Cash, Johnny - Wide Open Road Lyrics
Well, you said you had enough
You said that you were leavin'
I said, "Shove off honey, baby, I ain't grievin'
Pack your bags and pull out this evenin'
There's a wide open road"
Early this mornin' you where nowhere about
And so I searched the town but you had done pulled out
I looked north, east and west and then a leadin' south
I saw a wide open road
There's a wide open road
It's leadin' south from my abode
If you stick around and turn your damper down
There's a wide open road
Was to tell you that your kitty cat was still around
And you left your weddin' ring when you went down
That wide open road
If you gonna stay away then honey let me know
How to cook hot biscuits, how to roll a dough
Every thing's gone crazy since I told you to go
Down the wide open road
There's a wide open road
And honey, I want you to know
You can look down south or you can turn back home
And there's a wide open road

RIP Johnny Cash, wish we had musicians like you today instead of garbage. You are missed Mr. Cash !
the best!
I'd have the same stunned look on my face is someone had given me that haircut.
Luther picks the shit out of his break- Got damn.
The Luther years were the best years.
For me The best Cash & tennessee 2 song
This video includes pictures of Joaquin Pheonix.
Even though he was rock I hate when people refer to him as a Rockstar, he's fucking country .
Clayton Evans Johnny also played a bit of old rock n' roll, for example, he played a song called rock n' roll ruby
I wouldn't only consider him "country", he was also very much in the rockabilly genre with songs like Big River or Folsom Prison Blues, Hey Porter, the list goes on...
Rock 'n' Roll, Folk, Country, Rockabilly, call it what you want it's good
Love this one ,and from my big favorite Johhny Cash !!
Matanza-To Hell With Johnny Cash
(Cover)
fucking bad
nothing to do with johnny cashs Satansvoice
the best ever
Love the Cash songs that just say, "I did nothing, this is your fault, get out." You know like Mean Eyed Cat, and Cry Cry Cry
is that Luther on guitar?
Yes that is luther
@Kade Berrier And after Luther's terrible death, Carl played guitar for John
@Kade Berrier i only know a lot of johnny cash from the fifties, after that not much, sorry
@Glenn Matuszewski not for long though as Bob wooton played lead up untill Cash's death
I first heard this song with The Little Willies. It is a good band when you don't know much about country or folk and you need somewhere to start.
I like the original slower version, myself. captures the haunting melancholy.
Are you talking about the one recorded by sun records
Ah, isso é muito pessoal. (:
yeah <3 good feeling c: thanks!
No man. A original ainda é superior. Acho que das que eles fizeram, só cry, cry, cry ficou melhor do que na original. Abraços
Luv it .thanks for posting
Heeeyaaa, hear this song - /watch?v=NR4Py5r6n8I

A Pure legend forever and always
This is when you get dumped and like it. Or if you're trying to like it.
I can relate.
@Amandalark your doubt is absolutely right, my grandma puts on the soundtrack sometimes when im over... gotta run out to the pickup and grab the real stuff cause there just aint nuthin like it!
I still haven't seen the bio flick but I seriously doubt that Joaquin could capture the grit, the warmth, the brilliance that was Johnny Cash...
love the old country music... Travis Tritt was right when he said "Country isn't country anymore"
walmart just had too...
what's the year on this song?
@SavageArmsMan Red Kernoodle according to the book.
Thanks for posting what a wicked song! :)
Does anyone know what CD this was on ?
Also...I know some of Johnny's songs were covers...(earlier in life as well as later)...
any idea if he covered this one...or wrote it ? Looking for facts not opinions...thanks! :)
Not sure if you found out in the 10 years since you posted, but this song was featured on his albums 'the blue train'. No idea if it's original, but there are several versions he made, and you can find the demo version on pandora
I got a slower version. Can someone send me this version plz?
Just turn the playback speed down
ive been memorizing his songs since i watched walk the line...old joquain doesnt make it but it sure put it ma head...ive been playing that boy named sue for as long as a year an i still cant figure the awesomeness...R.I.P mate...you rock
The second version is a lot slower, I think. And it was A.P. "Red" Kernodle who played pedal steel guitar on it. And here we have Luther playing the sharp solos!
