You can't learn runs like that. I've heard the use of melisma time and time again, but her rendition of this song shows what sets her apart. Her runs are complex and flow out of her so fast and smooth and effortlessly. She's so natural with it, even without her full voice potential. This is why she's the queen of runs.

Have you ever noticed that all of the take 6 members sound like Take 6 when they do a recording individually? Multitracking allows you do provide your own harmonies. I record my own background when I sing and people think it's a group

Its a real shame about that,because Mervyn with Take 6 was(IMHO)the best line up of the Group Ive been a*serious*T6 Fan since their inception in 1988 and I have listened very critically at their music countless times. I dont want to knock Joey; and now more recently(Kristian-Taking over for Cedric)but their sound is. Different.Not bad.just different.MW was more than just his voice that blended so well 3rd from the top,but his Arrangements*along* with Mark,Claude and Ced that made it so unique.

As I listen, I can't help but shake my head in disbelief at what I am hearing! This is, in all accounts, the best version of this song (IMHO). This is a totally spectacular rendition of this song. Hearing how glorious Whitney sounds singing this song, and how wonderful Mervin Warren sounds doing the background vocals just has me beside myself. And, we're both amazed at how beautiful this song is!

@alphaqnow Wow! I haven't heard this story before. I'd love to know more about the sessions of the One Wish album because I feel its her greatest work. Even though her voice was past its prime, she did some of her best and most creative singing on the One Wish album.
