Chris De Burgh - The Long And Winding Road Lyrics

The long and winding road that leads to your door,
Will never disappear,
I've seen that road before; It always leads me here,
Lead me to your door;

The wild and windy night that the rain washed away,
Has left a pool of tears crying for the day,
Why leave me standing here, let me know the way;

Many times I've been alone and many times I've cried,
Anyway you'll never know the many ways I've tried,
But still they lead me back to the long winding road,
You left me standing here a long, long time ago,
Don't leave me waiting here, lead me to your door;

But still they lead me back to the long winding road,
You left me standing here a long, long time ago,
Don't keep me waiting here, lead me to your door,
Yeah yeah yeah yeah.

    Why is this cover so nice to listen to? Because he just does the lyrics and the melody. Does not try to push the song in a new „modern“ corset...which many do

  49. L.... S....

    @VN223 you`re right... and the rest of the world that believes the beatles were the greatest band of all times is wrong... I really would like to hear your musical work that inspired the greatest bands of the world.

    I tough so....
    On the other hand, great cover from Chris

  50. V.... V....

    ora vamos la. esta versão ficou uma maravilha. em termos. de riquezas de arranjos.gostei muito.na versão do paul .e um clássico dos beatles.não da para comparar e original.

  51. T.... W....

    A beautiful rendition. You can't sing this song unless you feel it. You can, I guess, but no one else will.

  52. b.... ....

    Thank you for sharing Chris' interpretation of this much loved song. I have identified with this song since I was an abandoned child in the 70's.
    Love to you,
    Wishing you Love, Peace & Joy,
    Bridgette, xoxooxo

  53. V.... N....

    sometimes I wonder what all the fuss was about..the Beatles were really not brilliant, good -yes, Brilliant No.

    Having being a Beatle fan in the late 60's and 70's , I find most of the covers are far better than the originals.

    And its not about technology since no one sings Elvis better than Elvis. It's about being brilliant and the Beatles were not

  54. D.... R....

    excellent vocal

  55. N.... N....

    This version is the most I like, so goooooooddddddddd

  56. J.... W....

    @doncolaf1 Paul is older than Chris. Period.

  57. J.... W....

    Wow ....amazing! ...Loved it!

  58. F.... G....

    GREAT!!!!!!

  59. S.... E....

    @doncolaf1 No disrespect to Sir Paul, but I have to agree ... my only criticism is that with such a gorgeous smooth voice, I do wish he'd hold the notes longer instead of singing so choppy.

  60. a.... ....

    Chris is a great interpreter of songs, and always had a very strong live voice when i saw him in concert in the 90's. George Michael does a better version than all of them. he is very good at cover songs (see you tube)

  61. f.... ....

    @rambo2012 Is this the REAL Rambo?!?!?

  62. r.... ....

    @f1cola Karaoke!

  63. f.... ....

    @ziggy95 I have to disagree about Cdeb only ever singing in a specific range. If you check out his older material, such as The Ferryman and high on Emotion, you'll notice that he use to hit much higher notes. Like all singers, CDEB's voice has also changed over time. It sounds lower to me, deeper. I've heard him live a couple of times and his voice comes across as very strong. Although I will admit he has to go into falsetto for very high notes. But still, it has aged better than Paul's.

  64. f.... ....

    @rambo2012 I have a glass of wine every now and then, but I think I was pretty lucid when I made that remark. I'm just telling it how it is. Find any recent video with Paul singing live. You simply can't compare the two. Paul's voice is shot!! Yes, Chris is a vibrato as has been explained below and I can understand the original beatles version being better, but as far as their present voices are concerned, Cdeb's in simply better.

  65. r.... ....

    @doncolaf1 ARe You Drunk?

  66. c.... ....

    @truthwar333 Yes ...but you are missing the point. Who wrote this amazing piece of meloncholy? PAUL !!!!!!!! Not Chris ! Lets jump to Bob Dylan , he sings like shit but he sings the songs he writes beautifully, it takes so much more than being a good singer, good singers are in every second Bar , but great composers that sing their own incredible compositions.

  67. c.... ....

    @truthwar333 aha VIBRATO _Ok have you heard of Fergal Sharkey? he is another irish singer who uses so much Vibrato when he sings its Horrible, I assume you know what Vibrato is? as a singer you try not to use it cause its horrible and subrtacts from holding a Clean nice intonated note( No Vibration) Chris has had a few great songs but he sings this with Vibrato.its just wrong!

  68. c.... ....

    @bufsoftley Well Pavarotti ..try and sing "OH Darling : in the original key ! then tell me about how bad the beatles are!

  69. c.... ....

    People make me laugh , you make comments about the better voice and also criticise Paul macs Voice ..You obviuosly have never Sung for a living ..Most pro singers loose the top end of their Chest register( as High as you can sing without breaking into Choirboy Falsetto) as they age .Pauls Hi chest and chest voice are great , he is fucking 60 Odd! ..Chris de Burgh sings it in a nice club cabaret style, his vibrato is a bit scarey, his version not have the angst and whimsy of Pauls .

  70. z.... ....

    @doncolaf1 Pauls middle voice has definately lost it's way, however his top range is as good, if not better than ever. Thing is CDB has only ever sung in a certain range so he's nothing to lose. That said it's a decent enough cover.

  71. M.... ....

    The best is Chris de Burgh This is the best Lied. .)

  72. M.... S....

    What an amazing cover!

    Moved me to tears.

    What a great song by sir Paul McCartney.

  73. A.... ....

    Un excelente interprete, una voz increible.....Me emociona escucharlo....sobre todo recordar....Gracias, cariños.....

  74. U.... G....

    Sehr schön!

  75. p.... ....
