City High - What Would You Do Lyrics
Boys and girls, wanna hear a true story?
Saturday night was at this real wild party
They had the liquor overflowin' the cup,
About 5-6 strippers trying to work for a buck
Her name was Lonnie, she went to Junior High with me,
I said, "Why you up in there dancing for cash?
I guess a whole lot's changed since I seen you last."
She said,
"What would you do if your son was at home
Crying all alone
On the bedroom floor,
'Cause he's hungry
And the only way to feed him is
And his daddy's gone somewhere smokin' rock now,
In and out of lockdown,
I ain't got a job now,
So for you this is just a good time
But for me this is what I call life."
Girl, you ain't the only one with a baby,
That's no excuse to be living all crazy
Then she looked me right square in the eye
And said, "Everyday I wake up hopin' to die."
She said, "Nigga, I know about pain
'Cause me and my sister ran away,
So my daddy couldn't rape us
Before I was a teenager
I done been through more shit
You can't even relate to!"
What would you do if your son was at home
Crying all alone
On the bedroom floor,
'Cause he's hungry
And the only way to feed him is
To sleep with a man for a little bit of money?
And his daddy's gone somewhere smokin' rock now,
In and out of lockdown,
I ain't got a job now,
So for you this is just a good time
But for me this is what I call life
Yo wait
Hold up, hold up, hold up, hold up
Stop the record yo
Stop the record
Yo shorty you ain't gotta be going out like this man
Hold up
What would you do?
Get up on my feet and let go of every excuse
What would you do?
'Cause I wouldn't want my baby to go through what I went through
C'mon, what would you do?
Get up on my feet and stop making tired excuses
What would you do?
Girl, I know if my mother can do it, baby, you can do it
What would you do if your son was at home
Crying all alone
On the bedroom floor,
'Cause he's hungry
And the only way to feed him is
To sleep with a man for a little bit of money?
And his daddy's gone somewhere smokin' rock now,
In and out of lockdown,
I ain't got a job now,
So for you this is just a good time
But for me this is what I call life
What would you do if your son was at home,
Crying all alone on the bedroom floor
'Cause he's hungry
And the only way to feed him is
To sleep with a man for a little bit of money?
And his daddy's gone somewhere smoking rock now,
In and out of lockdown,
I ain't got a job now,
So for you this is just a good time
But for me this is what I call life,
Come on
What would you do if your son was at home
Crying all alone
On the bedroom floor,
'Cause he's hungry
And the only way to feed him is
To sleep with a man for a little bit of money?
And his daddy's gone somewhere smokin' rock now,
In and out of lockdown,
I ain't got a job now,
So for you this is just a good time
But for me this is what I call life

Having sex to feed a child . .I'm sure there are many other options. That's just a lifestyle she likes and prefers. I will never respect any woman that does that.

Claudette is so beautiful.
How come they didnt have longer careers? They just released one album and called it quits
Because both of the dudes dated the girl in the group and it caused a lot of drama

I used to judge women like that. But now I am a single mom and I totally get the temptation to be a stripper or some other type of sex worker. You can make lots of money sometimes and decide your own hours so you have time with your child. But the cons out way the pros. Also you can get a good job with all the pros and none of the cons. But I don’t judge them. Not everyone is cut out for that life and not everyone is cut out for the normal 9 to 5. I wish people would stop slut shaming. IF THERE WASN’T A DEMAND FOR IT THERE WOULDN’T BE A SUPPLIER FOR IT. Instead of judging the women maybe we need to judge their audience. Just saying.
Listening to Van Lathan's The Red Pill Podcast interview with Ryan Toby brought me here - December 2019
NoProGoPronto: Same here! But I still think this song is corny just like back when it came out though...
Anyone else here in December 2019?
What would I do if my son was at home crying all alone on the bedroom floor cuz he’s hungry???? GET A DAMN JOB
Missing my best friend brought me here. She loved this song.
They just don’t make music like this anymore, dAmn early 2000s were a time
loved this song for the longest time and didn’t realize robby had his own intervention episode for being an alcoholic
