Chicago - What Does It Take Lyrics

All I do is think about you
I never did let go of what we were
Can't pretend I'll live without you
As I learn to live alone
Can't pretend I'll live without you
As I learn to live alone
Why can't I be a man about it
I've tried and tried to hide you from my heart
If I could just forget about us
If I knew just where to start
You're still my destiny

[CHORUS]
What does it take
To win you back
To hold these arms once more
What can I say
To make you understand
You're still all I'm waiting for
At times I feel it's best without you
And times I still believe in you so much
After what I've been through without you
You'd think that I'd move on
But you're still my destiny

[CHORUS]

What does it take
'Cause we can't go back
Can't be like it was before
What does it take
To win you back
To hold in these arms
What does it take
What will it take now
You're still my destiny

[CHORUS]

It might not have gotten a lot of radio play, but I sure played it a lot in 1991. All of the songs on this album had top notch production value, but I guess it was more of the same stuff we could expect from Chicago. They weren't able to break into the 1990s, too bad I was hoping they would continue their chart topping success. But they had a good run.

I agree, a very underrated album from a great band. It deserves more credit in terms of mastering the art of music making.

This is such an underrated album. To me, this is truly the last good album of all original material they put out. I don't know why their 1982-1991 stuff gets so much hate. What did people expect? The 70' were over. They did three albums after Terry Kath died, and they all flopped. It's not like they didn't try to move on without him and still do their thing; but when that didn't work, and Columbia records ended their relationship with them, what should they have done then. Every one in that band should have been grateful for what David Foster was able to do for them. He resurrected them and breathed new life into them, and they were able to move on and keep working. They all chose to stay and keep recording the stuff they did in the 80's. Ironically, the only one who left the band after rebranding their sound, was the one who actually liked recording those sappy love songs.
