous sort of feelin'
Where the fat boy blew
[Chorus:]
We ain't gonna be treated like trash
We got one thing
We are the Clash
That's right
We are the Clash
It's like a patch
You can strike that match
[Verse:]
Home fires burnin'
In motorcycle city
The rockin' gods will choose
If I'm worthy to live (rock rock clash city rockers)
The first to next engine
In jail at forty-six
And there's no more between ya..
To imitate respect
[Chorus:]
We ain't gonna be treated like trash
We got one thing
We are the Clash
Don't take no shit
We are the Clash
Do ya hear me?
It's like a patch
You can strike that match

Clash, The We Are The Clash Comments
this albums sucks but this song is where its at!
Joe just wasn't the same songwriter without having Mick to alternately hate and love for inspiration
Shockingly bad album. No Mick no Topper . Not a Clash album ! No wonder Joe Strummer more or less disowned it !
This one's like a bad pistols ripoff, sad.
Sounds like a Pistols castoff.
Todd brought me here
Mondo....fanculo
"This sounds like the theme song to a Clash TV show.
The Clash, weekdays at 4:30 on Fox 10."-Todd in the Shadows, 2019
I see my grandson listening to this album in the 2085, wearing futuristic clothes w/ a futuristic haircut.
They are the clash if mick and topper are there.
Joe Strummer is the lead man he is The clash without Joe what do you got? #WE ARE THE CLASH The Clash died in 2002 so be thankful what they gave us ❗
it could've been a good song if had a decent mix maan
the title is a lie this is not the clash
I did like the Sparks cover much better.
Absolutely nothing wrong with this. I don't understand all the hate
We are half of The Clash, plus a bunch of random football fans.
Plus some 80s cunt in a tracksuit wrecking subpar tunes with his... 'software'.
LOUDER..!!!
Such a great song! I actually love cut the crap! What killed the clash off was Joes Left Wing Fucking Bollocks! In the words of Johnny Ramone. Punk Is Right Wing!
lmao nah
You've got it backwards.
love this song
Fuck. This song couldn't be worst.
One album too many! All them drugs this is what they do
I agree
We were the clash, would have been a better title, this is absolute dross !!!!
good songs in a bad Rhodes sauce
Love the soccer-crowd chorus! And Joe rolling an r there in the beginning, for that split second he sounded like Johnny Rotten, ha.
This is bad.
Scott Zaccagnini nah
Sound like pill ...
I don't care what you lot say... it's still a bloody good album and takes me right back to my teenage years...love it..
Too fucking right!!!
'it's still a bloody good album '
it's not
By their own admission- they weren't the Clash. However this is a great tune. And there are a few others on the album. The great man was incapable of a bad lyric
i love how Westway to the World doesn't even acknowledge this
sure without Toper and Jones still they are the clash with Strummer nad Simonon
I really enjoyed Cut The Crap, It's nowhere near as bad as everybody thinks, the Backing vocals on this song are great.
Jack Irwin totally agee, Sandanista is a shitshow compared to this.
It's one of the worst albums ever made....The backing vocals sound like hooligan football fans wanting to kill....this album has been completely written out of Clash history....I wonder why...not.
Jack Irwin You're right. It's better than the album before it.
Very smart.
Adam Rose
Who Is?????
This album is actually Great! Cut the crap has nothing on there other albums but it's still a good record.
I totally agree, man
I really wish people would stop attacking Cut the crap It's a good album with some decent tunes, Joe Strummer even said this is england was probably one of There strongest singles, The other clash albums are million times better but this is still good.
No it's utter garbage...even Joe said it was
Thomas Andersen
Joe Said this is England was one of his favourite Clash songs.
WE ARE THE CLASH!!!!
thanks joe
Why do people decry this album??
Ayub Naser Because it is shit.
Quite damn right... !!!
Ayub Naser They are narrow minded
Well, half The Clash, anyway. I still think it's a decent album, but it's just not the same.
Erin McGee It’s not a horrible album, but I agree, it’s missing a lot. It doesn’t feel like The Clash.
Stephen Lippincott Needed "Medicine Show", "E=mc2", and "The Bottom Line".
Those fucking backing vocals...
without Mick Jones it's not the clash
Diego Hayes Joe Strummer was The clash!
Well.. without Joe they wouldn even be clash... :D they would be called the vultures, and no one would even bark.. kay, mick was a real man, But they had a lot of differences.. and Im no one to brag about it. Cuz Im hearing Mick there with them in my heart..
OGAnarchy don't forget topper.
Perky Dog Yeah!
This album didn't have to suck. If only it had been better produced, and didn't have that ridiculous drum machine.
Aw come on. The drum machine was the most harmonious member of the band by that point.
Mick was the tuneful one. Joe was the attitude and edge. They always reminded me of Lennon (Strummer) and McCartney (Jones). The Beatles could never be the same with just one, neither the Clash without one. That said, I like this tune.
Perky Dog - so as soon as a band loses a couple of members they’re damned for ever. We’re the Ramones consigned to hell when Dee Dee left and Johnny and Joey were the only surviving original members on Mondo Bizarro. I don’t remember the last couple of Ramones albums being delete from history :-)
Check out 'The Clash - Out Of Control (Demos)' for a version without the drum machine.
@Jack Woods . I might do , but does it have all the football fan type chanting ? If so I won't bother !
discazo
"We are the Clash"? WithOUT Mick Jones? Yeah, right...!
D Pallio still an amazing song
D Pallio don't forget topper dammit!!!
D Pallio its because of Jones that Strummer wrote this song when they was doing a tour in america
And topper
i really like this line up of the band, i've been recolecting bootlegs, rehearsals, gigs... since this summer, and i got alot of them by now.
all the songs of this era sounded GREAT live!
Do you have much live stuff from '85?
MilkerBarba got much stuff of The clash live in 1985 and early 1986??
fuck yeah....dude they dont understand fuck them hey...cheers
raw as ..hot
punk with heart and melody..brillant album
Not the best from The Clash, love the earlier albuns. But I respect all The Clash works
my first cd!
