Cat Stevens - Kitty Lyrics

I work in the mornin', I work in the night
the men on the block, they just laugh at me
I work in the mornin', I work in the night
the men on the block, they just laugh at me

But when they're wiping their silver spoons
palming the men for some bread,
I'll be laughing
Way, way out of my head!

When my little kitty gets out,
there's gonna be a party, a party no doubt
When my little kitty gets out
there's gonna be a party

And if my mind isn't coming so fast
the men on the block say I'm on the brink
And if my mind isn't coming so fast
and I aint so dumb as some people think

'Cause when they're wiping their silver spoons
palming the men for some bread
I'll be laughing, way way out of my head

His early music was just pop tunes with no substance... if he hadn’t gotten a near death pneumonia experience would his career have nose dived? Those masterpieces he wrote afterwards come from his soul...it was like he became a new person.

I remember hearing this song on my local AM station in Tucson Arizona in '67-'68 and just loving it. I think I was 10. But never knew who it was by, so I never could find it. And I don't even know why the US station played it, as I don't think it was a hit. But it should have been. I finally found out who it was by about 35 years later. Cat Stevens did this? Him? Wow! I was impressed.
