Clapton, Eric - Over The Rainbow Lyrics
[Chorus:]
Somewhere over the rainbow, way up high,
There's a land that I heard of once in a lullaby.
Somewhere over the rainbow, skies are blue,
And the dreams that you dare to dream really do come true.
Someday I'll wish upon a star
And wake up where the clouds are far behind me.
Where troubles melt like lemon drops,
Away across the chimney tops, that's where you'll find me.
Somewhere over the rainbow, bluebirds fly.
Birds fly over the rainbow, why then oh why can't I?
[Chorus]
Birds fly over the rainbow, why then oh why can't I?
Birds fly over the rainbow, why then oh why can't I?
If happy little bluebirds fly beyond the rainbow,
Why oh why can't I?
Why can't I?
Why can't I?
Why can't I?

sentimental shmaltz - I totally agree with murph murph
sentimental shmaltz - I totally agree with murph murph
Only EC can get away with this kind of crap
Стильно,...браво.
Only Eric can take a classic like over the rainbow and put it to Jazz/blues...AWESOME AND WELL DONE!! and I liked the keyboard in it too!
2020
The simplicity of Clapton's guitar skills is mesmerizing.
No shredding like Joe Stariani, Steve Vai (Satriani's former student),
Marco Ciaravolo (Satriani's teacher), Eric Johnson, Kenny Wayne Shepherd,
Yngwie Malmsteen, John Petrucci, Robert Fripp, Paul Gilbert, Steve Morse,
Steve Lukather, Uli Jon Roth, Michael Schenker, and Adrian Legg.
BUT Clapton gets the JOB DONE!
That is genius. That is god!
I dont get the connection between before 3:22 and the song after 3:22 ?
Never mind lovey
Hush, hush...god is playing...mortals like us will never understand god..just listen..peace
@Julia Gooding 0oo77
interesting. Clapton has been quoted, " Keep England white. Look it up."
Is there any thing wrong with Japan being Japanese ?

steve gadd
Wonderful arrangement, great musicians. Played with such passion and feeling
Excellent rendition love Clapton!
If you like this song you must, must, must, must listen to the version by Eva Cassidy for perhaps the best vocals ever in a song. https://youtu.be/2rd8VktT8xY
Furthy Thirtyfour personally i like this more
it makes me shudder I had the ame type of cancer as her at the same time yet im still alive god bless her may her music live on
@marvel something You may like this version more, fair enough. But there is no way that Eric Clapton's voice comes even remotely close to that of Eva Cassidy.
Iz does it better than anyone I have ever heard.
@Pam Lyles who is "lz"?
This song can always bring me to tears. Lovely rendition here with gorgeous chords.
Great chords indeed

Trust me you rarely get to see great musicians acknowledged individually... Hahahaha. It's worth all the wait
@Abel Obiri Ayettey It's not worth the wait if you listen to it often. It's a nice reference comment for those that do.
@Sophie 3,000 No!! *this is patrick*
@Chris Raleigh what ?
Eric Clapton, while a world class guitarist, can put more emotion, feeling in his song than ( with the exception of a select few)
Listen to Eva Cassidy sing it. Best version I've ever heard.
i a agirl who brings a rainbow
Loved his rendition. Such a great talent.

This is the type of guy that brings me hope in humanity
Eargasm!

Lo.mejor.d.lo.mejor
Billy Preston ... great musician ... greatly missed ....
What a Beautiful song.
Say no more...
Eric and the Boys put the song together so well..
Anyone who disliked this should have their ears cut off.
Ahahahah....
And if is an elephant?
Yeah agree..their ears must be painted onto
Why then, oh, why can't I?
Wow5, I love this clip! 👍🏼✌️🤙🏼
I don't know, this guy just doesn't do it for me. I try and I try, and I try, but I just do not hear it, see it, or feel it. I realize that he is one of the greats, but I have very little connection with his songs. Believe me, I wish I felt otherwise. My wife loves him, but to this day he is just fodder to me.
Part of the problem is Eric Clayton was a hard rocker and great guitar player who decided to be a crooner as he got older and it just doesn’t suit him. His voice just doesn’t work for songs that need an incredible range.
So sorry for you ... your wife has a positive voice from me... hope you do not argue over it .... but she is the better ... sorry...
Well Way Word ... I understand how you feel ..... before his son Connor died falling from 35 stories to his death .... that almost
killed Eric..... suicide watch he had to have ... he became more human after that .... before that he was arrogant and after his
son's death he became more human .... because he went through a great loss of a son that made him more human...
just sayin... he's an old man now .... his son would be almost 40 now isn't that enough punishment for a father .... for me ..
it would be to much for me ....
@Barbara Duggan Haha, she is always the better. I know and feel for Mr Clapton; he is just not my guy, I guess. I realize that he introduced many different sounds on the guitar, but that would be to me liking, "The Edge" for his play - just do not feel it. Keep in mind that I have been finding my way through many a genre and many individual artists', but the Soul wants what the Soul wants. BTW, don't even like, "Cocaine".
@Jim Assalone Maybe, but his voice is not on debate here, no? I'm OK with his voice; just can't hear his guitar play.
loved it tell 3:36.
Eric sings this so beautifully, & that piano solo (with the thing in his mouth), was so cool.
My dream to watch them live one day ❤❤❤
Peace of Jerusalem.
peace of bashful babydolls
Incredible..wonderful...these tunes will live forever...
Heaven !!
This is great from Eric, as always.
If you haven't seen it already I recommend you to have a listen to Tommy Emmanuel play it for Les Paul https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IoBbt5GrFuM
That was AMAZING! Thank you for the recommendation. Tommy Emmanuel is on a whole other level. Very Cool!
Rainbow over me
Eric Clapton, always giving the spotlight to his friends and fellow musicians. Humble.
A very nice and sweet rendition of this vintage classic... :-)
Sublime. Genios totales.
Världens bästa version 😍😍😍
TEACH TEACH TEACH TEACH ERIC AND TEACH US TO PLAY THE GUITAR AD INFINITUM
Eric with Gibson!
Sounds great . Jack and Ginger always said that Eric was a Jazz musician , not only a Blues player .
I love the Blues , but Jazz is great to .
Eric is magic! 💖💞💕
If the witch heard this version, she'd melt in less than 4 minutes. Classic !
Incredible comment!!! 👍🏻😀👍🏻😂👍🏻🤣
@TheFilibar Thank you for the multiple thumbs up. I've always loved that song. Eric and the boys just replaced my previous favorite Rainbow take which was the Hawaiian IZ solo effort. Also thanks for including Billy Preston, my favorite organist. I still love his single "That's the Way God Planned it." I play it a lot. Now I can tell my grandkids that YouTube "wrote" to me. mq
@Michael Quinn I very rarely reply to the comments (although I read them), but couldn't resist to give you these thumbs up, because very few of the comments are so ingenious and witty like yours. In addition, it is imbued with a sense of humour, which I value soooo much! Your grand kids should be proud of you! God bless you! Cheers! 😊
Thanks TheFilibar for this beautiful music of Eric Clapton. Thausend Thanks. Greetings from Peru.
Thank you, Guillermo, for the nice and warm words! 🙇🏻♂️ But I only did small and humble effort to clip this song and upload it here. The biggest credit and thanks should go to Eric Clapton & Company who made this incredible song interpretation for all of us to enjoy it.
Great line up eh. I remember watching the recording of Concert for Bangladesh and Billy Preston was brilliant in it.
His glasses are upside down !
And what???
Omg I love ❤️
makes me cry...good tears remembering my dad
smooth sweet sexy
My idol is Eric Clapton.
Is dressing sense so important,?.its shallow thinking .come on .we have bigger hearts than that seriously?????
Nice old 50’s Gibson L5ces, to accompany a great song.
BADDD! ASS SONG!
His dressing sense reminds my father. I am living 300 miles away from him now....
1.3k music deaf people watched this video
And don't forget the late great Goddess Judy Garland xxx
Hard to believe he was once a heroin addict
no need to write about it
Just goes to show the power of music and the man. Recovering every single day.
Steve Gadd home town
Clapton and a line-up of the best musicians. He said: "Let's play a jazzy Over The Rainbow at the end", so they simply did it magic and easy like making coffee
2001 mit Sicherheit Claptons bestes line up.......und seine "jazzigste" Gitarre, die er je hatte, diese Gibson
Louie Armstrong still reigns with song
EH? Never heard of Julie Garland?
Look up Eva Cassidy.
My favorite song.
E Clapton & band... plays it very nice. God Bless 'em
Fantastico,
I HAD THE COOLEST DREAM THE OTHER NIGHT... ERIC CLAPTON WAS AT MY PARENTS BBQ, MID 70'S ISH, WE TALKED AS IF WE WERE FRIENDS AND THEN ALL OF A SUDDEN, ALL THE GREATS SHOWED UP, TOOK OVER AND PLAYED, PISSED OFF ALL THE NEIGHBORS OR AT LEAST I WAS WORRIED ABOUT IT. THE MIND IS SO COOL, THANK YOU BRAIN
Leigh Jordan
No need to YELL Leigh !
Ha lol. I had no idea I was in caps. I should of been whispering cuz I was asleep.
never got to see this guy and his backing group claptons so talented fantastic
I was fortunate to see him in Fort Worth Texas in the '90s. The show was incredible.
Saw him in 2010 in Milwaukee when I was a teenager. Sound was amazing, even though I was in the nosebleeds. It's a shame he doesn't tour anymore. Glad I got to see him though!
@TheNewApelles Clapton is a giant sellout. Go see him on his "Ginger Baker" tour. Guy isn't even cold in his grave yet and Death With Glasses is already running for a cash grab. Nice X-Mas album too. Is nothing sacred? Go listen to Junior Kimbrough. I think you will like him. Please give him a chance.
Beautiful Eric ! God Bless you and your family.
How dare you
