Ceremony - The Separation Lyrics
Pieces of time
Thrown from the bow
Five years away
You never figured it out
When she closed the door
You started throwing yourself
You started throwing yourself
Can you measure the loss?
[repeat]
Pieces of time
Thrown from the bow
Five years away
You never figured it out
You feel down
You started throwing yourself
You started throwing yourself
Can you measure the loss?
[repeat]

Ceremony The Separation Comments
ceremony cuando vendras a chile ? :(
They've been faking it from the beginning anyway
Literally think these guys got way better.
People who think this is Joy Division ripoff haven’t heard a Joy Division song that wasn’t Disorder
title fight vibes
Buster Ceremony
Magic Marker
On Floor
God damn, this album aged really well
Does the last half of this song remind anybody else of Interpol? 💜
I really like Zoo! Will I like the album were this is from?
Que vibe dahora❤🙏💃
yeaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa
damn theyve changed since ruined 2005 and scared people. Not to mention violence violence classic but still a great band
All I can say to this is, why? You cucks had a good thing going, I enjoy my Alternative/indie bull, but this is just awful. Last time I checked, Ross isn't English..But he sure as hell is trying to sound like it...
Dedd El this is stupid ass comment. Sorry bub.
Beautiful.
amo esta banda uwu
Saw them this year with my x gf, was a great show in Chicago for only -15 bucks I actually like this song it sounds like new order they play violence violence and robbert park. I actually wanna be cool with my x for coming to this show with me it kicked so much ass idc ppl say ceremony will always kickasd
Been out of the scene for about 5 years now... I remember seeing these dudes countless times at Gilman and always being a fuckin force to be reckoned with. Now I search them up to see what they've been up to and it seems like Im in the twilight zone... LOL I'll check back in 5 more years and see if they did anything worth while. Go back to hardcore and stop with the hot topic rock.
Eventually you just get tired of doing the same thing every time. Not everyone can be Duane Peters...
10/10 thought this was Interpol in blindtasting.
Shoulda gave it up after Rohnert Park and gone out as a phenomenal hardcore band. I don't wanna think of Ceremony as this post trash crap.
reminds me of that weird kid everyone knew that was into a different subculture every week, like punk one week, goth the next, stoner etc. I would be kind of embarrassed, at least cover your tracks a little bit...'hey, ur influences r showing bro'
Ceremony did mannequin challenges before they were cool 2:08
it seems so fucking simple, does anybody have the tabs for the understanding?
kind of like joy division but its all good
I watch this every day, it's so good.
They're progression as a band kind of remind meat of AFIs but more extreme
Also I know they don't sound like them just the way they've been growing as a band
this shit is great , their old stuff is great its all great
If this was any other band I wouldn't mind the sound. But to me it was like they woke up one day and said, "let's try to sound like Interpool as much as possible." But like current Simpson episodes, still beats most everything on the t.v. (radio)(internet music)(whatever).
Sounds more to me like they decided "lets try to sound like Joy Division as much as possible"
I mean they literally got their name from the Joy Division song Ceremony and its kind of a logical progression from what they were doing on zoo so I don't think its so much they just all of a sudden wanted this. More like they just grew tired of what they were doing before and made a slow change into what they wanted to be now.
Johnny KRAPS II Joy division***
Iv absolutely loved every piece of musiqu created from Ceremony. All the different styles threw out the years, but always kept their sound true.
Been fuckin with ceremony since I was 14 I'm 21 now. Only thing that makes me proud to be from Rohnert park
I love alot of bands of this style(Television,The modern lovers, the birthday party, ect) but this just sounds like a joy division cover band =/ these guys are more than capable of playing a throw back sound(rohnert park) while still adding there personality/style into it....
what in the world does this have to do with Modern Lovers? TML are no where near goth imho
their all consider post punk bands. Goth or not...
but you said in the "style" not in the "taxonomy"
+spj ah fair enough you get the point though
none of your business they got their name out of a Joy Division song duh
Fuck joy division inspired shit
+Erik Dickey wait are you saying fuck Joy Division as a whole, or are you just saying fuck Joy Division inspired shit.
It is very interesting hiw they changed the sound. I really like it. It feels more personal, as I have changed certain things in my life as well.
The best Joy Division album that Joy Division never made.
LOVE IT!!!! LOVE IT !
Pretty good, but Rohnert Park is the Ceremony I love.
Ceremony is and was my favorite band. Best album of the year. Music is music and if all you listen to is hardcore or powerviolence go fuck yourself. ✌
Rich kids parents buy them drum sets and guitars in high school I want to be just like Davey havoc.
Sounds like Donnie darko music good thing this band was a always a do what's trendy sound I'm sure they'll change again with whatever style of punk is cool at that time and sound shitty all over again, I'm sure the reason they started a band was cause it was a trend thing cause this isn't doing anything good for music.
Wtf. What happened to violence violence?
+Ash Ketchum RIP
At least title fight changed progressively and let their fans get a feel for what they were doing
Why call yourselves cermony. Stop dragging your name through this shit and just let it go. If you want to make such a drastic change to your sound please stop misleading your fans and change your name
The lighting reminds me of Anthony McCalls art. Cool stuff.
this sounds like the perfecting of a style, not just the aping of it. love this tune!
They used to sound way more authentic when they played hardcore. They had their own sound. Now they just sound like a 2005 british indie band rip off. Guess you gotta keep making money when you run out of inspiration (and this comes from someone who likes post-punk a lot more than hardcore).
se parece al steven morrissey ja!
Bands need to evolve, says the people.
Wondering what theyd say if Black Flag did this shit.
I don't understand why people are so against change. I personally like all of Ceremony's stuff. If your music taste hasn't changed a bit in almost a decade, that doesn't say much about you. I don't think I would be listening to a few of the bands I still listen to, if they didn't evolve their sound. Love this album, and love all the old ones.
Ian Curtis is rolling around in his grave.
This stuff is pretty cool, but in my opinion, they found their perfect sound on Rohnert Park. They should have went more towards that post-hardcore direction, rather than this post-punk/shoegazey sound.
of course , the influence of J.D. and why not? especially when it's done! And this isn't it! ;-)
I can hear the Joy Division/The Smiths/The Mob, etc. influence in the sound of this album (Even from lack of hearing the whole album) but I enjoy the melancholy guitar, the somber voice, it is somehow familiar with those bands and different. For everyone saying that they are just copying Joy Division are probable people who found out about Joy Division somewhere around 2005 when Joy Division resurfaced because of the Emo scene.
Can you measure the ross?
This is not Ceremony any more.
DUDE JOY DIVISION LMAO
"joy division is the only post punk band in the world and since ceremony went in a post punk direction they must be trying to be them. and since pitchfork said this isn't good, i don't think it's good either."
- all of you, 2015
Dylan Engelbach I love this song/like this album but you can’t tell me this isn’t straight Joy Division
I really like the seperation
even zoo was better than this lol
interpol's vocalist singing for the smiths
This Is More Joy Division Then Joy Division... Mad Respect
This song by them really makes me think of Joy Division
Are they doing a Title Fight?! Except they're channeling Joy Division instead of Husker Du vibes?
I'm hearing some Joy Division and The Horrors influence. Liking it all.
Keep it up boys!
Is this like metalcore or something??
Ian Curtis lives?
This is so joy división
Esta muy buena las 2 cancioens en especial THE SEPARATION, Ilike both songs specially THE SEPARATION
It is what it is I guess
The only thing that really separates this from earlier Ceremony is these lyrics aren't meant to be a joke.
Came here to hear "some of the most superficial post-punk revival I have ever heard"
@***** yeah dude maybe they weren't trying to write a "what post punk really is" record rofl
@citizenihilist dude its *just* watered down post punk
@Yeabe Fekade may I ask who said that? (I agree I'm just curious)
@Jcop42 theneedledrop
do you watch his videos?
+RemjianDrummer ever hear of joy division?
Ooof. This isn't good; it's not because it isn't like their previous material, though. This album is just dull, it lacks any standout track and falls short of the style of music they were attempting to emulate. This album serves as a prime example of what happens when a band totally changes it's genre. I LOVED Rohnert Park, and stuck around for Zoo; this album showcases Ceremony's weakest points, sloppy instrumentals, bad copycat vocals, and an overall underwhelming sophomore big label release. I wonder if label mates Interpol had any sort of hand dipped in this record, as it's reminiscent of a high school Joy Division cover band playing old Interpol songs.
Never heard anything from this band before, all I can think of is , Joy Division, New order, the smiths, The Cure.
Fuck me, right?
@Andrew Scott i hear a total Interpol sound
@Andrew Scott haha you should check out the older stuff they have.
@Mike Garde Hahahaha, indeed. Check out: Throwing bricks, My war or Kersed.
+Andrew Scott
Sounds like Joy DIvision, not sure about the rest
+Andrew Scott Well they used to play more powerviolence/hardcore influenced music. but progression is inevitable
Brilliant ...love it..
I love it when a band experiments with their sound, but they just didn't do it right. Joy Division did this way better decades ago.
Pun intended?
This would make Ian Curtis kill himself again.
Oooo. Really Good.
Love the Joy Division influence. Whether old hardcore punk style or new post-punk, these guys are amazing.
To the people complaining, bands progress and change sound.
It's literally going to happen with no matter what genre, or band you choose.
Literally everything Ceremony has released has been phenomenal. Instead of bitching, enjoy it and relax for once.
It's not healthy to be mad all the time, so listen to Youth of Today and be quiet.
Ceremony ? Hah, hah. This sucks.
I saw Ceremony live about 6 or 7 years ago, it was completely brutal and hardcore. They shouted out to all the hardcore kids and a bunch of hardcore bands, did a cover of Project X - Straight Edge Revenge, and made fun pf pop-y and alternative bands. Flash forward to now, I saw Ceremony was coming back to town so I decided to check out their new music. I'm completely shocked, would have never thought that band I saw years ago would sound like this now.
from hardcore punk to new romantics always love Ceremony.
I love hardcore, and I love post punk. These guys definitely give me the best of both worlds in one. This is great!
ceremony and title fight should do a tour together and everyone can burn their old camo shorts together.
08bourquem Gotta add Hundredth now, too!
RS IV Neither was title fight really
Best comment i ever read on the internet. Lmao
I gave the comment a thumbs up because it deserved it...but those shorts are going to be on my corpse during cremation...that is the only way those babies are burning.
This is funny cause ned’s been playing bass for ceremony lately
reminds me of joy division a lot and what a coincidence their name is ceremony lol the separation is super good tho
Hipster much
Why is nobody asking...
Who is the girl in the video? She's kind of an angel.
@thebiff Alina Phillips. http://ohthumbelina.tumblr.com/
this shits fucking weak RIP
lets pick out our favorite New Order song, name our band after it and pretend we are Joy Division
So stoked on this! Love everything from violence violence right up to this. I think it's so cool how they just make the music that they want to make and don't give a fuck how different it is and don't restrict themselves to any one genre. Which in my opinion is the most punk rock thing they could possibly do!
joy division tribute band!
I wonder if they listen to Joy Division or New Order...
sounds a lot like interpol
Not that bad but, also not something to get too excited over. They'll probably go through the same thing Joyce Manor did; Gain new fans who enjoy the polished new sound and lose some of their dedicated hxc and punk base. I just hope they don't play this stuff live.
This is special. I hope that this is their 'out'
It just isn't that good tbh and I'm not saying that based off of their old stuff either, it's boring and derivative and we've heard this a thousand times. Hats off to bands that change but whatever.
Pack yr fists full of... sadness :(
Damn, I love this so much
Mixture of Joy Division, She Wants Revenge, and Interpol.
Can you mea-WHEN I DIE I'LL BURN IN HELL
