Clash, The - 1-2 Crush On You Lyrics

standing in a queue of a school canteen
guys on the corner they were laughin' at me
but i don't mind if they see it all
you know i gotta come clean
i gotta come clean
i got a crush on you

my mind don't need it but my body do
a little bit of loving and attention for you
although we're only strangers
they don't need to know
i gotta cum clean, i gotta cum clean
ooh, i got a crush on you

i wanna get serious right away
1-2, i got a crush on you
what you doin' today or any other day?
1-2, i got a crush on you
just one look and i go insane
1-2, i got a crush on you

your daddy never comes to get you
`cos lives so far away
but his i-talian chauffeur shows up every day
but i'll get you in the corner, i'll get you all
alone
i gotta cum clean, i gotta come clean

i got a crush on you

1-2, i got a crush on you
1-2, i got a crush on you
1-2, i got a crush on you
i said 1-2
i got a crush on you

why should i get a crush on yet?

I know this came out in the 70s, but it has such a 50s vibe to it

  3. i.... ....

I always figured Springsteen's 1980 "Crush on You" was slightly inspired by this.

Bowie ripped off the intro for Let's Dance

  5. T.... ....

This is a fun one to play on the bass.

  6. M.... D....

My second love. The first one that kissed me like the French did. The American honey who blew my socks off. One awesome music track memory for a quiet Suffolk lad. Thanks for sharing.

Mick wrote this in his first band, just before producer Guy Stevens (formerly of Mott the Hoople, ironically Micks hero) kicked him out. Just finished reading the book passion is a fashion, the true story of The Clash.

    Z.... ....

Awesome book. Not an easy read.

  10. g.... s....

    the end bit is joe.

  11. D.... ....

It's Mick Jones, not Strummer (duh) ;)

  13. S.... ....

Actually, we're about to celebrate our 4 year anniversary. Kidding! Completely forgot about this goal...sounds like a good New Year's Resolution to me.

    @CouserSama

The mother of American Punk? You realize this song was written by Mick Jones in his band London SS who was inspired by a little american band known as the New York Dolls? Dont even get me started on the Stooges.

  19. u.... ....

    @emericaskater112

This was a pure Mick Jones song. This song was written in the London SS days.

  20. p.... ....

    @Tilfeldig123
in sweden it came as a usual 7, tommy gun/1-2 crush on you
    i

  21. j.... ....

    Sounds like the 101er´s

    j.... ....

I had the single by the 101ers back in 77.

  22. e.... ....

@DJDaveBullet Strummer wrote the majority of the songs and Jones wrote the music. So they might be his lyrics that Mick is singing, I'm not positive with this song though. Just to put it out there.

  23. s.... ....

First time hearing this track. It is Beatle esque.

  24. m.... ....

This is the Mother of all American PUNK. Lve it but hard to believe it would evolve into bands like 7 Seconds DRI ... On top of that there is something called EMO that is supposed to be punk. Up the Clash!!! Thanks for the trip!!

  25. E.... B....

What rape?are you a mong, its about adolecent crushes and not being able to handle teenage emotions, as if The Clash sang about rape, keep listening to the Beatles

  26. R.... F....

    its mick jones...

  27. G.... ....

this is definitely a B side

  28. c.... ....

    A) He's satirizing a lot of the mainstream love songs of the time, he's not raping anyone, for goodness sake, it's Joe Strummer, he's the man!
    B) It's The Clash! Sit back and enjoy the music!

    c.... ....

    Its Mick Jones

  29. m.... ....

This takes me back, I still have that very single somewhere.

  30. j.... ....

this was the firstt song by the Clash but actually it was Mick Jones in the London SS (which never reli happened) and Joe Strummer had no input this was a 75 or 76 song way before Give em enough Rope

  31. B.... V....

    Awesome Album

  32. H.... C....

  33. i.... ....

Yeah -- unti you listen to Joe at the end!

Mick was the loverboy -- Train in Vain and Every Little Bit Hurts and all...

  34. S.... ....
