Chris De Burgh - Big City Sundays Lyrics
Birds on the wing, we are the lost generation
We have to go breaking the hearts of a nation
Oh but I'm fine, this city's ok
This is my time, I'm finding my way
But there's one thing
Here on a Sunday, it's always the same
The streets are deserted, just me and the rain
On big city Sundays, it's when I'm alone
I'm holding back the tears, dreaming of home
Birds on the wind, sailing the highways of freedom
Birds have to sing, needing a dream to believe in
That's losing it's way, like a ship adrift on the ocean
Here on a Sunday, it's always the same
The streets are deserted, just me and the rain
On big city Sundays, it's when I'm alone
I'm holding back the tears, dreaming of home
Home, where my heart is
Home, the sea and the sky and that feeling inside
Just to be with my friends
How I long for that feeling again
Here on a Sunday, it's bringing me down
The streets are deserted, there's no one around
On big city Sundays, it's when I'm alone
I'm holding back the tears, dreaming of home
On big city Sundays, it's when I'm alone
I'm holding back the tears, dreaming of home
Dreaming of home

Very Good
One of the best
Amazing song
I started listening to Chris when i was young, now im grown up and still love his music..
1 word only: AMAZING!!!!!
Chris , It is a great song .
Chris de Burgh, you have inspired me in so many ways, im not a musician, simply a working man with a small family that has been exposed to your music since I was very very young, I am now 39. One of my all time desires in life is to meet you, hopefully one day. All the very best to you, keep going strong and keep making great music.
....goodnight
The album is a return to earlier form for Chris De Burgh. It's pace is consistent and never lacking with beautiful lyrics, melodies and instrumentation.
This is a great track from Chris De Burgh. His new album has been a long time in coming. I have been a fan since the eighties and have all of his studio albums, many compilations and a large number of singles. For the last few albums Chris has put music to a book and visited songs from his past. I enjoyed them all, but longed for some new songs to match the ones from his previous albums that I cherish so much. "The Hands of Man" seems to be very much a reflection on a life from a man who has had a full and busy life, experienced a changing world with the twists and turns that each of us could in some way relate to. The album is great, but as on any album there are stand out tracks. For me "Where would I be ", "Through These Eyes" and especially "Empty Rooms" all move me to tears. I know that others who are fans will know exactly what I am talking about, will know why lyrically as well as musically we keep listening to the work of a fantastic artist. I am so happy to have been able to enjoy the music and the poetry for all of my adult life.
Few artists can capture such emotion in songs as Chris de Burgh. Outstanding track off of his 2014 release.
Great song Chris, In my beloved Liverpool too. Thank you very much for sharing.
