Clash, The - Clash City Rockers Lyrics
An' I wanna move the town to the clash city rockers
You need a little jump of electrical shockers
You better leave town if you only wanna knock us
Nothing stands the pressure of the clash city rockers
Now listen to the tube train accelerator
Then you realise that you got to have a purpose
Or this place is gonna knock you out sooner or later
So don't complain about your useless employment
Jack it in forever tonight
Or shut your mouth and pretend you enjoy it
Think of all the money you've got
An' I wanna liquefy everybody gone dry
Or burn down the suburbs with the half-closed eyes
You won't succeed unless you try
You owe me a move say the bells of St. Groove
Come on and show me say the bells of Old Bowie
When I am fitter say the bells of Gary Glitter
No one but you and I say the bells of Prince Far-I
No one but you and I say the bells of Prince Far-I
An' I wanna move the town to the clash city rockers
You need a little jump of electrical shockers
You better leave town if you only wanna knock us
Nothing stands the pressure of the clash city rockers
Rock rock Clash city rockers

The perfect song to very angrily make a sandwich to.
Manzana
FUCK YEAH
When I first heard this it was like a bomb had exploded. Real aggressive music was born. the first two albums where outstanding and are my two favourite albums of all time [Never mind the bollocks 3rd] . But then they went downhill and lost the energy and anger and made pop music instead. I am too old to pogo now but I went bonkers in the 70's to this music.
Oh shut your mouth
It's as if it's too good. it's absolute quality.
That outro is SO KILLER!! Just HELLA fuckin' DOPE man!! HELL YEAH!!
Manzana - Los prisioneros
The greatest band to ever strap on guitars and shout a message at the top of their lungs.
The voices sounds like the beatles
When i listen to this I want to destroy everything...masterpiece
Tengo una esposa joven!!
it's smoother than in the game

One of the most punkish songs ever
First time listening since 1978. Yet another of the first wave punk singles I bought and wish I'd kept.

T o n y H a w k P r o v i n g G r o u n d s
this is the sped up and pitched up version, which Bernie Rhodes made behind the clashes back, and released it like this without their knowledge. look up the original it's way better
They wanted to be revolutionaries but they were just drunk, junkie shills.
David Ryan shut up
Man the lyrics hit me hard, haven't listened to this since high school probably

When I fist heard this at 17 years old, it made me want to put on my Dr Martens, go outside and kick something. Now in my mid fifties... when I hear this song, I want to put on my Dr Martens, go outside and kick something.
You sir have rightous words and im in my early 50's

Um, in theory, but it doesn't make much sense! LOL
I want to move the town to the clash city rockers
You need a little jump of electrical shockers
You better leave town if you only want to knock us
Nothing stands the pressure of the clash city rockers
You see the rate they come down the escalator
Now listen to the tube train accelerator
Then you realize that you got to have a purpose
Or this place is gonna knock you out sooner or later
So don't complain about your useless employment
Jack it in forever tonight
Or shut your mouth and pretend you enjoy it
Think of all the money you've got
I want to liquefy everybody gone dry
Or plug into the aerials that poke up in the sky
Or burn down the suburbs with the half-closed eyes
You won't succeed unless you try
You owe me a move say the bells of St. Groove
Come on and show me say the bells of Old Bowie
When I am fitter say the bells of Gary Glitter

Today this album turns 40 years old
The UK version, of which this song did not actually appear, was released in '77, you are right. But the US version, which does feature CCR, didn't come out until '79.

The Clash first album is by far their BEST, and that is saying a lot!

OH SHUT YOUR MOUTH ,SHUT IT UP ,THINK OF ALL THE MONEY YOUVE GOT YEAH YEAH !!!!!
This is the same riff as 'I Can't Explain'' by The Who.
Oh, plz
It is pretty similar
And it's similar to Guns On The Roof by...The Clash!
If anything, it's more like You're Gonna Miss Me by the 13th Floor Elevators.
Pete Townshend said he did`nt mind The Clash `borrowing` the riff as he `borrowed` it from The Kinks !
JACK FRUSCIANTE È USCITO DAL GRUPPO!
No aspe cosa
are there any other punk songs as amazing as this?
reklessheart Nah he's slamming to Joey Mitchell instead.
I d rather put - Buzzcocks-Fast Cars/ X-Ray Spex- World Turned Dayglo/ ANY Pistols- to take a cue from the lady. I let your Germs + DK stand. I let the wheatley core's Antmusic even stand. Me, I throw on -importante':

Subhumans = REASON FOR EXISTENCE or IT'S GONNA GET WORSE
Stooges = 1970 + I GOTTA RIGHT
Clash = WHITE RIOT, CAREER OPPORTUNITIES or This.

Misfits = HYBRID MOMENTS
Generation X = DAY BY DAY

X = WE'RE DESPERATE
Circle Jerks = RED TAPE
TheDamned = NEW ROSE or NEATx3
Crass = DO THEY OWE US A LIVING?
Adicts = ORGANISED CONFUSION+ VIVA LE REVOLUCION
THAT'S a "punk rock' starter kit. In fact, that is 2 circle A starter kits, rite there... Before anyone calls bs on any, go re-acquaint yourself + see if, like or not, it doesn t represent [I do not claim this the only list, just off top of my head. I could make 50-now]. Fuck yeah. Bonus Track: BLOODSTAINS = Agent Orange

The Ruts: "Staring at the Rude Boys"

Great memories of singing this while stopping traffic with loads of others walking in the middle of the road after seeing the clash perform at the Rainbow Theatre in 1977 . OMG was it really 38 years ago
Yep the Rainbow at Finsbury Park ,,, :--D
cool!!!!!
Most of the lyrics are more or less unintelligible, that end bit where they sing 'Rock, rock, the Clash City rockers' sounds like 'Don't talk to Clash City rockers'.

i own the uk version, but some of the songs on the us version are actually better than the ones they replaced from the uk version. this song is fucking amazing!
Al Messi le gusta la Tula igual que al Seba.
Tienes razón.
First punk song I ever heard, age 13, 1987. I'm fond of saying that "when I heard those opening chords, I never played my Huey Lewis tapes again"
Funny thing is this was 10 years before Huey Lewis.
@Sean Watts True enough, but don't forget that Huey had been around a long time already -- since 1971, when he put together his first band, Clover, who ended up backing Elvis Costello on his breakout debut album, My Aim Is True. He also played harmonica on Thin Lizzy's Live & Dangerous (1978), and in 1977 on the second album of The George Hatcher Band, a Southern rock outfit. You can also see him hanging with Nick Lowe and the boys in the Rockpile documentary, Born Fighter. So while he would wait a good five years to become a household name in '82, it's fair to say that Huey's effect was rippling out, if only subliminally. :-) Whatever you think of the guy, he certainly wasn't an overnight sensation.
Look into Youtube to MP3 converters. CHOOSE WISELY.
