Chicago - Just You 'N' Me Lyrics

You are my love and my life
And you are my inspiration
Just you 'n me
Simple and free
Baby, you're everything I've ever dreamed of
Yeah, yeah

Give me your own special smile
Promise you'll never leave me
Just you 'n me
Simple and free
Life is so easy
When you're beside me
Oh girl

Come, hold me close
Never release me
(Oh baby don't release me)
Open your arms, let my love in
(Let me in, let me in, let me in)
Love me tonight
love me forever and ever
(You know I can't forget you)

Just you 'n me to carry on
Simple and free, my lovely
To flow as one as love's reward
Lovin' you, girl is so damn easy
Yeah, yeah

You are my love in my life
You are my inspiration
Just you 'n me
Simple and free
Baby, you're everything I've ever dreamed of
Yeah, yeah

    awesome.

This is Chicago at its best. A nice hooky pop hit that combined the horns with guitars. Can't ask for much more. Brilliant.

  3. K.... M....

My husband dedicated this to me almost 50 years ago. We’ve been married 45 years and dated for 3 before we married.

    love this

A #4 hit for Chicago in December 1973. It went to #7 on the Adult Contemporary charts and to #1 on the Cash Box charts. It went to #3 in Canada and to #23 in Australia. I saw Chicago on November 2, 1986 at The Scope in Norfolk, VA. We prepare to say goodbye to 1973 and prepare for 1974. What will the music scene be like in the upcoming year? Stay tuned.

In 1974, I was trying to get together with Jeanne O'Neill and I heard this was her favorite song. So, I bought the LP, and worked up the courage to give it to her. She refused my gift hurting my little 13 year old heart. I told my older brother what I did, and what happened.
After listening to my sad story he asked me " do you want to be a little baby and listen to this godawful dirge or do you want to grow up".
Choosing the later, he said " first of all, lets deal with this song ".At which point he said to break this record, and as you do, imagine that you are breaking Miss O'Neill's heart or face.( even better)
Then he introduced me to Black Sabbath and Blue Oyster Cult. Instead of feeling sorry for myself, I got black and blue and never was quite the same from then on.
I really would like to think that Jeanne still listens to this crap, and sees this post. You missed out on a good time with me. As many young ladies will attest to. Thanks for not accepting that gift. I might have never been introduced to real RnR, and in some way remained a little 13 year old baby. Instead I became a young man who would never feel sorry for himself again. Long Live Rock. Black, Blue, Pink.and Purple.

    J.... W....

I like this... Thanks for sharing your childhood memory... Have you given any thought on what you may say if or when Jeanne reads this?

    J.... W....

@krissy I really hope she does. Besides perhaps the embarrassment of admitting my feelings in such a way.It would certainly let her know that I got over it quickly, and moved right on. Not spending ( wasting) any time wallowing in self pity.
Not to mention learning what good music.really sounds like.Just You and Me? Sorry Jeanne not in this lifetime. 😃

    J.... W....

Maybe she will. Sounds like you got a plan.. Thanks for sharing your thoughts 😊 this is too funny and way cool 😃
Sometimes looking back it’s kinda funny how things didn’t work out, it just wasn’t meant to be. Still there are times I often wonder what might have been 🤔 Especially when I see them again, many years later just in some random place😌
Enjoy this New Year 2020 🎈

While my musical tastes tend much more toward Sabbath and BOC, I take offense that you refer to Chicago as crap! Up until Terry died in 78 they were an incredible band. Yes, it is possible to love metal as well as melodic rock n roll.

  13. o.... p....

    My favorite band ever !

  14. J.... K....

Chicago were a great band in the late 60s and early to mid 70s, but they went downhill fast after Terry died. He managed to infuse a rock element into their music that was sadly lost after his passing.

  15. C.... C....

The great Chicago!!! One of the greatest ever. My top three are Earth Wind and Fire, Chicago and The Commodores. But as far as the horns Chicago had the greatest horn section of alltime

  21. J.... M....

Beautiful love song and it is to nice to hear really. The words are well pronounced and easily understood. The lyrics are significant aned nice. No vulgarities or obscenities here, just good decent language. And the rhythm is charming too. What a great talent these musicians have! One of the best of the bands I have ever heard.

  22. J.... M....

  23. A.... M....

just you and me simple and free in 2019

Chicago is my favorite group of all time. The eagles come a close 2nd

    R.... H....

The Beatles? They gotta be in there somewhere. But Chicago is my favorite American group of all time.

    R.... H....

    Yep. I agree

    R.... H....

    Me too! That's funny.

  28. B.... L....

    1:59 sounds like Charlie Brown

  29. B.... G....

If I am remembering correctly, this was the LAST song played on WLS before they switched over to all-talk in the summer of '89, never to return to a music-based format. Ahhhhh the sweet sounds of Musicradio 89 WLS!!! Forever Chicago....... One of the last music-based "Top 40" stations in the country on AM before they switched over to talk. Damn talk radio!!! They took away the best.......

    B.... G....

I used to get that station in Beloit Wisconsin

    B.... G....

Yep, but the change was inevitable. I also was a big fan of 'LS, but music on the AM had actually died severeal years before they gave it up. Still sad, though.

  30. B.... W....

It'll never be because you don't know the first thing about how to treat me. And I don't have the patience to teach you. I would love to show and grow with a woman without any unnecessary pain inflected. But now, there is nothing but pain, hate, and distrust. War is what you wanted, it's now to little to late for lust. You didn't love me, just lusted for me. As do a lot of women. Bitches drool when they see me. You are the only one who stalked me.

    B.... W....

Brandy Webb .... Maybe you should call her instead of hiding letters on YouTube hoping she will see them 😊

  31. i.... ....

The brass on this song has always given me goose bumps. Especially, when hearing this on vinyl.

  32. R.... R....

    Just You ‘N’ Me ❤️😍

  33. T.... ....

    Lovely, no?

  34. J.... P....

Music today can't compete with this. IT NEVER GETS OLD. Listen to what they play now and once is enough.

  35. W.... E....

This was THE song when I was in high school. Reminds me of those carefree days, long ago....

I hope we can have a memorial service for her and put up a monument on the spot where she died and i hope they level your house like they do to terrorists and their families in what they call Palestine which is Zion and Davids city FOREVER. Nothing left of our baby girl but ashes and you all sat around picking her out of your teeth thinking you ate the wafer of eternal life and truly you ate the curse of death and you shall choke on it. Her name means revenge and she will get hers and he he will get his and i will get mine . Tell your tranny imposter he is going to jail so many felonys so many war crimes. Ur dun

  42. B.... A....

    James Pankow Trombone Master!

    B.... A....

And great composer. Robert Lamm and Pankow wrote terrific songs for the band, then Cetera came in joined them writing some fantastic tunes as well.

  43. L.... R....

Love, love...reminds me of being 8 years old!

  44. E.... B....

This was mine and my first girlfriend, Terri’s, “song” when we were in eighth grade. What’s funny is that when we reconnected back in 2009, after about 27yrs of no contact with each other, I reminded her of this and she had completely forgotten about it.😒 She’s still one super Cool Lady, though.

  45. M.... W....

    Underrated bassist Cetera

  46. M.... K....

This song brings back so many memries ,one of my all time favorite bands of all time

  47. A.... G....

    very nice

  48. S.... C....

I have many favorite songs from this reverential band, but this early 70's Pop/Rock/R&B tune, may just be at the head of the list.

Everything is perfect about it, from the smooth, soulful musical arrangements, to the pristine vocals and harmonies.

This is certainly, music/work from them, that has clearly stood the test of time, it sounds as good now, than it did the very first time I ever heard it...

    S.... C....

One of my all time faves as well. James Pankow was a genius. Everything clicked in this masterpiece, what a band.

    S.... C....

@Lamarr Avery I couldn't agree any more, without the brass in this tune, it wouldn't have had the same luster...

    S.... C....

    Love this band too...

  49. L.... A....

    Beutiful song

  50. K.... D....

    YOU'RE ALL NUTS

    K.... D....

  53. K.... D....

Yes they are,, the best band ever!! This song is about my high school love and me ❤❤

  54. J.... A....

    Ohhh !! my young days

  55. H.... F....

The horns in this song are great

    H.... F....

The horns are by Jimmy Pancow who wrote the song.

    H.... F....

    No shit

    H.... F....

Horns like those go great with music

    H.... F....

    OH YEAH! Flawless!

  56. M.... C....

FYI.. None of this song was written by Peter Cetera, this was all Jimmy Pankow..

    M.... C....

Mountain Chief that's right just the amazing voice of Peter Cetera who along with writing of Jimmy Panko made it great.

    M.... C....

@Chicago Fan .. I see they corrected the writer's credit in the description since I posted my original comment. They had Peter Cetera listed solely as the writer

    M.... C....

    @Chicago Fan .. Panko-W👈😎

    M.... C....

Jimmy and his girlfriend had gotten into an argument. She locked him out so he went to the piano and just started playing this. Talent.

  57. M.... C....

    The great Jimmy Pankow!

  58. e.... e....

Walter Parazaider sax solo is sick.

    e.... e....

ernest edwards Walter was amazing on the horns. I can see why he was offered to play in a professional orchestra but so glad he turned it down to play in Chicago

    e.... e....

    @Chicago Fan Good decision

    e.... e....

And in concert, he would substitute his sax for his clarinet and sometimes his flute, what a virtuoso. Very talented dude, they all were. They were the best.

  59. C.... L....

My grandpa just passed on the 22nd. He said before he went this was his favorite song. I miss you dearly pops.

    C.... L....

Thank you very much, he had amazing taste in music! I miss him dearly, but he lived an amazing life! Even got to see his great grandkids. He told me if he died tomorrow he would have no regrets. He passed peacefully listening to his music one last time. His funeral was big and everyone praised him highly as the meaning of a good man. Till i meet him again..... until then, I’m appreciating his music more than ever ❤️

    C.... L....

Christina Lopez just wanted to tell you that I'm 62years old and I have held onto the great memories of both of my grandfathers in songs they passed in the 80s and it's now when I hear that's amore for one and downtown for the other, I stop and sing them and hold their love in my heart.

    C.... L....

I feel you!! I am 59 and i have tasted loss for the past 10yrs!! Lost my grandparents,my parents,my oldest sweet daughterlast December 23rd from a drugoverdose!! This song to me is not for a man but for my daughter as when she was a 4yr old i use to take her to the park here in Florida on the river when Chicago would play and we would blow bubbles and dance to this beautiful band which i grew up with. She loved them till the day she died. She was 31 and a beautiful soul. It's so hard to lose those that we hold dear to our hearts😍
