Clapton, Eric - From Four Until Late Lyrics

From four until late I was wringing my hands and crying
From four until late I was wringing my hands and crying
I believe to my soul that your daddy's Gulfport bound

From four until late, she made me a no good barroom clown
From four until late, she made me a no good barroom clown
You know she won't do nothing but tear a good man's reputation down

A woman is like a dresser, some man always running through its drawers
A woman is like a dresser, some man always running through its drawers
She cause so many men to wear an apron overall

When I leave this town I will bid you fare farewell
When I leave this town I will bid you fare farewell
And when I return again, you'll have a great long story to tell

From four till late, I was wringin' my hands and cryin'
From four till late, I was wringin' my hands and cryin'
I believe to my soul, that your daddy's Gulfport-bound
From Memphis to Norfolk, is a thirty-six hours ride
From Memphis to Norfolk, is a thirty-six hours ride
A man is like a prisoner and he's never satisfied
A woman is like a dresser, some man always ramblin' through its drawers
A woman is like a dresser, some man always ramblin' through its drawers
It cause so many men, wear an apron overall
From four till late, she get with a no-good bunch and clown
From four till late, she get with a no-good bunch and clown
Now, she won't do nothin', but tear a good man' reputation down
When I leave this town, I'm gon' bid you fare, farewell

nice!! i actually own a guitar that was loaned out to Doyle for six months by builder J. Caldwell, Spicewood Texas (who supplied me a pic of Doyle playing the guitar), 00-42 style 12-fret dark shaded all Koa wood with an invory bridge, probably the most gorgeous guitar i have, with some superb vibe🎶
i found out this tid bit of information from the builder after the purchase was complete. 🎸😎
a guitarist will notice that Doyle can play a right handed guitar upside down with the base strings at the top as he plays left handed 😉

This recording session was in Dallas, TX at 508 Park Avenue, which is a location that Robert Johnson recorded some of his songs!!

    R.... C....

No. Robert Johnson recorded his only recordings in San Antonio, Texas,

    R.... C....

This is at 508 Park Avenue, and Johnson did indeed do some recording there in 1937.

    R.... C....

Raymond Carver yea I saw an interview in Dallas when Clapton was here where he told the story of RJ recording at this building and the reason for his sessions here.

    R.... C....

Raymond Carver And the same building and room as I understand it. Nice gesture by Eric having Doyle Jr there as his Dad was from Dallas.

Wasn't this taken from a documentary?

@Andrew Power  Thank you, for the information.  I appreciate it.

Una grande sessione in onore di Robert Johnson

Any insight on what Doyle's playing would be helpful.  Fingering suggests an open tuning.  Possibly open A capo'd at the 3rd fret for Open C?

    N.... B....

@Robert Newman Hey Robert. I've got Eric's part down nicely, but it's Doyle's that's a bit beyond me.

    N.... B....

@Gibson Blues Did you try open tuning to C with capo on 3rd fret? Doyle is playing a resonator/Dobro guitar, or slack key.

    N.... B....

@Robert Newman Not yet. I'll have to give it a try.

    N.... B....

hes just got a capo on third fret and playing it as blues in A Johnson style..try it

    N.... B....

raindogred is right. Just playing rj capoed at 3 in key of A. I was making it way to complicated, but in my defense Doyle’s playing doesn’t visually help
