Charles, Ray - Nancy (With The Laughing Face) Lyrics

If I don't see her each day, I miss her
Gee what a thrill, each time I kiss her
Believe me, I've got a case
On Nancy, with the laughing face

She takes the winter and she makes it summer
And summer could take a few lessons from her
Picture a tomboy in lace
That's Nancy with the laughing face

Did you ever heard mission bells ringing
Well she'll give you the very same glow
When she speaks you would think it was singing
Just hear her say hello

I swear to goodness, you can't resist her
But I'm sorry for you, the girl has no sister
No girl could ever replace
Nancy, with the laughing face

"Nancy" has become a great standard! And I must say, Ray Charles rendition is absolutely grand! What I like about singers of "his day", is that they were ALL ORIGINALS!! Unlike today where you can't make out who is who, it's unmistakable when you hear Ray, Frank, Sammy, Tony etc.,

Joyce Reese  Our beautiful Nancy was born smiling. Her Dad, Keith, would play the tune on piano and sing it to her. She thought he was teasing her until she grew up and realized what a beautiful song it is and that he was not teasing.

Over 40 years ago I named our first daughter after this song. It turned out to be prophetic as Nancy is every bit this description. Her sons have received her disposition as well. All are very bright, intellectually as well as disposition.

But she does have a younger sister, who also has this same disposition.

This is one of Ray Charles finest LPs. Every song he sings is magnificent. I can't believe there are so few hits in this. I still play this and 50 years latter it still is brilliant. I love you Ray!!! God bless You.
