Clapton, Eric - Hoochie Coochie Man Lyrics
Gypsy woman told my mother 'fore I was born,
You got a boy-child coming, gonna be a son of a gun.
Gonna make pretty womens jump and shout,
And then the world gonna know what this all about.
But you know I'm here.
Everybody knows I'm here.
Well, I'm the hoochie coochie man.
Everybody knows I'm here.
I got the black cat bone and I got a mojo, too.
I got the John the Conquerer Root, gonna mess with you.
I'm gonna make you girls lead me by my hand,
And then the world will know the hoochie coochie man.
On the seventh hour, on the seventh day,
On the seventh month, seven doctors say,
"He was born for good luck, that you'll see."
I got seven hundred dollars; don't you mess with me!
[Chorus]

Clapton, Eric Hoochie Coochie Man Comments
There are many lyrics sites which use the words 'Johnny Conceroo'. That's incorrect. The real lyrics use the words 'John the conqueror root', which just happens to be part of the hoodoo magic tradition, like the mojo hand.

Real blues fans know.
There is nobody better
Very simply the best ever
Notes. In the solo... well only Eric
Playing up the neck proves the craft
Great song. Here is our version: https://youtu.be/3sGnrCW9h9U
The best version ever. No doubt for me.
PS: everybody talk about Muddy Waters, but forget who write this great song for him: Mr. Willie Dixon, the man who compossed the best classics blues (You shook me, I can't quit you babe, etc.)
The best in history nobody can dispute that
Well it's subjective so technically everybody could object it...
Oh my goodness, imagine Hendrix playing this, would be so f’ing amazing
What a blues rock god I will never get tired of listening to Clapton and his vision of life and expressing himself and the whole human race of brilliant blues music thankyou your a legend

he could include the USA in his passion to help street addicts. Because now, regular people in his newer homevade, USA, STOPPED PRESCRIBING OPIATES to People with peripheral neuropathy..like Eric has. This is a real competitor in an all time low..for government bullying our weakest who generally are the weakest..and can't live normally anymore. Without moderate help from medication ( not part doses..not fisfills shot in veins..by drug abusers..( not vetted pain patients that do not keep increasing amounts like "street addicts" that never stop increasing and abusing illegal mixes of bad additives and unknown strength fentanyl that kills 98% of the overdosed street addicts).Eric can defend regular people in pain that now commit suicide..and not with drugs. Worse than dogs, innocent people use guns to end the tortuous pain..now not allowed the only medicine that actuallyhelps, and is affordable. without deadly side effects. of new fake replacements not designed for complex pain that can cause cancer and kill in several ways that anyone could die from..ok EC. you get treatment. In the USA 100,000 million don't. Street addicts get drugs for life. Not drugs that pain patients need? its a mess. People alone and barely existing..dont have any VOICE ..HEY EC! u could make a public statement. many experts are trying to change this..not yet successful.
Clapton is one of my top guitarist but not so much a good singer
great version 👍👍👍
De a ratitos - intoxicados jajaja
This video should have a billion views. No one better than Clapton!
The fabulous Steve Gadd on drums!!!
TAbs please solo
Eric is fine, sound is normal, but quality of picture...
Yeah have to remember this was the first Crossroads Show that was done in New York City and MSG in 1999 HD did come about until about 5 years later.
I don't have a halo and wings either now getting back to what this - Clapton playin Hoochie Coochie Man, to be honest ive always kinda liked Steppenwolf version of this. which brought me here to say this is real sweet. Rock on Eric!
This song is the story of my life.
low energy
Wait... this sounds like the iPhone ringtone "Piano Riff" lol.

After reading all comments, said to myself,,,,,, Who the hell are they even to think Eric is overrated ???? Strange,,,, none of them has a name i heard before or is a 14 Grammy's winner????? Overcame heroin and alcohol addiction and still be one of the greatest even at 71. So any stupid comments to my view ain't worth to be when Mr. Clapton is concerned. This man is a very generous gentleman of his art, living in connection with the Blues, his fans, and his Stratocaster . When Eric plays,,,,,,,,,, everyone listens,,,,,,,,,,,,,, Always.............There has to be a reason why?????? Yeah! Evereyone listens cause ??????? Eric s playin !!!!!! Simple enough????
One of the best comments ever....Love for EC
its been a lot of talking but he keeps talking :D respect to Mr. Eric Clapton.. great rendition to Muddy Waters

my first concert "slowhand" in Charlotte nc i was 13 i still remember 37 now still love this master of the black mans blues the true blues im a white boy i feel every chord he picks.
I neva thought that this guy gonna rock with Eric clapton or should i say Eric Luck SOB
This sounds too slick and professional for the blues. There's no grit or soul at all in this. The blues is blue collar, working class music. This is just a bunch of super-musicians showing off.
+RootsRockRebel I don't follow. So Clapton doesn't understand sadness because you're a racist? Or are you saying that Buddy Guy, BB King, Robert Johnson, Muddy Waters, John Lee Hooker and other famous blues musicians were inadequate because they weren't former slaves?
Ask BB King what he thinks of Eric Clapton!
that's quite hard because he's been dead for two years
im a idiot look it up then! It's in the record. Death is never an excuse!!!😉
The "Blues" (music) knows no color. No body owns it. It is what it is. And your comments are racist to the max.

CLAPTON IS GOD~!
VolturusPanic Until Jimi killed God. ;)
I don't get it...I guess "tone" is a subjective thing, but this guitar sounds as weak as his voice. The solo - I've heard better in local clubs. Give me an old Cream album - but this "Clapton is god" BS every time he puts a pick in his hand is pure sentiment, in my opinion. Completely over rated.
+Automatic Slim I Totally agree. He is technically good but without soul. Give me "Hoochie" by Steppenwolf, they are surely bright. But let's listen to original Muddy Waters' one, with Willie Dixon at the bass: it's pure soul. Obviously this is only my opinion. Clapton's fans are oversensitive about their idol and I don't want to offend them. Once I took me to badly words with one of them about a comparison between Clapton and Peter Green
+Mario Fiorentini Yes, indeed! My first vinyl record was Steppenwolf's silver album - I listened to Born to be Wild a couple times but absolutely wore out HCM - my opinion, their best cut of all time. Ended up here searching for something that might compare, but not even close. Let 'em be offended - it's an opinion - nothing more.
Still, Clapton's considered quite technical in 60s' standard. And it's quite ironic that while you mentioned tone being subjective, the "feeling" which you are arguing about is quite subjective as well. Also Muddy Waters' isn't "original". He didn't write the song.

I always knew that line as "Got a John The Conqueror root". It's for a mojo bag.
Cool song... Muddy Waters, Clapton, Buddy Guy all do excellent versions of this song 👍
So perfect....
This must be from the initial Crossroads concert in 1999.
No Jim, "Live at Madison Square Garden", a great video and he has Sheryl Crow come on and she is terrific too. Search "Wonderful Tonight" from the same concert, it will make the hair on the back of your neck stand up (Katie Kissoon) and Layla...awesome performances.
Excellent....wow!

Uh Eric Clapton and buddy guy....a ill misleading don't you think?
@Jeff Gomilla The song is actually by Muddy Waters not Buddy Guy or did you mean something else?
I said Eric Clapton and Buddy Guy a little misleading don't you think I didn't say anything about who wrote the song and yes I know it's done by actually Willie Dixon not muddy waters
I thought it was good, he is no Willy Dickson but not bad btw Willy wrote that... and hoochie coochie man!!

totalcontrast was it not in 1976 when he had the big rant
Joshua Schwartfigure oh Stevie is a black man in a white man body, not trying to offend anybody. That man just oozed black man blues and that’s coming from a black man myself
@totalcontrast He was into mind altering stuff back then he has since cleaned up and begged forgiveness.
Great solo and band!
Tanananana
This Blue is Fucking LEGENDARY
Strange solo. Some parts are really Buddy Guy sounds...
Yes, it's Nathan East from Fourplay. Nathan together with Andy Fairweatherlow are common musicians in his tours.
if you want muddy waters click on video 22 on the right to hear it live. eric nailed this song pretty good like he does pretty much any song.
Yeah nice eric i love your musica
With Muddy Water's original, you could just feel a warm gust of wind rushing over you when you listened to it.. This version doesn't really do that -as much-, but it still has style.
è il migliore!!
Great performance, not quite Muddy Waters though.
Music PRO !
XDDDDD
fuck yeah bro, he is

Fuck off Frenchie... go listen to some accordion music.
