I didn't really believe Ch. Aguilera can deliver that song, but she did.

I know this is irrelevant, but it came to me now. Christina is mixed race. A lot of people don't remember that. People think that mixed race is just black and white, but quite the opposite. Her father is Hispanic, her mother Irish-American. I just love the fact that someone from that kind of background comes out of the prejudice to prove that EVERYONE can make it. Amazing performance. Out of this world vocals.

The end kind of ruined it for me. It was so understated but then she just had to overdo it by belting at the end. It just didn't flow nicely with the performance's vibe for me. Other than that, it was beautiful--her lower register is so rich and smooth.

Giving a poweful performance but not over singing. Besides, she looks beautiful! Sometimes she looks like a drag queen. Seriously! Remains one of my favorite recordings of Aguilera. It's a very restrained (for her) performance that is made beautiful because of it. I can't tell if she is consciously trying to channel Billy Holiday, Nina Simone, or any of the number of other artist who made great renditions of this song, but the result is quite beautiful.

She's an old soul, she has always had these great idols like Billie and Nina for sure, hope she goes back 2 basics again with her new album.
