Chicago - 25 Or 6 To 4 Lyrics
Waiting for the break of day
Searching for something to say
Flashing lights against the sky
Giving up I close my eyes
Sitting cross-legged on the floor
Staring blindly into space
Getting up to splash my face
Wanting just to stay awake
Wondering how much I can take
Should I try to do some more
25 or 6 to 4
Feeling like I ought to sleep
Spinning room is sinking deep
Searching for something to say
Waiting for the break of day
25 or 6 to 4

Chicago 25 Or 6 To 4 Comments
A great song is a great song
1970 that was.
The wawa makes the song, I can't possibly sit still when this is playing, anytime anywhere. Saw them in Austin in 1907 and Philly in 1978. Not enough.
Peter Cetera has the voice of an Angel
Love it!!
In the early 70's, my high school's band would play this song minutes before tipoff of big games against league opponents. We the student body got pretty pumped up.
People that try to cover this song on Youtube with their guitars just need to stop. I just got done listening to some covers of this and I wanted to puke. So I came here to hear the real deal. This is the only version that should be allowed on Youtube.
I saw these guys in Raleigh, NC back in 1971. They did this song as an encore! Tremendous concert!
FUCK ME! PLAY THAT GEEETAR!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
My God,
Good story behind this song.
base line is just sick
Back when music was still worth a damn. Kids nowadays have no clue what they missed out on.
BDC's Sanctuary Most kids
Is there a better guitar solo than this I'm not sure ,I've never heard anything come close
Blistering guitar solo!
ah the 70's chicago and terry kath jimmy page jimmi hendrix ritchie blackmore tony iommi beginning to think there will never be great guitarists again
proposed there 20+ years ago
I was 38 years of age.. when i just now found this song.. freebird, die already. this all day ev day. for the rest of my waking days
The live OMFTR Freebird solo w/Gaines and Collins is the greatest thing ever recorded
he plays with so much freedom!
Terry Kath played the guitar like I would play air guitar, but he was actually doing it!😂
Terry Kath, Bonham,Carl Palmer, Greg Lake... Glad I was a teen in the 70s
How 'bout Brad Delp?
@Roy Kliffen you got it, Boston.. yep
My cousin and I wont speak because of political beliefs anymore. He introduced me to this song back in the day, and i looked up to him until he blamed me for being "this and that"
Let me take a stab
You lean right ge leans left?
@Jeremy Clark
Funny how it didn't work that way with the obama election though?
That's pretty sad considering you both have as little say over who is in power as you do in who plays for your football team. Always depressing when people put ideas over people.
Welcome to the mystic
Joe you are cool °()°
...My Fav of all time Chicago.....Love love love...get off yer feet
I have a 45rpm single side A is25 or 6 to 4 and side B is colour my world by Chicago, also an album simply titled’’Chicago’’ love ‘em both.
Man, fantastic guitar solo, one up the best of all time
For the youngsters watching this, those things in their hands are called musical instruments.
Nestor Martinez what instruments do you play boomer? Dumbass you can’t even take care of yourself
Who came here because of the Army commercial lol bad ass song though
I have watched this video a total of 65k times and all the up votes are mine
Thumbnail totally looks like Anthony Kedis
I want to invite all of my brothers and sisters who read this to read The Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ. Thank you
please do not mislead people, friend. stick with the King James Bible.
Kath: Greatest American guitarist of the rock era.
Hendrix! Duane Allman and Stevie Ray Vaughan! Appreciate your opinion but be careful of pronouncing anything the ‘greatest.’
@DH Blan Yes it is hard to judge a No. 1. I tend to drop Jimi cause he got his first taste of fame in UK (even though that wasn't his fault).
wow nice thx
Innovative, talented, unique, broad appeal, steady, well-done and practical.-like a minivan. And that excellent horn section was the fold-down seats in the back. No? Ok, consider 2 great painters: one wins an award, displays paintings at museum. The other-Chicago- is awarded the bid to paint the museum. Like store-brand cola, or name-brand clothing at TJ Max you liked Chicago's music, just weren't sure if it was the real thing.
WOW!!!!!!!!!!
If you don't know what this song was about, then I'm sorry you missed one of the best times in history. An age of enlightenment it was.
Tremendous Terry Kath
Tremendous Terry Kath
Hands down best version of an absolutely amazing, classic song. Especially the solo, hands down, one of the best, if not the best solo i've ever heard. If he continued it for an hour, it would'nt be too long at all. Terry Kath is one of the greatest, energetic, guitarists ever to exist, and here in this performance, he really shines. Why did he have to play that game of Russian Roulette in 1978. RIP Terry Kath, god bless his soul.
I dont think he was playing RR. I believe he was fucking around, said it wasnt loaded and it was.
Basic firearms safety.
Treat it as if it is always loaded
Talk about talent. This song came about when a bunch of musicians were sitting in a studio (some crossed-legged on the floor) and someone asked the time to which their was a reply "25 or 6 to 4". FFS these guys could have made a number one hit out of "I ate oatmeal for breakfast".
They don’t make em like Terry Kath anymore...🙏🏻
Another day in another time? Beautiful performance.
Ils sont disparus aujourd'hui merde!
Des super musiciens aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
De la vrai musique Rock.aaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaahhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The great Taft Eagle Terry Kath
Fantastic vocals by Peter!!🌸🌹💋💕Love you!💋❤️
Terry Kath, what a legend. And Peter Cetera on vocals and bass! Amazing.
This band just overflowing with talent
You can feel the heat emanating from that guitar!

Another few seconds of that Kath solo and that guitar would have burst into flames!
billvill61 man must have made a deal with the devil to shred like that
Captain Archer on trombone!
I have listened to this song hundreds of times since it's release but this is the first time I heard it.
I just checked Rolling Stone’s 100 greatest guitarists, Terry Kath doesn’t make it. You can pour the brains of the panel who complied the list onto a teaspoon and there would still be room for sugar.
Chicago and Terry Kath Rock the billions of universes!!!!!!!
What did Terry Kath say into the microphone right before he started playing? Come on people what did he say?????
Got me?🤔
Kids today? I love music. And when sublime put brass in their songs I thought of Chicago
This is why they sell out Mohegan sun in 10 mins to this day
What a great sound!
Kath says in so few words: I'ma gonna play some rhythm on this guitar. Time I throw on the flanger, you'd better be done playing footsy with that damned drum stand.
🤣The man had business to take care of and playing games wasnt part of it!
Pankow always watches with amazement when Terry Kath solos.
I wish I had a dollar for every time my wife made me turn the volume down on a Chicago tune . This song rocks!
I don't mean to be offensive but ,goddammit man. I loved this song but the energy of these guys is off the dam chart. Sorry but I just couldn't handle it. Thanks for posting this video ! May you all be as happy and blessed as I am. Thanks Chicago!
Music with horns is fading. I miss it. Tell me if you do to. Please. 42 and so sad.
That moment when one guy makes the rest of the band sound like a supporting cast...
I'm still listening to this almost 50 years later and still floored by the sheer talent of Terry Kath.
R.i.p. Terry
Often overlooked because he didn't play in a traditional guitar-anchored band, Terry Kath could stand toe-to-toe and trade guitar chops with anyone - pick your favorite - Hendrix, Clapton, Page, SRV, whomever. Thanks to videos like this, people have the opportunity see how multi-talented he was. The world missed out on a lot of potentially wonderful music since he left us so early.
I was there! 👍🏼
the horn section comes in late at the the 535 mark...i think they got hypnotized by kath's playing
One of the best rock & roll bands ever and that guitarist is so impressive🎸🎺🎷
Terry Kath. Wow! I can't get enough of that guitar solo. Hendrix actually said Kath was better than him. Open for debate but MAN! What a solo! You died way too young, Terry.
Wonder who was better? Keith or Slow Hand, Eric Clapton , if your old enough, do you still remember? This was after Hendrix, just wondering.
AWSOME !!! Terry Kath- as well as all the Other members !!!!!!!!
Captain beafheart.
We tried to play this song in junior high band. I played trombone. We didn’t have anyone who could play guitar
Iike that
Wonder what it sounded like- probably pretty good- did you have a trumpet?
Ive been playing in cover bands for 25 years or so and still cant find a guitar player who can even fake it
Just fucking brilliant.
Feel like a kid!
Magnatism
Pure magnetism peter had
I think I was there. All a bit foggy.
Kath makes that giutar his bitch! 55yrs young n still 'our music' lives.....about to smoke a bone listening to this.....seen them live......pure talent! None of this 'machine made' crap n poor me lyrics....The 60's produced last generation of Real Men n Women
JIMI HENDRIX
CLEARLY STATED..
That Terry Kath was the greatest guitar player he'd ever seen/heard
Terry was a fucking monster. Goddamn could he burn.
I have had the privilege of seeing this incredible band twice in my life live!
December 1979, Las Vegas, Jerry brown for president concert with Linda ronstadt and The Eagles.
Later, 2016 in Vegas stand alone. This is one of the greatest bands of my lifetime.
I especially love how well Robert Lamm (keyboards) accented Terry's lead on this song. He incorporated the sound of a rhythm guitar player with his masterful abilities. One hell of a talent in his own right, as well as vocalist. Each member gave Chicago their ultimate sound/energy !
terry was one of the best guitar players ever
Terry Kath waits for NO ONE!
These guys are really good musicians , and they know how to put on a good show for their fans !
I wish I could "like" this twice!!
Make a second profile😝
Hottest guitar solo I've ever seen! That's a big bowl of Wow! :)
Damn I'm opening for Joe Cool?!? He was 63 a year ago and I just turned 63 this month! So I'm gonna let him have it after I say one thing : JUST LOOK AT HOW YOUNG PETER CETERA IS HERE! OMG! Okay Joe.
Truly, incredibly fantastic..... WOW, just WOW!
REO was the best band start up ever in Urbana, I drank coffee, in the morning at Dunkin Do, Nuts. Doing my Homework. At night there was this great bar on Green Street, I think it was called, Little Miss/ Witts End. This was the first time I ever heard of REO Speed Wagon Music at an Urbana, IL bar. SO great memories!
Terry accidently shot his self in mid 70's
He died right on the spot
Playing w a gun
Peter Cerera really had a great voice for rock n roll.
To bad the 80s came along and ruined many a group
The Train David Foster and his crappy sappy songs ruined Cetera.....he got soft after TK died.
Newzchspy this is true
Man. He tore that up!
Justin Bieber is Peter Frampton reborn.
Man, the Drugs were so good back then. (I mean Quality wise, Mom). Yes, the ones you got from the Doctor were better.
