Chicago - You're Not Alone Lyrics

I see you there, a silhouette in the moonlight;
Looks like you've given up on love.
You used to be the face in the spotlight;
Now loneliness fits you like a glove.
You walk around in your cloak of darkness,
Too blind to see the light.
Your wings are broken, now your spirit can't take flight.

You're not alone, you're not alone,
While your heart's still young and free.
You're not alone, pick up the phone
And talk to me; baby, you will see
You're not alone.

Pools of sorrow and tears of joy;
There's a broken-up girl for every broken-down boy.
But you don't wanna hear it,
You like the rhythm of the blues;
Wanna be a sad story on the late-night news.
I don't mean to burst your bubble,
But the world's got troubles worse than you.
And everybody else out here gets lonely too.

You're not alone, you're not alone,
I've been waiting patiently.
No, you're not alone, pick up the phone
And talk to me, baby, you will see...

Although your heart is in pieces,
You can't find a reason to try.
You're not alone, while I'm still standing by.

You're not alone, you're not alone,
While your heart's still young and free.
You're not alone, pick up the phone
And talk to me; baby, you will see
You're not alone.

    Chicago - You're Not Alone. 1988 St. Joe’s School and a new mountain bike. This is when the song became popular in my life. Great song. Years later hearing and tuning into the lyrics “There’s a broken up girl for every broken down boy". This video is fun to watch – more ways than one “) That lead guitar through the whole song is sweet. Im a sucker for harmonies in songs – these guys know what they’re doing. Always loved how Chicago had 17 people in their band and all those guitars…. aweSomeneSS. Published on Jammin Jesse Jams Blog https://www.reverbnation.com/page_object/page_object_blogs/artist_6321724

    I like this song a lot but the video is useless. They could have made a good storyline out of this song, but it's just a hot chick prancing around in various states of undress. Compare this to Peter Cetera songs like Glory of Love or The Next Time I Fall which have classier videos.

    I had Chicago 19 back when it came out but I had to run out and buy the cassette single just to get this remex when the video came out.

    i dont see peter cetera there in this video

    Because he had left the band years earlier.

  28. L.... A....

    Funny to see Walt with a guitar. Can he really play? He's on woodwinds. And how many keyboards do you need? That's overkill. But I love the song. I remember when it was climbing the charts in March of 1989. They would only get 1 more top 10 hit with What kind of man would I be? in 1990 and 2 more top 40 hits with Hearts in Trouble and Chasin' the Wind in 1991. So much talent in the band, but the music landscape was changing to more youth oriented rap, hip hop and alternative rock. Chicago made some miscues in the 90s and went into the adult contemporary category department.

  29. B.... A....

    No.10 pop hit in March 1989. They stexpedite out of their comfort zone into pop-rock territory.

    1990 so sad

  67. C.... G....

    Exelente rola y qué más digo exelente banda

  68. m.... ....

    Pleasant enough radio hit that was near the end of their run on the singles charts, but wow, this is about as far removed from their original sound as you can get. The images of the famous Chicago horn section miming guitar and synth parts that I doubt they even know how to play is pretty painful to watch.

  69. P.... M....

    Just awesome, great vocal and guitar!

  70. A.... V....

    I totally had a squee moment when Jason Scheff flips his hair back.

    Uplifting song. "There's a broken-up girl for every broken down boy"..."Everybody else out here gets lonely too"...

  84. T.... H....

    When I say them at the Universal Amphitheatre in L.A in Feb 1989, Bill Champlin was wearing that same outfit! What a band! The Chicago of the 1986 to 1993-era was epic. Just an amazing time for them. They never sounded better. This song and video really represents that run. Chicago everywhere. Radio. TV. Magazines. The Universal gig that Mid-Winter night in warm L.A. was a lifelong memory. Big time. It was great!

    Another song with Walt doing air guitar lol. Danny wrote in his book (Street Player) that Lamm and the 3 horns called a meeting before this album was released upset of the lack of horns. Danny agreed but said the songs they had were big hits and $$$$ makers. Danny did push for a lot of those tunes which IMO is why they cut him loose. They got tired of him keeping them in the ballad prison. I do really wonder how much more they could have done with horns in the time period where horns weren't used in music much. Danny also said the ballads were plan B as the radio stations told them no way were they playing horns which were "out of style". They had no choice but to make money or find another means of living. Radio and the record companies were not giving them support doing what the band wanted to do, sadly. This was their best 80's tune and one of their best all time, despite no horns in this.

    D.... C....

    I think when Danny was gone was their downfall He's a big part of their sound
    and an original member he didn't like technology he was an old school jazz drummer
    They never really had any hits after 1990

    D.... C....

    @Travis Collins I never realized that, after he left in early 1990, they did stop making hit songs. I don't think that's a coincidence. Danny did help keep the band going during their dark days in the late 70s. He composed Take me back to Chicago, Birthday Boy, Street Player.

  95. J.... L....

    Much better than most of the 80s Chicago schlock...although they became a vehicle for Foster, Dianne Warren, etc. Champlin delivers an emotional vocal performance. Shame the horns are MIA. Check out XXXVI as a pretty good comeback album.

    J.... L....

    Both 19 and 21 (Ron Nevison Mix) are great AOR albums. I really liked production on 19.
