Chris LeDoux - Song Of Wyoming Lyrics

I'm weary and tired I've done my day's ridin' nighttime is rolling my way
The sky's all on fire and the light's slowly fadin' peaceful and still ends the day
Out on the trail night birds are callin' singin' their wild melody
Down in the canyon cottonwood whispers a Song of Wyoming for me

I've wandered around the town and the city tried to figure the how and the why
I've stopped all my schemin' I'm just driftin' and dreamin'
Watching the river roll by
And here comes that big ole prairie moon risin' shinin' down bright as can be
And up on the hill there's a coyote singin' a Song of Wyoming for me

Well now it's whiskey and tobacco and bitter black coffee a lonesome old doggie am I
Waking up on the range Lord I feel like an angel free like I almost could fly
Drift like a cloud out over the badlands sing like a bird in the tree
The wind through the sage sounds like heaven singin' a Song of Wyoming for me
A Song of Wyoming for me

love it - so mellow a voice yet that hint of the rugged West

  19. D.... K....

Dad was born in Rexburg but moved to Teton County before it was named that county and spent most of his life there. We left in '69 and I've been dreaming of Jackson since then but only movie stars and millionair's can live there now. God I miss it but will be sprinkled on Sheep Mountain when I go... This song was played at his funeral. Anytime I need him I think of it and the Pass and the Gros Ventre.

Chris Ledoux was not born in the west. He was actually born in Biloxi, Mississippi while his dad was stationed at Keesler AFB.

Looking back, the reason why I always respected Chris LeDoux, was that he Had a woman that loved him enough to have five kids
by him, he was a rodeo man, and that he lived on a ranch in Wyoming. These facts just added credibility to his songs that he sang.....his talent was growing, and he was shot down in his prime...what a loss. R I P, Mr. LeDoux

    W.... F....

Wendell Freeman , I was blessed to have grown up in Wyoming and yes even went to the same High School in Cheyenne as Chris....

  41. T.... L....

Thank you so much for adding me! I am from Oklahoma but have spent a lot of time in Kaycee. I have hunted a lot of ranches, not the big money outfitter, but on my own where you meet the rancher, shake his hand, look him in the eye, and treat his property like it was your own. Know all about the log schoolhouse out where the eagles fly. One night Chris was in town at the Invasion and was treated to a few songs while I had supper. A treat I will always remember.

  42. C.... T....

Born in New Mexico, spent my Summers in Douglas, moved to Cheyenne first chance I got. When I die, you can bury me beneath these western skies.
