Country has always jumped into the pop scene.

lilchi721 Sure, many of the more greedy, disingenuous country artists have always pandered to the mindless masses of the pop scene. The problem is today's country has zero country in it. It's not that it has drifted towards pop and adopted some elements of it, but rather it is purely pop, at a time when pop has never been more empty, valid or devoid of actual music or talent.

The fact that this songs hits so many memories of bad relationships for me personally, is down right scary. Foreigner put it out and even then it impacted me emotionally. To hear Kenny sing it is more tear jerking for me than any other emotion. It's a song that hits me hard... bottom line.

I think this is a pretty good cover since he did make it fit for him. He could never sing like Foreigner.
I like the message of this song but unfortunately most miss the point of it. Love is Love tia.

Proof positive that when a talented performer covers a good song, he can make it a whole new song if he wants to. And I'm told Chesney recorded this back in the mid-1980s, right after it was a hit for Foreigner. But we're only hearing about it now ... WHY!?

I'm sorry to disagree with the comments here, but it's not for me. I was, and still am, a BIG fan of the original Foreigner version. It came out long before I was a country music fan, and was one of my favorite songs back when, and still is. But this is not at all a cut on KC; I'm also a big fan of his, just not this version of the song.
