Chicago - Movin' In Lyrics

We know it's hard for you to see
That this is all we want to be
A constant urge within us grows
We know it
To do the thing that we propose
We know it
We tried so hard to make the grade
Yes we know it
By making music day to day
Yes we know it
Although our task is never done
You know we know it
You ought to know it's just begun
You know we know it
And now it's time for us to say
But most of all we like to play
A song or two that makes you feel
We know it
Like all the good in you is real
We know it
Together now we've lots to hear
Yes we know it
To warm my heart to shed a tear
Yes we know it
So come and listen if you choose
You know we know it
And feel a joy you'll never lose
You know we know it
So everybody listen
Yeah
Everybody please give a listen

Terry Kath was the Soul of this band, you know?

  2. K.... B....

when I first started playing tenor sax the rift in this arrangement was the first I ever accomplished it was also one of the first albums I bought the year it debut. Santana, and Cold Blood were the other two. Fantastic album!

  3. N.... ....

    Chicago and Ball Torture

  5. R.... A....

    Love this song

  6. r.... ....

Early Chicago is some of the most innovative and progressive pop/rock music ever. Has that rare combination of raw, polished, edgy, energetic, bright, and I could go on. There's nothing else like it. Wow, do I miss Terry Kath.

  7. M.... H....

    What genre is this?

  8. P.... F....

Probably listened to the album 1000 times still listening in my 60s

  9. P.... ....

The first album i bye love it !!

  10. y.... s....

    UP、ありがとうございました。
    私の青春そのもの。
    宝物なのです。

  11. G.... S....

    no Terry Kath, no Chicago.

  12. W.... P....

Terry Kath was a guitar genius. But good God, could he sing. So sad he died so young.

  13. N.... T....

The intro to this song is golden!!!!

  14. R.... S....

    GREAT LYRICS

  15. M.... G....

This song was going through my mind on my flight home from Vietnam in October 1971.

    M.... G....

    Welcome home

  16. S.... ....

Some of the best from this band. Still fresh today.

  17. K.... P....

The sad part with this way of uploading the "full" album is that it appears to be the "full" album as sold digitally. The actual LP album is intended to be played without lifting the needle in its entirety. Many of the songs on both Chicago II and Chicago III play seamlessly into each other without pause. If you hear the songs piecemeal, you've been cheated of the intended pleasure.

  18. p.... g....

    The best!!

  19. S.... S....

    Awesome sax solo!!

  20. t.... o....

  27. R.... T....

Another band like Heart I didn't like at first, because I heard their 80's lovey dovey songs. Then I heard some of their 70's songs on the radio, and found out it was Chicago. I was blown away.

    R.... T....

    Get outta here

    R.... T....

you are correct youngblood! good analogy

    R.... T....

the early heart albums are good also(dreamboat annie)

  28. T.... L....

Chicago 2 best album ever made...got me through a tough summer.RIP Terry.

    T.... L....

    5 is GREAT also

  29. B.... M....

A song or two that makes you feel, Like all the good in you is real ! great Jimmy Pankow lyric!

    B.... M....

so come and listen as you choose.. and feel and a joy you'll never lose

  30. D.... F....

this album is one of their very best. the first three albums were so innovative!

    D.... F....

v was their masterpiece.. 1st single album ..check it out

    D.... F....

It was nominated for Album of the Year at the Grammys back in 70'.

    D.... F....

Donna Frost i agred Donna.after the tragic loss of Terry.Kath .they lost their.rock edge

    D.... F....

then Kath died and then they sucked

    D.... F....

    5 was also EXCELLENT

  31. P.... W....

I find it sad commentary that we have to apply skin color to music. It really shows the short sidedness of Americans and humans! i have been listening to Chicago since I was 3-4 yo. Their music was played in my home and around my neighborhood and loudly. They are one of the greatest bands of all time

    P.... W....

Sad to say it not only applies to Americans :(

    P.... W....

    Shut up.

    P.... W....

No one mentioned skin color but you. Think about that.

  32. s.... ....

"Chicago," Chicago's debut, or the second album from the renamed band, is such a fantastic 2-LP set, and I love how it fits on just one CD!

    s.... ....

sandinyourshoes Chicago Transit Authority album fits on 1 CD too.

    s.... ....

But even after all these years you still can’t beat the sound of good vinyl.

  33. r.... ....

Excellent album! Why the Chicago II album sound quality isn't as good as Chicago V, or even The Chicago Transit Authority albums?

    r.... ....

When you're touring the world, and trying to shoehorn in recording sessions, your quality isn't always best.

  34. D.... W....

Oh those days... So Much to Give, So Much to Say... So many years later,,,So Much Has Changed! So Far to Go! Peace, Love, Consciousness, Conservation (thanks Steve Miller)

  35. k.... w....

    I miss Terry's wild voice.

    k.... w....

Ter's sudden death was such a tragic loss to rock, and the boys of the band would never be the same without him.

    k.... w....

His wild voice and his amazing guitar skills. Sad day in history when he pulled that trigger. Thought the gun wasn’t loaded.

  36. J.... M....

Dang--Walter's channeling his inner Eric Dolphy. Love it!

  37. C.... B....

The white Ray Charles right there.

  38. J.... ....

Absolutely! Those horns hit it right out of the gate, and the keys/bass/drums seem to be stomping their foot going "HEY, LISTEN UP!" CTA has a special place for me, as "Beginnings" was the first tune I ever heard (should never have gotten rid of the 45!!!!).

    I, II, V

    :P

  39. s.... ....

An extremely underrated song, from my favorite album of my all-time favorite band. Sooooooo many things to like about this song: Terry's soulful vocals, the horn break, the swingin' beat, the horn solos, the "bookend" musical themes, the uniquely abrupt ending (although it was a little more abrupt than it should have been)....musical genius through and through. So much has been said over the years about Terry's masterful guitar playing - and rightly so - but I enjoyed his singing just as much.

    s.... ....

a man after my heart! this song is OUTSTANDING

    s.... ....

As far as I’m concerned, anything Kath sang or performed on is gold. He had such an amazing gift.

    s.... ....

    Spidey.
    You nailed it
Probably the best tune of the Seventies.
Funny how at first, when the song came out I always hated Walter's sax solo. Now? Well? It's still weirded out. I tell my friends in music appreciation "It's only there to make Lee's and James solos sound fantastic.
In fact Lee put down a gorgeous solo.
By the way, speaking of brass sections, in most big bands, its the lead trumpet who dominates. Historically anyway. He doesn't have to but he's usually such a dominant player. However in Chicago's case it's James Pankow's trombone which dominates. Its almost like Lee Loughnane's horn is playing second trumpet. Lee always played just right for the section. At least on the recordings. In live concerts I'm told that they're weak.

  40. A.... G....

One of my favourite songs of all time!

  41. J.... ....

Does Jimmy Pankow know how to compose a song or what?!!!

    J.... ....

James Pankow has to be the most underrated songwriter of all time!

    J.... ....

James Pankow and Robert Lamm IMHO were without doubt during the years 1969 to 1977 two of the finest composers on the planet : )

  42. d.... ....

from 1:19 to 2:25 is just musically genius

    d.... ....

1:54..........the GREATEST Alto Sax solo EVER. I love this one. Was Walt having a seizure while he recorded this one...................HA HA HA HA HA HA HA

  43. j.... ....

    The Chicago trademark sound!!

  44. r.... p....

how can you Not like this....oh, that's right...no soul.

  45. P.... ....

    Amen to that.
The man could flat out sing his ass off.

  46. P.... S....

what an lp what a band!!!!!!!!

  47. C.... ....

I couyldnt agree more the only groups coming close were later in the 70's, Kansas, Queen, Styx. But Chicago was light years ahead of any other group musically .. and yes the SAX was soooooo great..... but the whole horn section .... just the best

  48. J.... ....

    @buildelectriccarsnow

    YES!

    "Hey there, everybody" ;)

  49. S.... ....

    AMAZING!!!
    This is TRUE SOUL MUSIC!!!
    Great sax solo...shades of Ornette..

  50. C.... ....

hey Casparus52 you are so right at the end that is soooo missed when he cut it off

  51. C.... ....

So good. How can you beat this.

  52. n.... ....

I wonder if Walt was having a seizure when he played the Tenor Sax solo?

  53. C.... K....

They were doing stuff musically at this time that no one else was.
And that icludes all the cool jazz guys.

  54. E.... K....

I agree with MiGrm9!!! Terry will always be the best. Period.

  55. B.... S....

top voice, top guitarist, top band. chicago between 1969 to 1973 is right up there in terms of top shelf music. any band that can make feel so good are right up there.

  56. B.... J....

Chicago II may be their best.

  57. t.... ....

used to do this song ,we had a black singer, sounded like Kath, 2 trumpets, 2 trombones, sax, 3 singers this is great

  58. J.... ....

    @TheBeaugraham

Agreed. Some quick thoughts off the top of my head: On III, that bridge with brass section in "Mother" (after "look out, Mother") is some of the most progressive stuff they've ever done. And "Dialogue (Part I)" off V is such another classic piece from them that really captured the vibe of the times (along with timeless lyrics). I have and will always prefer the early years of Chicago. What a complete package this band was!!

  59. J.... ....

What a great opening track to hit you over the head with! The intro is 'Intro' defined! And with this album, they really showed how talented a set of JAZZ musicians they are! I consider this album their most solid.

  60. 4.... ....

    Terry,now the time!

  61. M.... ....

    <3 I love Chicago always

  62. A.... R....

Chicago 17 was at least a Grammy nominee because of the hit singles STAY THE NIGHT,YOU'RE THE INSPIRATION,HARD HABIT TO BREAK and ALONG COMES A WOMAN. Since #17,no Chicago album spawned that many singles. Many Chicago fans believe the band was at its best before Terry Kath killed himself and second best when Peter Cetera was still in the band.

  63. R.... B....

@arhuxtable You got 2 out of 3 correct i cant believe that you would actually put that piece of trash Chicago-17 down, your kidding right. Chicago 3 and 5 and 7 hell Hot Streets and Chicago-16 would go in front of 17. 17 had some of the worst songs they ever did along comes a woman, stay the night, prima donna i cant believe the mindless masses back in 1984 eat that album up crazy stuff. That was the 80's for you it was a cheese fest

  64. A.... R....

Chicago's Top 3 albums are CHICAGO TRANSIT AUTHORITY,CHICAGO II and CHICAGO 17 from 1984(the last of the Peter Cetera era and Terry Kath A.D.)

    A.... R....

By "Top 3" you mean "best selling". It doesn't have much to do with quality of the music in the case of Chicago 17. It was a different audience buying that album, since the quality and depth of the song writing was in obvious decline by then. David Foster was the force behind Chicago 17, so it was a middle of the road, pop album. The dynamic range of 17 was limited, the horn parts were simplified, the energy was contained and controlled, and it was all put into a David Foster sized box. Not at all in same league as 70's Chicago, and nowhere near as good.

  65. A.... R....

Ah,the late great Terry Alan Kath. Although trombonist James Pankow wrote this,he can't sing and play his trombone at the same time.

  66. P.... ....

You cut the end of the song off. Can you fix that?

    P.... ....

    No, that's how it ends.
