Chapman, Steven Curtis - For The Sake Of The Call Lyrics
We will abandon it all for the sake of the call
No other reason at all but the sake of the call
Wholly devoted to live and to die for the sake of the call
Nobody stood and applauded them
This road would not lead to fame
All they really knew for sure
Was Jesus had called to them
He said "come follow Me" and they came
With reckless abandon, they came
Empty nets lying there at the water's edge
Told a story that few could believe
And none could explain
How some crazy fishermen agreed to go where Jesus lead
For Jesus had called them by name
And they answered...
We will abandon it all for the sake of the call
No other reason at all but the sake of the call
Wholly devoted to live and to die for the sake of the call
The sake of the call
Drawn like the rivers are drawn to the sea
There's no turning back, for the water cannot help but flow
Once we hear the Savior's call, we'll follow wherever He leads
Because of the love He has shown
And because He has called us to go
We will answer...
We will abandon it all for the sake of the call
No other reason at all but the sake of the call
Wholly devoted to live and to die
Not for the sake of a creed or a cause
Not for a dream or a promise
Simply because it is Jesus who called
And if we believe we'll obey
We will abandon it all for the sake of the call
No other reason at all but the sake of the call
We will abandon it all for the sake of the call
No other reason at all but the sake of the call
Wholly devoted to live and to die for the sake of the call
For the sake of the call
We will abandon it all for the sake of the call
No other reason at all
We will abandon it all
No other reason at all
We will abandon it all [fade out]

Chapman, Steven Curtis For The Sake Of The Call Comments
Ive just begun writing christian songs, and steven curtis chapman is an inspiration to me!
you touch my heart I was in LA in the 80's and you touched me then and even now...WE CAN NEVER ABANDON THE CALL..
I really love SCC's early music like this. I don't know if it bothers me or blesses me that more people haven't seen/heard this and commented. The bible tells us that "the way to life is narrow and few will find it, but the road that leads to destruction is wide and many there be that find it..." I think it means the majority isn't going to be with God, the majority is going to take that "road to destruction" and you can see that when you look at the views on a song like this vs. the views and comments on secular, sexual, meaningless songs. The kingdom of heaven is a "treasure buried in a field" and a "pearl of great price." It isn't out there, everywhere to be seen and easily found. It is hidden, obscured, waiting for those who really want it, to go out and find it. Great song.
The great call of god 💎
