I'm a seminary student and there are several good, solid, Biblical arguments regarding passages which speak about being "in Christ." Personally I believe that if you claim to be "in Christ" and continue in sin, maybe you weren't "saved" in the first place, that's why scripture tells us to "examine our hearts to see if we're in the faith!" This song, though, I think, is meant to encourage believer's that "in Christ" NOTHING can separate us, no matter HOW we feel!  :)  Bless you!

@Charlene R Nothing can separate the saved from God. Salvation is a *gift*, it isn't earned and thus it can't be lost.  If you believe the saved can be separated from God then you are also claiming that salvation is something you earn (and thus merit/deserve).  A distinction between getting and keeping is immaterial.  It is either grace or it is not.

There is *nothing* we can ever do to merit salvation.  It is grace because it is an utterly undeserved gift.

Jesus never taught that he takes away what he has given:

_All that the Father gives me will come to me, and whoever comes to me I will never cast out._

_I write these things to you who believe in the name of the Son of God that you may know that you have eternal life._

_For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord._

The reality is not everyone who claims to be saved IS saved.  Only the individual sinner and God can know the truthfulness of that claim.  A reduction in sin (and nobody is sinless) and an increase in good works is the fruit of being saved but neither one secures or keeps one saved.

*How can you lose something which you neither earned nor ever possibly could?*

To those who wish to learn more, the theological concept is called "_unconditional security_".  There is no major Christian denomination which teaches "conditional security", there is no biblical support for it and there is no evidence that the early fathers of the church believed in such "takebacks" by the one true and living God.

God made a covenant with man.  Man's part in the covenant will be judged upon on Judgment day. God shows no favoritism read Acts 10:34.  If the covenant was one sided resting upon God ALONE then that would make him a respecter of person which his word says he is NOT (Deuteronomy 10:17; 2 Chronicles 19:7; Acts 10:34; Romans 2:11; Galatians 2:6; Ephesians 6:9; Colossians 3:25; James 2:1; 1 Peter 1:17).  Your understanding of Grace is not the Grace of God's word.  For Grace teaches us to deny ungodliness and worldly lusts, we should live soberly, righteously, and godly, in this present world (Titus 2:12).  Those who belong to God will Love & Obey God. Our Heavenly Father will test your LOVE to see IF you believe as you say. We are not entitled to anything until we have endure the end carrying our cross through the trails of life here on Earth...

Sins can separate you from God (Isaiah 59:2; John 9:31). That verse used in the video is not saying that those things can't separate you, but that they shouldn't separate you from God or allow those things to separate you from God.
