Nice song melevolent bass rhythm at the beginning very nice and the strings are nice also brilliantly put together song wish I had the album or an app where I can listen to albums or the like

I was traveling through Europe in 2003... I bought this album on a fluke. Sitting on a beach one night in Spain, I listened to the entire album and came to the conclusion that it's probably one of the best albums I've ever heard in my life...

I think Steve's lyrics show he was / reads Montaigne.. who said something like "When death comes you should always have your shoes on" (metaphorically). For Kilbey it's "when the moment came..… standing backstage trying to put on your shoes". 

but what if one of them is left alive?..

This gem of a song reminds me of two gunslingers in the night...a winner and a loser.

....back in college (GWU, Wash.DC), was tasked with photo-ing two bands playing on campus that night...Echo and the Bunnymen and The Church..that was 19-early-eighty-something....they were amazing then and they still are. I am so thankful for their music, it has meant so much through the years...THX

Just wanted to say that I've been a fan of The Church since the mid 80s. And I must say their stretch of original CDs from 1998 to 2009 represents the strongest works in their long and storied discography: Hologram of Baal, After Everything Now This, Forget Yourself, Uninvited Like The Clouds and Untitled #23.

I couldn't have said better myself. Exactly the same feelings and opinions here.

@kathyt0627 im a lifelong fan of the church. This Cd came out right as my grandmother was dying of cancer. This song, the second I heard it....means so much and says so much. To me, about the change of seasons in our lives, how easy it is to take so much for granted. Growing older, and expecting every thing to stay the same. My grandmas' life, entwined with mine....you never are ready for the changes to come, the seasons to past. I still cant listen to this without crying its so beautiful.

I have over 200 songs on my iPod by The Church and this is one of the greats. I have been a big fan since Star Fish back in '88

They played it on their the tour before the anniversary tour and it was luminous.

Hear hear. the whole record hangs together as something really special except the last track, perhaps the first.. . This cd isone for the connessuirs. Isn't this one of the most emotional songs ever.. when yu really listen to it?
All their albums got really strong stuff, but the best ones really hang together as an artistic unity, say blurred crusade, heyday and after everything... to start with.....
