Chicago - In The Country Lyrics

Oh my reasons
And my ways
Keep on changing
From day to day
As I grow
It becomes so clear
Why I'm here
It's all here
for you and me
The beauty of life
Someday you'll see
Then you'll join in
And sing along
And you'll understand why I sing this song
Let me tell you now
I do love you
I do love you
I do love you
Well I'm talkin' bout life
And livin'
And the beautiful earth
And givin'
Talkin 'bout the natural things we've had since birth
That's lovin'
Well I'm talkin' 'bout a walk in the country
'Bout an angel's sweet charm
The smell of her perfume
And they both comin' on
Let me tell you now
I do love you
I do love you
I do love you
Well it's a beautiful day
And I'm on my way
Oooh, thank you lord, for the country
Well my thoughts
Are like ripples in a stream
I see myself so free
My eyes and spirit say hello
My soul goes dancing by, oh hello
The clean fresh air
Goes jumping through my head
The sun is smilin' down
If you have ever lived out here
Then you know why I say
I do love you
I do love you
I do love you
So come on let's move
Out to the country
Yeah, let's go live out there
Let's get funky
Come on people
Come on people
Yeah, let's be free
We got to be free
In the country
You and me
Come on people
Come on people
Better have a good time (background: oh baby, good)
We'll have a good time (background: let's give 'em life (?)
We got to be free (background: come on now)

My favorite song off a great album.

Thursday, Sept. 20, 2018, Chicago at the Oakdale Theater in Wallingford, Conn., performing Chicago II in its entirety. I've seen them in concert probably 8 times over the last 30 years, but I never would have thought I'd have the chance to hear this stuff live and in person. It'll sound different without Terry and Peter, but it's still great music, and I'm really looking forward to it.

    テリーキャスが生きていたら、今のシカゴはどんな感じかなあ、
    この当時のピーターはかげがうすいね。
    テリーキャスの存在感はハンパない!

  19. M.... M....

  21. 1.... ....

Terry Kath was just fuckin great in every way!!!

  22. S.... F....

Please be advised CTA cannot be duplicated . One of a Kind.

  23. S.... L....

Poor Danny having trouble with his drums,, bass drum pedal looks like, he was definitely given it a work out with those 16th notes talk about one quick foot driving the crap out of that band.. Terry was the battery but Danny was the fire.. lt was the worst thing Chicago could have done was to fire Danny , besides I thought at the beginning they all agreed that nobody could be fired. Danny Seraphine is such a great drummer. I was hoping Chicago would put whatever was going on hi them then in the past and bring back an old friend the best drummer they ever had back in the band, Chicago will sound like Chicago again. I mean what could be that bad that they wouldn't what him back in the band?! Maybe they might be back on the charts if they did. There's no way Tris imboden came even close to driving Chicago the way that Danny Seraphine could drive a band..

  24. C.... F....

Peter Cetera's voice was amazing in this song.

    C.... F....

    Exact👌🏻💓 he's perfect💞

  25. A.... V....

Raw power! Nothing will ever come close to the original lineup.

  26. s.... p....

Terry made this album #1 for me.

Late 60's early 70's Chicago was all I ever needed!

  29. D.... M....

What a band ! In those days nothing like it . Great instrumentals , vocals and lyrics . The best horn band , hands down .
This song was one of my favorites . God bless em' .

  30. p.... t....

great music & memories for 50 years, one of the best bands of all time, absolutely beautiful music, solid gold standard of excellence

  31. R.... B....

lucky to have seen Terry live before his untimely death. He just kills it.

    R.... B....

nice.. I would have loved to see Chicago in there prime !!!

    R.... B....

Wow. That’s awesome you got to see him. Soulfully done Terry❤️

    R.... B....

@Brian Laurin I did see them in their prime, in the mid 70's at the Spectrum in Philadelphia, PA. They made a good job of the several shows I saw there. See Leonid and Friends for the continuation of the original "Chicago" sound.

  32. S.... ....

One of the few Chicago tracks which is not embarrassing.

    S.... ....

What do you mean, "not embarrassing"

    S.... ....

    @Brian Laurin:
What do you mean, "not embarrassing"?
    ------------------------------------------
When I was younger, in my days on college, I loved this band because of the voice of Terry Kath and the trombone sound of James Pankow. A pal of mine heard Blues at that time and used to scroff about Chicago. He called it "All the happy people music" :-)
I understood it later on: It's a little bit "sweetish".
There is no question: It was a band of very professional musicans.
But I found Blood Sweat & Tears much more better.
Chicago started very hopeful, with some good douple-LPs - but got under influence of Peter Cetera to much into direction "girl's music".

    S.... ....

Susisaftig .I agree how Peter turn this bad ass group into a girl music band. Just as Steve Perry turn Journey into a girl music band

    S.... ....

Let's say: The had a grandiose start, to go into insignificant boring mainstream, already during the Seventies. I regret that. May be it was the first band combining jazz and rock in a very special American rural style. - From time to time I use to hear them, as a kind of reminiscence to my youth.

    S.... ....

Brian Laurin No Brian..Pete did not..It was when after Terry and they fired Jimmy Gurico and gave the wheel to David Foster and he drove the band down that syrypy road is when it happened

  33. j.... t....

    Pretty Dammmmm Goood! !

  34. P.... D....

This is the band I will always remember !!! , seven musicians sounding like a full orchestra , fantastic

  35. R.... A....

One of my favorite Chicago songs and one that showcases the band's talents and epitomizes why the original seven were so good. Like a finely tuned 8-cylinder vehicle firing on all cylinders. And Terry Kath was just unbelievable, a total monster on guitar. Can't wait to see daughter Michelle's documentary.

  36. A.... N....

I just can't see how how he could play that blistering lead annd and rythem too all through a song, while singing those amazing vocals at the same time. what concentration and awsome talent.

    A.... N....

thats one of the reasons Kath was unique..his ability to sing..through difficult rhythms..plus solo..and play the best rhythm guitar on the planet.!!

    A.... N....

Allen Nance :Shortly before his death, when.asked who his favourite up and coming guitarists were, Jimi Hendrix said he dug Terry Kath, and Billy Gibbons.

  37. L.... S....

    Tight Musician's...

  38. j.... f....

    terry was epic

  39. M.... s....

Just imagine what they would`ve done without the death of Terry Kath.

    M.... s....

Mike swart he was ready to leave the band at that point.

    M.... s....

Mike swart probably faded into obscurity like the the rest and the best of them

  40. g.... ....

I always liked how Terry and Pete would trade off lead vocals on certain songs. Those two would handle it well, without trying to outdo each other.

    g.... ....

    call and response, baby!

  41. A.... P....

    Hell yea!

  42. L.... ....

    Love this song!!

  43. r.... ....

how much I love this man!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! and this song........

    r.... ....

May Terry Kath rest in peace.

  44. N.... M....

It's too bad that Chicago is mostly remembered now for soft-rock ballads. This was the Chicago I first fell in love with - a band that jammed as hard as anyone led by the supremely talented Terry Kath.

    N.... M....

    Touché!

    N.... M....

Oh, I'll remember this even after I get Some-timers.
    I hope.

    😎

  45. A.... F....

TERRY KATH ! He's The Man!

  46. J.... H....

    RIP Terry Kath.

  47. J.... R....

The two people who made Chicago awesome were Peter Cetera and Terry Kath! When them two were gone the band was still good, but not like it was with them! RIP Terry Kath!

    J.... R....

+Anthony Festa, Good point!! There is nothing like the originals!

    J.... R....

+Anthony Festa, My mom got me hooked on Chicago years ago when I was a young teenager. The old members wasn't there, but Chicago 21 had just came out. I got that album on cassette tape.lol! It had "hearts in pieces" on it. It was summer time in the early 90s. Good memories! :-)

    J.... R....

+Jonathan Reynolds , Maybe that was there 20th album. It was one of them!! lol!

    J.... R....

+Jenny M , You can't find good music like this anymore! Kids have been programmed by the "machine" today! When hip hop and rap got introduced to the public American music went to crap! Thank God there is still some smart kids out there - such as yourself - who know good music!

  48. s.... ....

Congratulations, Chicago..........RRHOF Class of 2016, 'bout damn time!!

  49. r.... d....

great example of why this was the greatest rock band of that time. Innovative, talented, tight - they had everything

    r.... d....

I love Chicago, but I question your use of the superlative "greatest." Led Zeppelin and the Stones were both doing pretty good work in 1970.

    r.... d....
