Chevelle - Ruse Lyrics

I wouldn't use the word compare but influence. King Crimson influenced Tool and they influenced Chevelle. They have similar sounding riffs but the compositions aren't comparable.

This is definitely less artsy than Tool.

I was listening to 'Don't Believe' by Seether and the riffs seemed so familiar, I was kinda imagining Ruse's before I figured out which song it was.

This band has put out a lot of filler ever since This Kind of Thinking but when they get it right it really hits home.

1:50 "Just live a little more" is the essence of Chevelle. Extremely powerful guitar backed with equally powerful vocals. Best band on the face of the earth right now.

There's something incredibly touching, tender yet immensely powerful about his vocal performances isn't there.

Parts of this song, especially the intro, sound just like 10 Years. His voice comes very close to Jesse's in this song.

Might be my favorite Chevelle song. Granted through the years i get into different moods and feel different songs more or less so its hard to say with such a good band... But yes this is my favorite but Hats off to the Bull

Unlike most previous Chevelle albums, this one took me awhile to get into. But now, it's one of my all time favorites!!! Seriously, songs like Ruse, The Meddler, Envy, and Clones!!! Plus all the singles are great too!!! i disagree with what most people say, I think this stands up equally to Sci-Fi Crimes :)

I only feel compelled to say something when people mistakenly say Chevelle sounds the "same" as Tool. Some people need to understand the difference between influenced and comparing versus sounding the same. Tool is amazing and so is Chevelle, for that I agree with you. Rock on \m/

Why get so pissy about Chevelle being compared to Tool? If anything it should be an honor to them. Regardless, they are both masters of the Alternative rock and metal genre.

Thank you, an intelligent comment. All you ever see is people comparing Chevelle to Tool, when in fact you're right, they sound a lot more like Helmet. It's a damn shame more people don't know about Helmet, they influenced a lot of bands and get no credit at all.

I must mention these few facts that seperate the two. #1 Chevelle does not have Danny Carey .Second their timings are way different Chevelle sticks to the more simple 4's and occasional 6. Meanwhile, Tool plays off time going from 3 to 11 and i think ive counted ever further then that. They are a instrumental band first and foremost.. just watch them live the stage is set for the rest of the band while Maynard hides in the back.. if you want to hear him sing go listen to A Perfect Circle..

I can explain to you why... They both are melodic with low tuned and aggressive guitars. Both use a lot of bass to back up their guitar parts in harmony. If you like one, you'll most likely like the other. If you don't like Tool then t -_- t
