Essentially there are eras of COB sound...first 3 albums are the neoclassic death metal that kept Bodom pretty niche; Hate Crew and Are You Dead Yet are the wider metal audience winners with the sound that, I would say, overall defines Bodom nowadays. Bloodrunk and RRF were the ‘lost their way a bit’ era (even though I spinned the latter a lot and quite liked it); Halo and I Worship were the experimental era (slower melodic tunes, some true death metal) gave me a feeling of that they were genuinely trying to make great music again. I’m really waiting to see if Hexed starts a new era or can just be lumped in with the feel of the last two. My initial feeling is that this is something special. New guitarist seems to bring new complexity and energy to the sound...
