Cattle Decapitation - Time's Cruel Curtain Lyrics

Lies that we've inherited generation to generation
That one can do anything, that all human life is gilded in gold

Time doesn't care for your feelings
Time doesn't know how to hate
Time draws the conclusion
And the path to your fate

No future for those that destroy
No rainbow for those that conserve
Life is a sentence, time naturally burns
Hell on earth that our species deserves

Breed before the fires start
Bleed out into the dark
This need for validation
This greedy life's ambition
An element of species narcissism
A grandiose idea of self-worth
In a vessel of organic matter
In a league with its own feces

We know that we're wrong
We know what we've done
Yet we still carry on

The curtain has closed
As only time knows
'Cause that's how it goes
Bed of fire or decompose

We know that we're wrong
We know what we've done
Yet we still carry on

The curtain has burned
No lessons are learned
Our ashes in the urn
This meeting is adjourned

O into nothing
"What are you now that I once was?
What I am now, you will soon be"

  8. G.... M....

The way that bass enters at 2:58 is so fucking amazing!

  9. M.... 9....

    I love Cattle Decap 🤘🏻🔥

  10. C.... ....

I have a PhD in English and I can say I fucking love these lyrics. The dude who wrote the words for this album must have a direct link into my mind because they express exactly my disgust and contempt for capitalist society, willful destruction of the environment, the idiocy of the masses and widespread nationalism/populism.

    C.... ....

Go live in France or some other fucking toilet of a country & see how any other society other than capitalism works out for ya, ya cockbone.

I remember listening to Pacific Grim and whole The Anthropocene Extinction album 4 years ago saying that Cattle Decap will never top that album. Oh and how wrong I was. This new album, and especially this "Time's Cruel Curtain" and song "Death Atlas" alone set the bar again higher than the previous album(s) did. We have now witnessed three absolutely fantastic pieces of technical death metal. And I say it again... I don't see how these fellas can get any better than this. Just... HOW?!? Album of the year, together with Blood Incantation's "Hidden History of the Human Race".

    t.... ....

Ohh yeah... forgot "Hideous Divinity - Simulacrum" totally... another technical death metal gem of 2019.

    t.... ....

And "Immanifest - Microbial" - That one is probably right next to Cattle Decap fighting for the best death metal album of the year title ;)

    t.... ....

@t3r080 Infant Annihilator with The Battle of Yaldaboath, too!

But you are so right, I have listened to these lads religiously for all of Monolith and Anthropocene. Love Karma and The Harvest Floor too, and I've been working my way backwards ever since, but damn... this is, for me, one of the greatest masterpieces to ever grace my ears.

Pros and cons about living in the middle of a slow-motion apocalypse:

    Cons:
We all roast alive on a barren hellscape of a planet that can no longer sustain life.

    Pros:
Cattle Decapitation albums will get better and better.

    t.... ....

I got into them this year because of a buddy of mine . I knew of them but I didn't really care for that grindy type stuff . But man I listened to their last 3 albums including this one and I'm blown away , they're definitely one of my favorite bands now and I've I only been listening for a short time , and for sure album of the year .🤘

  19. R.... ....

Best track on the album. The cleans remind me of Overkill a bit.

    R.... ....

I just associated it with a pinch of 3 Inches of Blood...

  20. c.... M....

    Awesome Nice álbum

  21. J.... R....

    Beautiful intro

  22. E.... A....

Love the lyrics and the meaning of this band, I feel like the transitions are really weak in this song. The atmospheric bits are fantastic, but then they jump straight into death meal with virtually no flow like at 00:48

Unfortunate, because I love the experimental parts of Cattle Decapitation. It just doesn't mix very well with their more straighfoward tech death in this song.

    E.... A....

    yes...death meal!

    E.... A....

@Drake Colvin Whoops, typo. Death meal sounds like something you'd feed to maggots to make them grow nice and big. Maybe made from corpses.

    E.... A....

    that's deathgrind

    E.... A....

DeathCore is what you feed to wave riders
Death Meal is what you feed to Carbon

    E.... A....

Don't need "flow". Just go 0 from 100 yourself. I love it.

  23. H.... H....

Gawd...I love your music🔥😍 this album is amazing 🔥

  24. H.... H....

    😍❤️😍😍

  25. J.... M....

This makes jerking off so much easier!

  26. T.... ....

So I discovered the day after it came out. Funny. Great music, I have to say. But I would like an entire album of that intro.

    T.... ....

O.o a whole album consisting of voices of four dimensional beings?

    T.... ....

    @Aleyna Urn Wouldn't that be perfect ?

  27. S.... ....

    Pudding

  28. L.... D....

    fav track of this masterpiece!

  29. L.... I....

    2:57-3:23

  30. B.... K....

    We know that we're wrong
    When know what we've done
    Yet we still carry on,

  31. B.... K....

This might have to be my favorite song of the album, every song is equally epic, every song has equal beauty but the last three songs of the album (coincidentally just like the last three albums) are so well strung together

  32. C.... ....

    They doesn't ship to Uruguay

  33. L.... D....

I'm writing my letter to Santa right now. I'm asking for the Cattle Decap to play live in Italy ... Great album. I started listening to music 30 years ago, with Pink Floyd. And now I am here. The music continues to heal my wounds. Thank you very much, guys
    🤘🎅

How could anything be confirmed if its a prediction about the future? I do research all the time. I know that shoulder to shoulder everyone in the world could fit in the city of los angeles. I also know everyone in the world could have a 1500 square foot house in the state of Texas back to back. Theres no such thing as overpopulation when you have the intellect of humans.

    N.... ....

Im saying I really like this album, Im just not into being depressed lol

    N.... ....

@Nigel Proctor For all the intellect humans have, the greed, corruption, incompetence, and logistics of what you propose is impossible and unrealistic.

Overpopulation is one of the most severe and threatening factors in our lifetime, right along climate change, plastic pollution, and deforestation.

I think you're completely missing the point of this album, then. It's supposed to inspire people to think about their actions in the world and how we're quickly reaching a critical crisis point. It may be depressing, but if you're just straight up ignoring the facts present about the cascading impacts of a 2 degree centigrade change (which is quickly approaching), then you're part of the problem.

    N.... ....

This is my fav CD song

    N.... ....

@Escaping Aghartha band official I'm definitely not ignoring it if I'm contemplating it. I believe in original sin so I do take into account the horrid nature of man. Our belief in what actions should be taken to preserve not only our civilization but the world itself is just entirely different, and this argument could never bear any fruit, so we'll just have to agree to disagree.

  35. N.... M....

Holy shit. You guys topped all of Monolith, all of Anthropocene... this album kicks major ass. I'll be looking forward to going nuts at The Opera House next Wednesday \m/

  36. .... ....

    Definitely AOTY

    .... ....

If only The Ritual Aura's album was longer, Unfathomable Ruination had a few more melodies and Hour of Penance experimented a liiitlle more, but yes Cattle wins 2019 like they did 2015 (despite Irreversible Mechanism's & Sulphur Aeon's album) and 2012 (despite Dying Fetus', Hour of Penance's, Spawn of Possession and Testament's albums). What a decade it's been, especially for this band!

  37. k.... ....

Loving the whole album! Can't wait to see you guys in Toronto next week :D Found you 2 weeks ago and fell in love with all music you make. Started with Death Atlas song and was mind blown!

    k.... ....

the un migration pact will destroy canada even worse than it already is, a doubled population purely from the third world.

  38. K.... ....

Those last 3 minutes complete this album for me, i applaud you fellas on an epic album. Hope to see you guys keep this path.

Edit: "O, Into the Nothing" Still hits hard.

    K.... ....

Incredible isn't it, the feeling it strikes...to the core. There's no denying the words, the deliverance is powerfully creepy and the entire ensemble drives a bludgeoning monolith through our very essence. Thoroughly enjoying this album, cheers man!

    K.... ....

The way it segues from "adjourned" is masterful. Travis Ryan is arguably one of (if not _the)_ best vocalists in Extreme Metal.

    K.... ....

Koda hey man I’m 37 and come from the old KoRn era and love Floyd as well. I seen this in Facebook and currently into Hank country music but listening to this album man I tell you what I FUCKING DIG THIS MUSIC!!!! Love it!!!
