Charles, Ray - Babes In Arms Lyrics
They call us babes in arms
But we are babes in armour.
They laugh at babes in arms
But we'll be laughing far more.
On city street and farms
Youth will arrive,
Let them know you are alive,
Make it your cry!
They call us babes in arms
They think they must direct us.
But if we're babes in arms
We'll make them all respect us.
Why have we got our arms,
What have we got our sight for?
Play day is done,
We must fight for.
So babes in arms to arms!

Whites dressed up as blacks.
Hmm... maybe the blackface clip could have been taken out. Maybe take it off the film entirely.
Dang, 1930s-50s Hollywood wasn't a good time was it?
As much as we all hate blackface, it has become such an important piece of film and theatre history, that removing it would be like denying that it ever existed. The scene represents a vaudeville act, and blackface was very commonly used in burlesque, vaudeville, and even into the ziegfeld follies, that removing the scene would take out so much of Mickey's character, and would probably effect the continuity of the story.
but um yeah, theatre and film was really something else back then
Mickey Rooney was cute
Blackface is not just racist, it's too fuckin' freaky!!! :(
THE MUSICALS WAY BETTER AND MAKES MORE SENCES!!!!
Cloak your heart with Joy people! Cloak it.

I was just like Dorothy in the hurricane: "Miss Gulch!". I wouldn't believe she's in this picture.
